Adam walked down the corridor, sat down on a chair near the room where Anna was, and put his hands over his face, knowing that his men were looking at him disapprovingly.
He couldn't change what he had just done, but he felt like it. Not even the richest of men could undo what he had done. Anna didn't deserve to be treated like that. He understood that she was still young, and that she thought differently from him, and couldn't yet understand certain things about the life she led. He needed to make deals. He wasn't indifferent to her feelings. Quite the opposite. He reciprocated them. For the first time, his heart surrendered to the charms of a woman. He believed it was a distraction on his part. She arrived little by little and won everyone over, including him. But what irritated him was Sarah's insinuation, as they were leaving for the hospital, that the girl wanted to die. That she had thrown herself down the stairs. And he remembered those words with hatred.
Now he could only hope that in time she would forgive him. He had his fears and his longings. And he knew he wasn't a pious man. But he would try to change, to deserve the love she offered him every day, with her strange dishes, and with her unconditional, genuine and innocent love.
He stood up and looked at the cell phone he had taken out of his pocket. It had been half an hour since he left the room. He had to get her out of that place and make her forget what had happened. He tried to open the door, but she locked it from the inside. Then he spent five minutes shouting for her outside, with no response. He cursed the girl because she wasn't a werewolf and he couldn't see through her eyes. He saw that his men were already starting to get worried and agitated. Caricature approached, knocked him out of the way and broke down the door with the weight of his kick.
All the werewolves were anxious when Caricature pushed Alpha boss aside and entered Anna's room, but they weren't surprised that Alpha allowed it. It seemed that he already knew what had happened and his eyes were cold, staring into the room. The sight of him affected everyone. He was feeling a hurricane of dark feelings. If he met Anna at that moment, he would kill her.
A few seconds later, Caricature came out of the room stunned and everyone looked anxiously at him. Even Adam turned his cutting gaze on him.
"She's not here..." He said without believing his own words.
Adam glared at him angrily and entered the room smelling her.
"She couldn't escape from here. We didn't leave the corridor, for nothing..." one of them said.
"Maybe she's under the bed." Said another of his men with a debauched but serious tone, and without moving.
Adam turned to him even more irritated, because neither he nor the other men had moved to help find Anna. He didn't want to have to use his manipulation, but he did with the man who had hinted that Anna was under the bed.
He approached, unable to help himself, and knelt down, and looked under the bed, in the bathroom, and even in the closet, and then he looked at the window and went over there.
Adam had been manipulating that werewolf the whole time and when he found the place where Anna had fled, he decided that from then on he would check it out with his own eyes. That crazy woman had escaped through the window. He took out his cell phone and called Genevieve. He knew that his men wouldn't be able to find her effectively and that he could only rely on Genevieve's competence. He ordered them in his mind to get into their cars and sweep the area in search of the fugitive. They shouldn't kill her. No. He wanted to do that himself. He wouldn't bury Anna. He would eat all her flesh, listening with pleasure to her screams as he tore the pieces of flesh from her perfect body with his fangs.
Adam was angry and let the werewolves see what he intended to do to Anna as soon as he got his hands on her. Adam realized that they would do as he told them, but with no intention of actually finding her. Adam felt even more hatred. No one, ever, at any time, had been able to convert werewolves like that. They answered to him, but they loved her and wanted to protect Anna. What kind of witch was she? Perhaps her father was right when he wanted to exterminate all the blood of that species. And he succeeded, until he met Anna. Her father had wiped out her entire family. And there was only Anna left. Fucking Anna!
"Is there a problem, boss?" Genevieve's sensual voice interrupted his thoughts. "Are you going to be out there for long? Kate won't stop saying 'I miss you' if you don't get there soon, I'll kill her or I'll kill myself, whatever, as long as I don't have to listen to her voice anymore..." Genevieve's voice boomed from the other end and Adam frowned. Genevieve wasn't like that. She was an elegant and discreet woman. And now, he found for the first time, she was dragging and unbearable.
"Genevieve, I need every human male to go out and look for Anna, all over the state of Nevada, starting with Las Vegas. Immediately."
"She ran away?" Genevieve asked, but curiously, she wasn't really surprised.
"Do it now! The man who finds her will get a reward... Send me everyone's contact details and pass mine on to them. I want them to communicate with me at all times."
"Why don't you put everyone on alert at once?"
"Look how clever you are, Genevieve." He said wryly. He said wryly. "When you know how to filter the general alert, I'll follow your advice, or do you want Ryan and the Sigmas werewolves after her?" Adam asked and hung up the phone. I didn't feel like answering Genevieve. In fact, he didn't feel like talking to anyone. He left the room and looked at two of the men who were waiting quietly, following his orders.
"Let's go home." Adam said, accepting the fact that they were attached to Anna in a way he had never seen before. "I'll go alone in my car." He said and pulled out into the street. When he got close to the car, he remembered that he didn't have the key and kicked the door, taking out all his frustration on the vehicle. When he looked back, ready to tell whoever was approaching to go to hell, he saw Caricatura waving the car key in his hand.
