Chapter 4 - breaking bones

It has been a week since my reawakening. Hans grue placed me in the other wing. Where the awakened studied to become prestigious mages and skilled warriors.

I was here to hone my magic. But my reality was different. Like a dark malicious shadow. My father's name made every instructor look at me with disdain.

And my unawakened status. Which was boldly written on my ID card which I was to present to every instructor before entering thier lectures made them sneer and hiss at me. Disgust was written on most of thier faces. But they could not object to Hans grue.

I was bigger than everybody in my class and the most useless in the eyes of the instructors.

I played dummy in all the practical that I attended.

I was already sixteen years old in a class filled with twelve year Olds.

"Class B thirteen." The class filled with the weakest of the weak. And surprisingly among weak people, you find bullies.

[Leave our school and never come back you bigger for nothing]

[I pray you did in a dungeon you oaf]

[How does he even breathe in this class. With too .any awakened present]

[I heard his father was lost in a dungeon]

[I hear his mother slept with an unawakened that was why he ended like this.

[ I hear his father killed himself because his mother cheated]

In the rowdy class during free period. They all dint care to hide thier thoughts about thier new class mate.

[I don't think he will be able to survive combat classes. Poor thing.]

I closed my eyes and relaxed my shoulder. This has been going on for a week now.

There was no way I will let it get to me.

Our instructor for the next class walks in. His dark brown eyes meet mine almost immediately.

Ryker turns to the board and begin to write . The class silently Follow.

After he was done with theory. Everyone stood and followed behind him. They all knew except me that his combat class was not theory alone.

At the training hall we were paired and each team would fight against another. I was the only one without a partner.

Until I glanced to the end there stood a timid girl with large round eyes.

She did not have anyone to pair with.

Ash snow was her name. She was the bottom of the class until I came along to replace her as the bottom of the class.

Would you like to be my team member I asked.

With a polite smile on my face. Or I hoped it was polite enough for her.

"Yes." she answered with relief flushing over her.

We stood together in silence. I and my first new partner stood qnd waited for the duel to comence.

It was breathtaking. And I could say it was my favorite class of the day. I grew excited as I watched each battle. Twelve year old fighting fiercely with magic and fist. Competitors were allowed to use whatever they had at thier disposal to best their opponents.

With instructor Ryker as the refree and a healer by the side waiting for those broken bones and fractured limbs to come to her.

The student went all out. Knowing they will be put back together no matter what happened.

Our turn had finally come. I and ash stood side by side as two others came before us. I remembered these two were part of those talking bad earlier about my parents.

This was a fair place to unleash my pent up anger.

As we took our stance the whistle blew and the two charged towards us. Ash ran behind me. An act that made our spectators to burst into laughter.

It wasn't funny to me since. She was supposed to be my partner. Not the reason why we would fail.

The boys seemed to work in sync. I understand from the way they moved they were professional fighters and understood the act of combat

Luckily for me they were basic acolytes.

Thier energy core was not that developed. So thier hits did not leave more than bruises. I did not know how to use my energy core yet and Hans instructed that I shouldn't use it against any student no matter the case.

I was to never use my core in front of other students. So my only uption was to use my physical strength.

we are so lucky to be the ones fighting this two losers." The boy on the right drew thompson smirked as he paced forward in a combative stance.

yeah you are right his partner agreed. A happy smile on his face as he licked his lips. Running his hand through his blond hair.

they were overwhelming until I switched from defence to offense. Protecting ash was the plan initially until I realised that the only way she would be protected was if I won.

Grabbing the leg of one of drew in mid air. I I pulled his leg and heard his bone shift out of its socket. Cold sweat covered my body immediately. The second rushed towards me with a flying kick only to return back to the air gasping for breath.

The audience watched silently as the cheer died . The healer rushed intot he ring and soon the first boy was calm back his leg Has been fixed back to normal.

For the second I watched as blue smoke flowed from the healer into the body of the second .

Breathing a sigh of relief the healer turned to look at me. "Did you plan to kill them.

"You should not use that kind of energy on them knowing you are tiers above them." Her eyes turning darker. " or should I make you understand. "

"no, I understand perfectly I said. Taking steps away from her.

"He has not awakened yet." ryker chipped in.

You must be mistaken ryker. He did not use his energy to break this acolytes. He used his physical strength. Only those tiers above an acolyte can break or fracture one. If he is not awakened. Then explain to me how he did this."

Ryker was silent. There was no possible explanation he could think of.

His eyes shift to me, tell me again who took you for your enrolment examination?

And what is your name again?

" Zeggler Harken." my voice shaky as my name roll of my tongue.

Xavier's son! He exclaimed. I knew I was in trouble again because of my name.
