The lancer went off to find a second green gem to use for his LEAP skill. He needed one to leap to the item, and one to get back.
When he returned, the three of them got ready.
"Let's do this on my mark." the swordsman said. "If we time this right, the cooldowns should line up perfectly. Mage, when I say go, CONJURE water over the mercury. At that exact moment, Lancer you should use LEAP. Then mage, use FREEZE to create a solid surface to stand on. Lancer, you come back to us with the item in hand."
"Got it."
"Who put you in charge?"
The three of them readied up. THe lancer planted his spear head first into the ground. HE committed himself to a series of stretches before entering a runner's stance. The mage aimed her staff at the spot she was going to CONJURE water over. The swordsman studied them, then nodded.
"Ready?"
The mage nodded confidently.
"Sure am." the lancer said.
Their hearts beat against their chests in the few spans of silence. They needed to pass this quest. Their graduation, and their lives, depended on it.
The swordsman inhaled then shouted, "GO!"
