Chapter 71 - The return of the Godfather

He removed Genevieve's clothes and laid her on the bed, covering her body with his. He caressed her body until she began to squirm under him, and to touch her body in all the right places, with his expert hands, and then with his mouth. They had wild, relentless, insatiable sex for more than three hours.

When Adam finally decided to leave Genevieve's body so that she could rest, she smiled.

"Wow! Adam... How I've missed this!"

"I won't let you miss it again."

 "But... What about Anna?"

"She's my wife." He said simply.

 Genevieve became pensive.

"Are you going to show me what you did in the room where you don't allow anyone in?"

 Adam smiled.

 "No."

"I know you did something in that room, as soon as your father bought Anna..."

"Genevieve... Don't bother me with questions."

"I can't help it... If I hadn't arrived, would you have killed Anna?"

"I don't think I'll be able to stop it from happening."

 "Does she deserve it?"

"She... Anna told me horrible things. I know they're lies. She thinks she's the first virgin to lie with me, but she doesn't deserve me to kill her."

"So... Maybe I won't be here next time..."

Adam remembered Sarah's words and turned to Genevieve.

"Can you... hear me and feel me when we're far apart?"

"Yes... As long as neither of us are in this house." Genevieve said and bit her lip. She couldn't have said that.

"Yes... It's happening. I feel as if the house is blocked by some spell."

"You didn't tell me about the shot you took." Genevieve said, knowing that he just didn't want to talk about Anna. And knowing that if he continued with that line of reasoning, he would discover Anna's secret.

"They didn't hit him in the leg. But it was well remembered. I must limp a bit to pretend I've been shot in the leg."

"Is all this theater for Sarah?"

"No. She doesn't know about the shot in my leg and arm. Caricatura must have talked to you about it. I have to pretend until I know who betrayed me."

"You're wasting your time." Genevieve said thoughtfully. "If there was a traitor among the humans who work in this house, he'd be Ryan's ally, and surely he already knows that you recovered immediately."

"Ryan, he couldn't stand up in a three-minute fight with me, and now he's gathering humans to fight us werewolves. He's rebelling against his own kind because of his ambition and envy. Ryan is going to become a formidable enemy."

"How can you say something like that? He'll drag humans to their deaths at first, but when they find out, and spread the word that werewolves aren't just a fable, they'll hunt us down and kill us. We're stronger, but there are too many of them."

"I know. Just as I know Ryan's fate if he attacks me again. I won't have any choices."

"He hasn't surrendered to blood ties?"

"No. He's now busy spending the money he's earned, marrying some millionaire's daughter, traveling with women all over the country. Soon, he'll be broke and vulnerable, because he won't be able to pay his debts or keep his men. And when he runs out of money, he'll come back to me. I hope this serves as a possible reconciliation."

Genevieve stared at the ceiling. Her thoughts were racing at the speed of light. If Ryan took power from his wife, a reconciliation between him and Adam would be advantageous for both of them. Ryan's wife was certainly a werewolf and rich. Ryan's grandfather would accept nothing less for his heir's wife. Ryan could come back and become strong, if he sought out the right allies. But that wasn't what worried her most. If Ryan was stabbing his own grandfather in the back with his power to convince men to side with him, there was no guarantee that he wouldn't do the same with Adam.

They both fell asleep, each lost in their own thoughts. They woke up to someone knocking firmly on the door and calling for their boss.

They hurried to get dressed. Adam put his sling back on and opened the door. It was Jenna telling them that lunch would be served as soon as they sat down at the table.

Adam looked at Anna lying on the floor. He could hear her heartbeat. Jenna followed the direction of his gaze and held her surprise.

"What happened?" She asked, unsure if she should approach to help Anna.

 Adam stared at her coldly.

 "The boss came back."

 ...

Genevieve walked past Adam and Jenna.

"Don't be a mean dog, Adam. Let Jenna help the girl." She said and left.

Adam looked at Anna on the floor and, taking a deep breath, picked her up in his arms and placed her carefully on the bed. He had to remember that Anna was still a human girl. Sixteen was the age at which girls were looking for adventure without any major worries and Allister had bought it. She didn't have many role models and even at eighteen, she looked younger, and perhaps a friendship with Genevieve would make her a better woman.

After taking a curl of her hair and looking at that strange shade of red, he turned to Jenna.

"Bring her something to eat as soon as she wakes up."

"Am I supposed to wait for that to happen here?"

"Yes. Keep her company." He said, ignoring Jenna's accusing look. "Get something from the cooks to put on her neck, or ... I don't know if she'll be able to talk. Not that that would be a bad thing, I don't like her sharp tongue, but maybe she'll need her voice one day to be a lawyer."

"We could take her to the hospital or call a doctor..."

Adam seemed to remember something, went over to the board, took it out and opened the safe, taking out a small vial from inside and holding it out to Jenna, who approached and took it with an inquiring look.

"I wish I had something to make her forget what I've done, but since I don't, serve this to her in the juice. It'll restore any damage caused by the supernatural." He said and left.

Jenna returned with the vial to the bed. Anna's eyes were open, and on her neck, there were no marks from Adam's hand.
