Chapter 68 - The Couple's Room

Anna looked suspiciously at Genevieve. She was planning something. And that made her happy, because she knew it wouldn't be anything bad about her. Together, they entered the house and the cook approached with wide eyes.

"What's wrong?" Anna asked calmly and affectionately, as she treated everyone there.

"The chef didn't want to go to his room."

"He must be tired in bed. Don't worry."

"But he went to a bed..."

Anna felt her heart freeze at the thought that he might be in some room of the house making love to Sarah.

"I'll go there." Anna said determinedly. "Which room are they in?"

The cook was silent and stared at the floor.

"Stop that!" Genevieve scolded her. "Can't you see that the girl's imagination travels at the speed of light, with fertile ideas? Tell me once and for all where they are!"

"They went to Anna's room. Sarah didn't want to, but he insisted..." Jenna said, arriving and answering for the cook.

Anna and Jenna looked at each other smiling.

"I need to rest. Your turn to babysit, Jenna." Genevieve said and left.

Anna and Jenna made their way to Anna's room. As they approached the open door, Jenna let go of Anna's hand, which she had been holding.

"Go in there and tell me everything."

"Don't you want to watch it and have a chance to see for yourself? Maybe you'll change your mind about Adam's feelings..."

"I'm already changing, my dear. I'd rather you told me everything afterwards. I don't want Sarah to start thinking that you and I are allies... Even though she's already seen us together. We'd better erase the idea of friendship between the two of us."

 "Why?"

"Because she can and will want to break us up at all costs. After what she wished for Adam, the man she claims to love, just to have him to herself for a few weeks, I don't doubt anything else about her. You be careful too... Don't eat or drink anything she serves you." Jenna said and left.

Anna took a deep breath and putting an end to the distance between her and the door to her room, she walked in, smiling and looking festive. And she was going to have a party to celebrate that day. But she wouldn't say so until Sarah was gone.

Even the sight of Sarah on her knees, her face very close to Adam's, didn't dampen his joy.

"Adam..." She said with love shining in her eyes.

Adam immediately pulled away from Sarah and turned to her. Anna saw the unmistakable gleam of satisfaction in his eyes, but she didn't want to delude herself by calling what she saw love.

Sarah stood up and turned to Anna with a look of contempt.

"Your presence is not necessary here at the moment. I ask you to leave and leave me alone with Adam so that he can rest... You have the task of playing hostess to your friend, Genevieve. Keep her company..." Sarah said, gesturing with her hands as if to dismiss her.

Anna smiled at Sarah as if she were her superior.

"I think you've got the wrong person. You don't give me orders. And this is my room. You're the one who should leave. And as for Genevieve, you keep her company."

"Are you going to try and hide it from everyone that Genevieve isn't your guard dog? I've noticed that she's always around you, ready to intervene. Is she outside the door waiting to save you from me?"

"I don't know what you're talking about, but I don't need Genevieve to defend me against someone like you. You represent the worst of human beings and I can break you down right here. No one will tell on me for leaving you in pieces inside my house."

"A few days and you already think you're the mistress of this house..." Sarah said with a wry smile.

"I don't think I'm the mistress of this house, Sarah. To think so would imply doubt, and I am certain that I am Adam's wife, therefore the rightful mistress of this house, and it is with that authority that I say that you are no longer welcome in this house, but you can stay. I just won't have you in my room. This is my exclusive territory."

Sarah opened her mouth to say something, but stopped herself when she saw one of the maids enter the room, humble and embarrassed, accompanied by one of Adam's men.

"Anna... The cooks want to know if they can put two extra places at the table, and what time you want lunch served."

Anna didn't look back as she recognized the cook's voice and knew she was doing it on purpose.

"Yes. You can put two extra places at the table... You can serve in two hours." Anna said, looking defiantly at Sarah.

"Will the menu change at all?"

"No. I want Adam to know my childhood food, which was lost in my memories until recently... "

"Yes, Mrs. Lens." The cook said and winked at Anna as she left.

Anna turned to Sarah, who stared at her dumbfounded as Jenna walked away, holding back her laughter.

Sarah couldn't hide her disgust and turned to Adam, pointing her finger at Anna.

"You see the filthy snake you put in your own house? You've only been away a few weeks, and she's taken over everyone. I wonder what she wouldn't do if you stayed away for three months. She'd take your power!"

Adam shook his shoulders and didn't hide the fact that he was having fun with the situation.

"Go, Sarah! Get out of my room! Now!" Anna said with authority.

Sarah turned to Anna with contempt in her eyes.

"This isn't your house for you to kick me out of."

"But it is my room." Anna said menacingly.

"I'm going to leave because I know that a low-level subject like you can try to settle things by force, and I'm not used to that. But I must warn you that I've come to stay. For a few days. You'll have to accept that." She said and left with her head held high.
