Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: Backlash: WarGames

Opening Shot – Steel and Silence

The camera opened on the massive WarGames structure — two rings surrounded by an imposing steel cage, reinforced with black chains and blood-red lighting. The atmosphere in the arena was electric. Fans stood, packed shoulder to shoulder, chanting in a steady rhythm.

> "WAR-GAMES! WAR-GAMES! WAR-GAMES!"

Above the ring, the tron displayed only two words:

> "LEGACY MUST BE EARNED."

The stage was set.

---

The Rules – One Way In, No Way Out

A cold-voiced narrator ran through the rules:

One man from each team starts.

After five minutes, the advantage kicks in.

A new entrant from the team with the advantage joins every three minutes.

Only after all ten men have entered does the match officially begin.

No pinfalls. No count-outs. Submission or surrender only.

---

Phase 1 – Cross vs. Priest

The steel door slammed shut as Jaxon Cross stood alone in one ring, staring across at Damian Priest, who towered on the other side, eyes burning.

The bell rang.

Jaxon charged first.

He didn't wait. He didn't play it safe.

He fought like a man who had nothing left to lose.

Stiff forearms. Knife-edge chops. Headbutts. Jaxon threw himself into the fire, and Priest gave it right back — launching him into the cage wall, driving knees into his ribs, grinding his face across the steel.

But Jaxon kept coming.

Every hit, every slam, every crash into the cage — he rose.

Blood trickled from his eyebrow.

He smiled.

The crowd erupted.

---

Phase 2 – Judgment Day Advantage

The countdown hit zero.

Out came Finn Bálor, steel chair in hand.

He slid in, striking Jaxon across the back. Priest followed up with a spinning heel kick that sent Jaxon reeling. Two-on-one. Chaos.

They drove Jaxon into the corner between both rings and hit a double superplex from the top turnbuckle into the steel below.

Jaxon screamed but refused to tap. Refused to stay down.

---

Phase 3 – Reckoning Answers

Out came Kai Maddox — precise, cold, and merciless.

He sprinted down, slid into the ring, and immediately targeted Bálor with a dragon screw into a modified ankle lock. When Priest tried to break it up, Maddox popped up and caught him in a guillotine.

Jaxon recovered. Together, the two began fighting back.

Bálor tried to scale the cage to escape — Maddox met him halfway, locking him in a hanging triangle choke off the steel wall. Priest dragged both down in a heap.

The crowd chanted:

> "THIS IS WAR! THIS IS WAR!"

---

Phase 4 – JD Joins the Fight

JD McDonagh was next in for Judgment Day — a wildcard with nothing to lose and a weapon in each hand: kendo sticks.

He went wild.

Shots to the spine. The legs. Across Maddox's back. He broke one over Jaxon's shoulder and laughed. Judgment Day regained the momentum — brutal, precise, relentless.

Jaxon began to fade.

---

Phase 5 – The Wings of Reckoning

Saint entered next.

The energy changed instantly.

He scaled the cage instead of using the door.

He dove.

450 splash from the top of the cage onto all three members of Judgment Day.

The crowd lost it.

Saint popped up, his chest heaving, grabbed a chain from under the ring, and began swinging.

One hit caught JD in the jaw.

Another caught Bálor across the ribs.

Reckoning rose again.

---

Phase 6 – Dom Brings the Numbers

Dominik Mysterio was next. Boos rained from every corner of the arena.

He tried to be clever — tossing weapons in before entering. Chairs. A table. A crowbar.

He went after Maddox, smart enough to avoid Jaxon.

But Saint wasn't having it.

He hit a springboard DDT onto the steel chair, leaving Dom writhing. Still, the numbers caught up. Four-on-three.

Jaxon was bleeding now — a deep gash above his left eye. Maddox had welts all over his back. Saint limped. But they refused to fall.

---

Phase 7 – The Monster Enters

Then came Talon Creed.

The crowd thundered.

He charged down like a freight train, yanked the door off its hinges, and began tossing Judgment Day members around like rag dolls.

He powerbombed Priest from one ring into the other.

He chokeslammed Bálor onto a pile of chairs.

He speared JD into the cage so hard it buckled.

The tide turned.

Four-on-four.

Blood. Steel. Chaos.

---

Phase 8 – The Architect Returns

Finally — the last member of Judgment Day.

Seth Rollins.

Music blaring. White robe. Bandaged temple. Eyes like daggers.

He walked, slow and confident, surveying the carnage.

Then he entered… and smiled.

Inside the cage, Rollins pulled out a flaming table — lighter fluid soaked — and set it upright between the rings.

The crowd gasped.

> "HOLY SHT! HOLY SHT!"

He grabbed a mic.

"Still think I don't build legacies?"

He looked down at Jaxon, who crawled toward him.

"I made you. And now I get to break you."

He lifted a chair—

Final Phase – The Viper Awakens

Then—

"Voices" hit the arena.

The building exploded.

Randy Orton.

He walked to the ring slowly, methodically, soaking in the moment.

He entered the cage and immediately RKO'd Dominik.

Then JD.

Then Bálor — off the ropes.

The crowd screamed, shaking the arena.

Priest charged — Orton ducked — RKO on the steel grate.

Jaxon stood now. Face bloodied. One eye swollen.

He and Rollins locked eyes.

No words.

Just war.

---

The Final Clash

Jaxon and Seth finally went at it — brutal, desperate, exhausted.

Seth tried for the Stomp — Jaxon caught his foot.

Lifted.

Cross Hammer — into the flaming table.

BOOM.

Seth went through it.

The fire snuffed. The crowd in shock.

Jaxon dropped to his knees.

Blood dripping from his nose, his lip, his brow.

He locked Seth in a modified camel clutch using the broken steel chain.

Seth screamed.

Flailing.

Tapping.

The bell rang.

It was over.

---

Aftermath – Smoke and Steel

The cage opened.

Medical staff flooded in.

Seth was barely conscious, pulled out on a stretcher.

Judgment Day lay scattered, broken, defeated.

Jaxon stood in the center of the ring.

Saint leaned on the ropes.

Talon kneeled by the door.

Maddox crouched beside Orton, both nodding in silence.

Jaxon looked into the camera.

Bloodied. Battered. Bruised.

But standing.

> "Kingdoms fall."

> "Outlaws rise."

> "This… is Reckoning."
