Chapter 156 - Someone Worse

"I also said that my first time looking after children, but you get used to it. And what's worse, you even start to enjoy their company."

"Have you ever been a nanny?" Adam asked, hoping he could offer her something in exchange for one night. It had been a long time since he had felt the desire he was feeling, looking at the young woman's perfect, well-shaped body. He felt his penis stiffen.

"In a way, yes. My sister used to leave her children in my care."

 "Do you live around here?"

"No. I live in southeastern Nevada. I came here to see my uncle's club."

"Is the owner here your uncle?" Adam asked and was disappointed. She was probably upper class. And girls like that required more effort to seduce. Maybe that's why he liked more experienced women. They always knew what they wanted, without the man having to go through a tedious ritual to get them to confirm their interest.

"Yes." The young woman answered after a while.

 "What's your name?"

 "I'm Bonnie, and you?"

 "I'm Adam."

Bonnie looked at him as if she expected something, but then took a deep breath.

"It's nice to meet you, Adam." She said and stood up.

"Wait!" Adam asked. "Are you leaving already?"

"No. I'm just going to leave you alone. I... I think I've imposed my presence and..."

 "Please stay."

Adam said, but he wouldn't beg her to stay. He had no patience with the games of seduction that these young women were used to, and then he realized that she was sizing him up, as if just then, she noticed his presence and she sat down again.

"You... You don't look like a... poor person." She said, searching for the words carefully.

"If I were poor, I wouldn't be a partner here. Have you ever seen anyone without financial resources in this place? Have you... Did you think I was poor?" Adam asked, finding it amusing. No one had ever mistaken him for 'poor' before.

"Yes. I thought you were poor. Your presence here doesn't mean you have money. Suddenly, you just know someone who has resources."

"So you didn't look at me as a possible suitor?"

She stared at him as if studying his reactions.

"No. I just saw you as someone who needed help, and I didn't think of any other... Reasons... What do you do for a living, Adam?"

 "I'm an entrepreneur."

"Interesting. A vague answer, but let's try again... What industry do you work in?"

Adam stared at her coldly, but he was having fun.

"First answer me why you thought I was poor."

She looked at him with a smile.

 "That's bothering you, isn't it?"

"Not the way you think. I never worry about how people will classify me, but you spoke as if you'd observed some specific detail."

"The children. They wear... crumpled, old clothes."

"But I said they weren't mine..."

"It's not natural for a rich man to have poor friends and then spend the day with that friend's children, babysitting."

"I didn't say I was babysitting those children."

"You didn't say they were your employees' children either. If you want people to think freely about you, you have to accept that they're going to do just that."

"How did you deduce that they are my employee's children?"

"You have no desire to please them. You have no feelings for them. You're not afraid to fight with a child who will probably talk about it with his mother... I could have easily taken the boy away, and by the time you realized it, it would have been too late for us to meet. I realized you were distracted for a while."

Adam shrugged. The young woman was observant and clever.

"Now answer my question." She insisted.

"I work in the death business. I command several countries, right here in the United States, and I even take requests from your neighbors. I've killed a large part of southeastern Nevada." Adam told her to get scared and left.

However, it was with surprise that he saw the glint of interest in her eye. She smiled, and the dimples that excited him appeared again. He needed to have that girl in his bed.

"How old are you?" Adam asked suddenly.

 "Twenty. And you?"

Adam frowned. He had forgotten how old he was.

 "I think I'm twenty-four..."

"You're not sure about that?" She asked, thinking it was funny.

 Adam ignored her.

"You seem to be happy to hear about my business."

"I once dated a man who worked for the mafia. When I was only thirteen. I stayed with him until I was seventeen."

Adam looked at her in surprise again.

 "Your parents allowed that?"

 "They could never control me."

"And what happened to this man?"

"He... He was killed in an exchange of fire with the police."

"And who took his place and didn't want to stay with you?"

"He received goods and delivered them, he never met the mafia boss. He was a nobody. That's how I met him. My sister made a phone call and I went to meet him at the door and picked up the package. We started talking, met up on other occasions and fell in love."

"I'm more dangerous than your old boyfriend. Maybe it's better for you to leave anyway." Adam said regretfully. He wanted her in his bed, but he knew that if he took her, with the experience she'd had with a mobster, and with her wits, she'd probably discover his secret and he'd have to kill her.

"Is that what you want me to do? Leave?"

 "No."

"Then what do you want Adam?"

"I want you to stay with me this weekend and help me look after these children."

She looked at him thoughtfully for a while.

"I will, if you promise me you won't want to lie with me."

"I can't promise that. I want to lie with you now. But I can promise that I won't harass you. I'll treat you like a friend."

 She stood up.

"I'll get my things..." She said and was already walking away when she turned to him. "You shouldn't invite people you don't know into your home." She said, smiling.

 "Why not?"

"Because I'm dangerous too. Maybe more dangerous than you." She said and disappeared from his sight.
