As I woke up and got ready everyone was still asleep, so I walked to school and, on my way, I stopped at Lilly's house. She was waiting outside when I got there. "Lilly why are you waiting outside? It's dangerous." She looked at me and said, "I was waiting for you, my brother had to go to work early, and my sister is still getting ready for her boyfriend." I looked at her and said, "Well good thing I'm here early, but why isn't your dad asking someone to take care of you, taking you to school and making sure you get back home save?" "Because I haven't asked him yet and I need to choice someone then and I don't know anyone except you, and you are also still in school." I looked surprised.
"Well Lilly how about next year when I've finished high school you can ask you father to hire me then." I smiled and she beamed and said, "Are you 18 this year?" I was shocked at her question, but I replied, "Yes and may I asked why?" she shook her head and said, "No you may not, but let's get going before we are late." "Okay, then let's go."
As we walked to her preschool, I was wondering why my age made such a difference to her. But I brushed it off as I dropped her at her school and started to walk to school. Once I reached it, I walked to my locker to see letters already sticking out. I opened it and threw every single one away without reading them I needed to focus on school, so I didn't bother with romance.
At the first period we sat in class and had a pop quiz on the second day. I of course felt like I aced it. As the bell rang for every other period, I was walking past Jake but we didn't speak and Amy was in my class witch was torcher but I coped with her. And when the bell rang for lunch, I went to the field and ate my sandwich there.
When school ended, I picked up Lilly and she talked about what she did in school and it was quite interesting. And after dropping Lilly at her house, I went to the park to play with Emily and her brother, as their mother, Cathrine, had some time to rest. This was how it was for the six months.
Until one day in first period a guy who didn't look much older than me walked in our class with the teacher as Amy yelled, "What are you doing here, Asher?" I looked at her confused, we all knew she was the major's daughter but who was this guy. Then the teacher said, "Amy sits. Your brother isn't here for you." "What?!" she yelled, "Then why is he here?" So, this is Amy and Lilly's brother that Lilly wouldn't shut up about? I must admit he was very handsome.
Amy sat back down, and the teacher gave the space to Asher. He stood in the middle of the class and said, "I'm here because, my sister, Lilly has been talking about a girl and my father has requested to see her, so I came to get her." I felt shocked and stayed quiet until he said, "Is there an Emily Jacobs here?" everyone turned to me. I stood up, "That's me yes." "Please follow me." He said. I walked towards him. He led the way out of the class.
As I followed him out of the school building towards a black limousine. He opened a door and signaled for me to get in. I did as he followed behind. The car driver drove us to the white house. As we stopped there, Asher helped me get out and I suddenly felt nervous.
"Don't worry you aren't in any trouble." Asher said. Then Lilly ran out of the white house and said, "Emily I'm so glad you got safe here. And I hope Asher wasn't a pain in the butt?" I laughed at her, but Asher didn't look pleased at what she said. "It's good to see you again Lilly." She ran and gave me a hug almost knocking me over. I smiled at her when suddenly a deep voice said, "Miss Jacobs, you've arrived may I please speak to you?" I looked up to see the mayor and said, "Yes sir."
As I followed him Asher and Lilly both stood still. We walked to his office and once we got there he said, "Please take a seat, miss." I took a seat, and he sat across me and said, "I've notice and her heard from Lilly that you've been taking her to school and back to our house, and I'm grateful for what you've done. So, I would like to return the favor." I looked at him and said, "There's no need sir, I didn't do it for a reward nor a favor. I helped her because she was nice and the first time, I saw her she was in trouble, and I acted on instinct. So, sir please I need no reward. I'm just happy to have helped her, and I've made a friend in while doing it."
He smiled and said, "My daughter said you might say that but I'm not taking no for an answer. So, you will meet one person for a few dates and if he isn't satisfied, I'll think of another reward." I looked up, "You are planning to set me up? But why sir?" "Well, miss Jacobs this man thinks work is more important than finding a wife and you seem to think the same so it helps me. So ill ask Lilly to tell when and where the date will find place make sure you are there. That will be all you may go." I nodded and got up, "Yes sir."
As I exited the building Lilly came running up to me and said, "What happened?" I looked at her and smiled, "Nothing, I was told I could continue to pick you up after school and before school. And you father also wants me to marry someone if that person wants to." She looked at me with a smile so that I was still able to pick her up. Her brother then asked, "do you know anything about the guy my father is setting you up with?" I shook my head, "No all he said is that he will tell Lilly, and she needs to tell me. Also, that I need to go one three dates and if the man isn't satisfied, he will give me another reward."
Lilly hugged me and I said, "Shouldn't I go back to school?" Asher looked at me and said, "No I'm sure you don't want to see Amy's face she'll probably give you a hard time." I looked up, "It will just be like a normal day." I instantly closed my mouth with my hand. Asher looked at me and said, "What do you mean by 'a normal day'?" I looked down and said, "Well she has bullied me ever since high school started, and I just got used to it. I mean her boyfriend who is my brother, he doesn't seem to care so I just stopped paying attention to her."
He didn't say anything but that was when we stopped talking. A driver took me home and I went to the park. There I saw Emily and her mom. "Cathrine!" I yelled to get her attention. She turned and looked at me, "Oh Emily nice to see you again."
I walked towards her as she gave Tony to me, "Catharine I may not be able to see you often. The mayor hired me to look after his youngest daughter and he wants to set me up with someone. But I promise once I've saved enough money, I'll buy a house where all of us can live in." she looked at me with a big smile, "You are such an angle Emily, thank you, for everything." She gave me a hug. As we sat down, we talked and talked until it was time for me to go home. I helped her get Emily home and said goodbye. I started walking home and for some reason Asher came to mind. I was confused.
Once I reached my house, I opened the door and Jake's mom hugged me and said, "Are you alright I heard the mayor asked to see you?" she looked at me worried and I replied, "He gave me a job offer and I said yes, so in a few moths I'll move out to my own home. Because all I do is cause trouble here, so I'll be moving out." She seemed shocked but knew I was telling the truth. So, she just nodded in silence. I went to my room and packed a bit of my clothes. And then I went to bed.
