Adam waited patiently for the men to tire of their banter and when Anna stood up, he took her hand.
"You're going to wait with me until everyone leaves."
Anna sat back down without complaining. Deep down, she knew she would never let Kate touch her. Everything she said was to provoke Adam. He was in for a surprise. She would tear Kate's eyes away from him when she tried to put her hand on her. She would wait for the right moment.
"Should I wait too, my fiancé?" Kate asked anxiously.
"Yes. But not here. Come up to our room."
Kate stood up and sent Anna a look of victory before leaving.
When Adam was alone with Anna, he reached out and touched her neck. He said something in a soft voice.
"Benim kötü küçük cadım."
"What does what you said mean?"
"It doesn't matter. It's Turkish. You recovered quickly."
"You don't seem upset about it."
Adam looked at Anna thoughtfully.
"Is that what you think of me? That I enjoy seeing you hurt?"
"You're a sadist, boss. You like to hurt and see blood on your victims."
"You're not my victim."
"No?"
"You're my wife."
"I won't be for long, right?"
"You'll always be my wife, Anna."
"Did you lie to Kate, or are you lying to me now?"
"She needs to believe that we're getting married. She has something I need. But nothing that happens here will annul our marriage."
"A divorce has that effect, Adam."
"He's a fake, Anna."
Anna stared at him, not knowing what to think.
"You're very convincing."
Adam took a deep breath and concentrated on his glass of wine.
"I have to be like that."
"You're free to choose what you want to be, Adam. You're a beautiful, young, billionaire man. If you can't choose your destiny, no one else can."
"Have you forgotten my obligations? Have you forgotten that I'm Alpha?"
"Maybe you can't change your status as a leader, but you can choose to be kind, good, honest..."
"And what would I get out of being those things?" Adam asked, beginning to be amused by Anna's naivety.
"For a start? My respect."
"Do you know where I'm going to stick your respect?"
"Do you admit that it's your choice to be cruel, arrogant, evil?" Anna thought she would never let her son grow up with such an example of a father.
"I don't have to admit anything to you, Anna. I'm much worse than your mind can imagine. If you knew the things I've done and do, you'd know that I'm kind, good and honest when I'm with you."
"I'd rather believe that you can be better than that. I'd rather believe that you have a human heart and that there's mercy inside you."
"Your preferences are touching, Anna. Feel free to deceive yourself with these lies. Will that make you feel better? Is it hard to look in the mirror after you've discovered that the man who owns your body, and whom you love, is a monster?"
"You're a pervert, Adam. Why do you want to see me and Kate together?"
"I've never seen two women having sex. I think it might be something... Interesting."
Anna knew he wanted her to feel frustrated with another woman, but she would pretend to orgasm with Kate. Perhaps that would hurt his ego irreparably, and he would send her away. She decided, changing her original plans.
"And we're waiting here, why?"
Adam looked at her uncomfortably. He didn't think Anna would accept something like that, without resisting.
"Do you want this?" He finally asked.
"Maybe I'll find out that it was a woman I needed to orgasm with."
Adam smiled reassuringly.
"Ah, Anna. Tonight you're going to scream my name and have lots of orgasms."
"I don't doubt the orgasms, but when I'm in Kate's arms, I can shout your name so that you can regain your reputation in front of your werewolves."
Adam smiled and put the empty glass on the table.
"You're young."
"So are you."
"I... If you could make one request of me and be sure that I would fulfill it, whatever it was, what would you ask for?"
Anna picked up her glass of juice. For some reason, she didn't want to lie to him.
"I would ask you to try to be better for me, for... Us. I'd ask you to be my husband, friend, confidant, lover, and father to my children. I would ask you to turn this house into a home, and these people who work here into our family. I would ask you to show me what it's like to be loved. I'd ask you to show me your wounds and we'd try to heal each one together, until there weren't even any scars left. I would ask to be part of your life. Not as a body, used only to satisfy your sexual desire, but as your companion."
Adam had a dark look on his face.
"Can't you ask for just one thing?"
"But that's what I asked for, Adam. I asked for just you."
Adam looked at Anna.
"I'm yours, as I've never been any woman's and would never be again."
Anna shook her head.
"And what would you ask for?"
Adam smiled sadly.
"One day, I'll talk to you about it."
"Why don't you talk about it today?"
"Because you're not ready to listen to me, Anna. You're still a little girl dreaming of Prince Charming. I'm not like that. I never will be. I'm a lover of violence. But there is something. Something you said that... It's also a wish of mine."
"What?"
"It's a secret. When I solve the problem with Ryan, I'll show it to you."
Anna felt sad. She couldn't wait. Her belly was already noticeable and Adam wasn't naive. She couldn't risk her son's life.
"Don't miss this chance, Adam."
Adam looked at her suspiciously.
"You're not leaving, Anna. There's no need to rush. We can do everything slowly."
Anna looked sadly at him.
"You're right." She said, but her throat was aching from the effort of stopping the sobs.
Adam stood up and held out his hand to her.
"Are you ready to try something different?"
Anna accepted the hand he held out.
"If it makes you happy..."
They walked slowly up the stairs.
