Chapter 123 - A Life Without Pleasure

"You wanted to know what it was like with Anna and I've already shown you. I don't enjoy having sex with you anymore. I hope you've satisfied your curiosity, Kate. I think it's very difficult for this to happen again. That's what you intended, fantasizing, right? To experience what she experienced with me?"

"I thought..." Kate turned red and kept quiet, thinking of something to say to counter what he had just said. Was he no longer attracted to her? She would have to use other means to seduce him. And she already knew which ones.

"Did you think that by putting on her clothes, wearing a wig, and using her perfume, you could fool me? You must be smarter than that."

"You knew you were having sex with me, so you still want me. I won't apologize for needing to make you see her in me, to get back to being a manly man."

"Kate, Kate, Kate... Anna exudes a scent of her own, which no one can imitate, and it's better than any perfume and her body..." He closed his eyes. "Her body is juicy, full of shapes, and just the right size. It took up every space in her shorts. You're skinny and your legs are crooked. You looked ridiculous wearing her clothes... Also, I didn't get drunk on the pill you put in the cognac, but I liked the idea. I'll do it again when I think it's necessary. I'm still virile, Kate, as you've seen, I've just become more selective. I no longer want to be with women like you and Sarah if I don't get something very precious in return."

"How do you know about the pill I put in the brandy?"

Adam stared at her as if she were asking a stupid question, and the look on his face reminded her of how Adam was before Anna. He was going back to being like that, and only now was she realizing that his change when he was with Anna, although subtle, was evolving and now, without her, he was going back to being the cruel, unapproachable Adam.

"Apart from the fact that I'm not blind, the pill at the end of the glass was very visible, there are cameras and men walking around this house all day. Did you really think you were going to drug me? And if you did, that you'd get away with it?"

"She got away with it! You're a slacker who's blaming women so you don't play your part as a man!" Kate threw in his face in revenge for the humiliation she was going through.

Adam stared at her for a few minutes, and memories of what had happened in the hospital came back to him.

"She was punished, yes. Maybe one day you'll have the chance to talk to her about it."

"I just wanted you to miss her and think it was a dream... That's why I put the pill in your drink. You need to live again!"

"Kate, you don't even come close to looking like her. Honestly... Those clothes looked good on her, but on you... Awful."

"So you don't want me anymore? You're a pig, Adam Bryan Lens and I hate you!" Kate said, getting up and putting on her clothes.

"That's not what I said... And it doesn't just happen to you. It happens to all women."

Kate opened her mouth in an o-shape.

She finally understood why he brought a different woman home every day. He was looking for the pleasure he found in Anna's arms. He was trying, in his own way, to fill a void.

 "Adam... You're psychologically blocked."

"And what good does it do to know that?"

"A psychiatrist can help you solve your problem."

 "I don't think so."

"You have to at least try."

"Don't you have a second alternative to my problem?"

Kate was surprised again. After humiliating her, he now wanted her help. And she would help him, but she had to get something in return.

"I know how to change this situation, Adam."

 "Then tell me!"

"I'll tell you the day you put a ring on my finger in front of the justice of the peace. You said that now we'd have to pay a price to get you to lie with us, just bear with me and you'll feel pleasure again, Adam." Kate said and left smiling with satisfaction. She knew she had won.

As soon as Kate left, Adam took his bottle of cognac and sat down on the bed. He began to think that he had desire, but didn't feel the pleasure he used to when he orgasmed. And he began to believe that Kate could really help him. But he felt the price was too high. What if Anna came back? As he sipped his cognac, he thought about the possibilities. Kate might accept a long-term deal. She would wait for Anna for at least the three years she had promised her bread. And after that, he would know that he would never see her again, and then it wouldn't matter who he married. He thought his own idea was a good one, and he would try to convince Kate the next day. He lay down and no longer smelled Anna, but the perfume she wore, and Kate took all the shine off that memory with her ridiculous attempt to pass herself off as Anna. He soon fell asleep.

Exactly three days passed before he had the courage to propose to Kate.

He saw her sunbathing by the pool and joined her. Kate looked at him anxiously, but stopped herself from asking anything, and stood dipping her feet in the water, not knowing how to act or what to say.

"Kate... I'd like to make you an offer." Adam began, but Jenna arrived with the drink Kate had ordered, and motioned for Adam to come and talk to her.

Kate was startled when Adam stood up, and followed him with her eyes, but Jenna had stopped at such a distance that she couldn't hear what they were saying. Then, with hatred, she turned her attention back to the water. She had been sure that Adam would tell her about the wedding. Now she didn't know anymore. Jenna was an ally of Anna's. She had rightly thought that she had heard from Anna.
