Chapter 126 - Chapter- 114 Final preparation

Four Days Later, in the Lord's House

The air in Arthur's private chamber was still, heavy with anticipation. A soft breeze filtered through the open windows, fluttering the edge of the crimson banners hanging along the stone walls. The faint scent of ink and old parchment lingered in the room, a silent testament to the countless strategies penned over the past few days.

Arthur stood before the tall window, hands clasped behind his back, his gaze fixed on the distant horizon. The sky was a bruised shade of gray, the kind that spoke of an impending storm—both in the heavens and on the battlefield.

Behind him, the heavy doors creaked open.

Seraphina stepped in quietly, and at her presence, Arthur turned.

"It's time," he said, his voice low, solemn, and unflinching.

In those simple words lay the culmination of tireless effort, sleepless nights, and unrelenting focus. For the past four days, Arthur had done nothing but prepare—strategizing, overseeing, coordinating. Yet it was not just him; the entire territory had moved like a well-oiled machine, every soul contributing to the war effort. Blacksmiths forged weapons and other items for war tirelessly throughout the night. Architectures worked by torchlight to reinforce walls. Assassins and mages laid traps. Scouts sent reports like clockwork. Soldiers trained until their muscles ached and their hands bled.

And Arthur—his gaze never wavered from the goal.

Through the hard work of every person in his territory. He had accumulated an enormous amount of event points. Enough, in fact, to fulfill his immediate ambitions.

Every blueprint he had set his sights on—the recruitment buildings for every class of soldier, from Gold to Platinum and even Diamond Rank—had been purchased without delay. Alongside them, the hero cards—powerful allies destined to become the backbone of his army—were secured as well.

With unwavering efficiency, Arthur had established each building where every others were placed. Their towering structures now stood like monuments to his foresight and ambition—fortresses of future strength.

And from them, the soldiers had been recruited.

Thousands upon thousands, clad in armor forged from enchanted alloys and wielding weapons imbued with battle magic. Gold, Platinum, and Diamond Rank hurricane soldiers, born of legacy and might, now stood ready to march at their lord's command.

Arthur took a slow breath and glanced toward the sprawling map spread across the table beside him—each marker, line, and notation made with precision and purpose. His fingers lightly traced the route the kobolds might take, and the flanking paths the goblins might exploit. His mind was clear. Focused.

The pieces were in place. The battle was no longer a distant threat.

It was coming.

Two million, two hundred and fifty thousand soldiers.

Arthur stared at the towering number with a quiet, weighty pride. It wasn't merely a figure—it was the culmination of blood, sweat, and unity. The people of his territory had poured their hearts into this moment, working themselves to the bone, collecting Emberveil stones, fueled by a singular belief in their lord.

The soft hum of the command crystal pulsed in the center of the room as Arthur summoned his interface. With a flick of his fingers, the shimmering display unfolded before his eyes like a translucent scroll of light.

Arthur's eyes narrowed as he studied the statistics. Numbers didn't lie. Strength on paper was one thing—but war wasn't waged on numbers alone.

"I will still be outnumbered…" he muttered, voice laced with quiet frustration.

His jaw tightened.

"If it were only the kobolds attacking, I could crush them easily with this force."

He turned away from the status panel, pacing slowly across the stone floor of his command chamber. His black cloak trailed behind him, a shadow that followed his every thought.

"But I know," he growled, his voice now bitter with loathing, "those ugly, conniving goblins are just waiting for the moment I'm weakest—after I've bled my forces to repel the kobolds."

His clenched fists trembled slightly, not from fear, but from barely contained fury.

"There will be casualties… far too many. But for the future of this territory—for my survival I must win this war."

He turned his gaze upward, toward the high, arched ceiling, where a shaft of sunlight pierced through a circular window. Dust danced in the golden beam, flickering like fading stars. Arthur exhaled slowly, calming his mind. Doubt had no place in a leader's heart. Especially not now.

With purposeful steps, he exited the hall and made his way toward the territory wall.

The path was lined with tireless workers and soldiers making their final preparations. Hammers rang out. Enchanted stone glowed faintly as reinforcement magic sealed its layers. Engineers barked instructions. Mages traced runes into the base of defense towers. The entire territory thrummed with quiet determination—an army not just of soldiers, but of people united for their home.

The massive outer wall loomed ahead, a monument of defense and design.

In the last four days, it had been transformed.

Blueprints acquired from the hurricane kingdom's treasure vault had proven invaluable—each detail a testament to the ingenuity of a long-lost civilization of war architects. Arthur had spared no effort or resource in implementing every piece of knowledge contained within them.

The stone had been reinforced with a magically reactive alloy mined from the vault's storage. Layer upon layer of defensive enchantments had been engraved into the very bones of the structure—barrier sigils, flame resistance matrices, kinetic absorption glyphs, durability enhancement, defence enhancement, attack enhancement, range enhancement, and even anti-flight repulsion wards, etc.

High above, mounted siege weapons lined the battlements—gleaming ballistae, rotating arcane cannons, and magic-powered long-range turrets. Some were even fitted with precision runes designed to track fast-moving aerial targets.

And beyond the wall, invisible to the untrained eye, lay the hidden death fields—trap formations designed by the legendary Hurricane Kingdom. They were delicate, dangerous arrays: glyph mines, gravity snares, mana shock fields, and illusions meant to scatter and confuse advancing armies.

Arthur ran a gloved hand along the surface of the wall. The stone hummed softly beneath his touch, as if it recognized him. As if it, too, knew what was coming.

"This wall…" he said softly, "this will be our sword and our shield."

He gazed out over the land beyond, eyes narrowing as the wind picked up and the clouds above began to gather.

The storm of war was coming.

But Starblade would not fall.

Note-

1. Arthur has also brought many other professionals, but i am not in the mood to talk about those things. Let the war finish first.

2. I have not named the commanders yet, because there were so many to name. So... Yeah, just let me think of some names or you can suggest me...
