Adam took out his cell phone and asked a detective who was a partner and personal friend of his to quickly find out if the owner had a niece called Bonnie, and soon got a positive answer. He sent a photograph of the young woman and it was the same one who had been talking to him. However, the photo came with other information.
Bonnie was an upper-class young woman who had become hopelessly involved with the mafia. After the death of her boyfriend, she moved back to southeastern Nevada with her lawyer sister and started doing shady jobs for various loan sharks and, on occasion, the mafia.
Adam finished reading the report about her on his cell phone and thought about it. What if it was her job this time? What if she had been manipulating him all along into inviting her to his house? Unable to resist, he asked the detective what kind of shady work she did. And the answer left him speechless. Young Bonnie was a professional torturer.
Adam had to restrain himself from showing emotion, but he felt the adrenaline rush back into his body. He hadn't felt anything like that for many months since Anna ran away. He knew Bonnie was dangerous, but that didn't cause his fear, but rather an unparalleled excitement. She wasn't fragile, like girls her age. Perhaps... She was even fit to receive the treatment that werewolves gave to human women who subjected themselves to their humiliations. Perhaps that girl was someone who would change his way of thinking about young humans and become the most important woman in his life.
As soon as he hung up his cell phone, she approached with a backpack on her back and had put on a beach bag. Adam had promised not to force her to lie with him, but he was sorry. And he was sure he wouldn't be able to keep his word. Even the way she walked excited him.
"Shall we?" She asked, as she took the younger boy out of his arms and tucked him into her body, gazing lovingly at him as she placed him between her own arms.
Adam stood up and took the older boy's hand, and they headed for the parking lot. Adam put the children in the back seat, then looked sarcastically at Bonnie, who was waiting for him.
"You don't want me to open the door for you, do you? I only do that with women who agree to go to bed with me."
Bonnie smiled mockingly, opened the car door and got in.
Adam smiled amusedly, when she couldn't see it, at her attitude. It would be an unprecedented adventure to convince her to lie down with him. Still smiling, he got into the car, put on his sunglasses and seat belt, and stared at her for a while.
"Are you ready to get to know the most protected part of Nevada?"
"I already know it."
"Not from my window." He said enigmatically and accelerated.
Bonnie entered the mansion, surprised to see many armed men guarding the gate.
She hadn't believed that he was a mafia boss, because in those days, they lived through what no one had ever imagined. There was only one boss in the whole world, and her decision not to lie with him had changed radically. However, she was going to let him beg for her until the next day.
She entered the mansion and, curious, walked through every room, except for the bedroom where Kate now slept, because it was locked and the door was secret.
"Who sleeps here?" she asked, pointing to Kate's bedroom door.
Adam followed her with his hands in his trouser pockets.
"My wife."
"You didn't tell me you were married!"
"You didn't ask."
"She... won't mind me being here?"
"Should she mind?"
"Well... I would mind if my husband brought a woman home."
"She won't want to look after the children, then..." he said and shrugged.
Bonnie kept going and arrived at the locked door at the end of the corridor.
"And who sleeps here?"
Adam looked at her vacantly.
"You'll never know."
She smiled defiantly, as if he couldn't stop her from finding out, and continued with her tour of the house.
Bonnie praised the decor, and the size of the house. And she was pleased to see that there was a swimming pool in the well-kept garden.
Adam left the children playing in the living room to accompany her while she investigated every corner of the house.
"Your staff are very competent. The house is very clean, and I didn't even find any dust in the corners. That's magnificent and rare."
"Rare enough for you to stay for a while?"
"Because I feel that this invitation is something... Dangerous?"
"Maybe it is, depending on how long you intend to stay."
"I'll think about it... You don't scare me, but I'd like to know what kind of wedding you and your wife have arranged."
Adam didn't tell her about Kate, regardless of her choice of woman, she didn't need to know too many details, but he summarized that she had betrayed him and tried to blackmail him and what he had done to her as punishment could be repeated with anyone else who had the same audacity.
"She's not your wife, but you are married." Bonnie concluded.
"I have a lot of punishment to do yet." He just said. To her surprise, Bonnie smiled thoughtfully.
"I know punishments that would bring her to tears every day of her life, and that she would never forget... Your wife, of course. Not this woman you've deceived. She's your toy, and I don't break children's toys."
"She's not a toy. I don't want to hurt her. She's a childhood friend and I love her."
"You love her in a different way. I can understand that."
"Do you love someone?"
"No. But I know you do. Let's not talk about feelings now. That's not interesting. But tell me about the room you keep locked?"
"That's not an interesting subject either."
"If I decide to stay, Adam, you won't be able to hide what's inside from me. I always find out."
"If you decide to stay, Bonnie, I advise you to forget about that locked door, because the day you find out what's inside that room, I'll kill you. And I know how to be creative. Don't be fooled by the 'gentle' punishment I gave Kate."
Bonnie smiled reassuringly.
"I'll pay to see what you're capable of one day, Adam. But... I have another curiosity.
Why do you keep this Kate here? Under the same roof as you? She could live in some small, smelly house in this town and receive the same punishment."
"I can't send her away. Someone told me that if she leaves here, she'll die."
"That's silly! So, as long as she stays here, she'll be eternal?" Bonnie said with contempt that annoyed Adam, but he looked away.
