"I... Adam, she begged me for a chance to try and convince you to let her stay. She said she has no friends and nowhere else to go. I took pity on her and let her." Kate said, trying to convey the good girl image of the story to Adam.
"You don't know what pity is, and you've never felt it for anyone. Do you know what you are? Nothing! And besides, you're not even fit to carry out an order." He said calmly, but even so, his voice sounded like a veiled threat.
"How can you say that to me? Me, who has already proved that I'm on your side no matter what? Me, who offered you the inheritance your father managed to steal from you? You're ambitious and I made sure you didn't have to worry about that."
"You didn't do anything for free, Kate. You're charging me a price for handing over these papers. You're incapable of doing anything without being taken advantage of." Adam said, without moderating his threatening tone. "And there's no point in denying it. I've placed an insider among your old contacts in your office, and he's brought me some interesting news. Your witnesses felt abandoned by your lawyer. It wasn't very difficult for my werewolf to take and leave your witnesses lost on expensive trips with your prostitutes, and meanwhile you were here, worrying about rubbing your pussy on my bed for me. I've never been careless with my business, and I did it with your business. Everyone has their price, Kate and your witnesses must be at the bottom of the ocean by now."
Kate turned red and looked at Genevieve, but she seemed to be thinking far away, and then turned to Adam.
"You're arrogant! If you already had them on your side, why did you accept my proposal?"
"Firstly, because they weren't loyal to me yet, to the point of trusting me, calling me and asking for favors. If I refused your proposal, you would have left and given them the attention they so desperately needed. And secondly, because I wanted to know how far you would go. I wanted to understand why you wanted to move in with me so badly. I even thought you were a tasty spy for my uncle Dester..."
"I don't know how I can still love you after all the humiliation you've put me through, and continue to put me through.
"You and I have something together, but I can assure you, it has nothing to do with love. You like my penis, and I like watching you roll around on it. And that's all there is to it."
Genevieve turned red and regretted not having left earlier, and Kate turned red with embarrassment and indignation that he should say something so intimate in front of someone else. To their misfortune, he read her thoughts through her eyes.
The atmosphere suddenly became tense. Adam turned to Genevieve.
"Are you worried about Genevieve?" He asked Kate, without stopping to watch Genevieve's reaction. "I don't think you look very good as a behaved girl, Genevieve. If you act like that with your boyfriend, I'm beginning to understand why you live in different countries. Relax and learn something from Kate. She makes any man happy, when she wants to... And that's not all. She wanted to lie down with Anna, I'd like to see her with a woman like you. I almost regret not allowing her to continue... Kate is a slut and accepts any different idea in bed..."
"I don't know what you're talking about, boss." Genevieve said in her sensual, quiet voice.
"I see a male face through your eyes and... You close your eyes when you're having sex, which I find regrettable, I know you don't get any pleasure from it. A mere human is not capable of satisfying your desires, Genevieve. You're a werewolf now, not a whore to be played with by wriggling under someone. What's the matter? Do you need money?"
Genevieve stood up, ready to leave.
"Sit down, Genevieve. I didn't mean to offend you. It's a compliment, really. You're too good to be with any man without feeling pleasure."
Genevieve looked at her own nails.
"I don't care what you think, boss. But I think you'd better take your frustration at not being good enough to win a girl out on Kate. And you should know that I am selling myself to a human. He has precious information that we both need, and besides, I've yet to find a werewolf who could offer me what he's offering me."
Adam smiled.
"What can he offer you? Bad sex?"
"He just needs some guidance, and he'll get a sincere moan out of me one day. He offers me children, marriage and a comfortable life."
Adam looked angrily at Genevieve.
"I never thought I'd hear you say you want those things."
"I also never thought I'd live to see the wolf turn into a dog after a little girl..."
Adam closed his eyes.
"Genevieve, am I going to kill you?"
"Good. I'm going out, to stop you getting blood on your floor." She said, trying to get past him, but Adam held her arm, without looking at her.
"Sit down, Genevieve. There's still something I need to sort out with you. That's why I'm inviting you to have dinner with us. You're always welcome at my table." Adam said and she seemed to appease his anger and he watched as Alexander, Caricature, Jenna and the other men entered and took their places at the table, without greeting anyone. They decided between themselves and took turns with the other men to have meals with the boss.
Adam stared at Alexander with an inquiring look, and only after Caricatura elbowed him and pointed at the boss with his chin did he come out of the world he seemed to be in. Adam could speak his mind, but he didn't like to do it all the time. Every time he did, he had to face the troubled feelings of each werewolf and that was tiring at times.
"Ah yes! The secretary is in the office waiting for you. You didn't explain what you were supposed to do after we got here..."
