For the past seven days, Evan had undergone intense training according to the quest given by the Limitless Blade System. Every morning, before heading to work, he would wake up early to jog around his apartment complex. The cold air stung his skin, and his legs, which initially felt heavy, were now getting used to the rhythm of his steps.
The first day was the hardest. His breath was ragged, sweat drenched his body before the sun had fully risen on the horizon.
"Damn... only fifteen minutes and I'm already like this..." he muttered, resting his hands on his knees.
But he had no choice but to keep running. He wasn't just doing this for himself—he was doing it for Lilia too.
Day Two: A Tough Adaptation
At work, Evan tried to use every opportunity to train his body. During breaks or whenever he had spare time, he did push-ups, sit-ups, and shadow sparring with the virtual sword visible only to him through the system.
One afternoon at the logistics warehouse, while Evan was lifting a large wooden crate, Marco—a burly, bald-headed man—noticed him. Suddenly, Evan put the crate down, dropped to the floor, and started doing push-ups.
Marco frowned. "Hey, Evan, what's up with you?"
"You just started doing push-ups out of nowhere... Did you get punished or something?" he asked, confused.
Evan finished one set of push-ups, then stood up, wiping his sweat. "Ah, no, I just... wanted to train my body a little," he said, panting.
At that moment, Rudy and Jonas, two other coworkers, approached.
"Are you training your body? In the middle of work? Are you a laborer or an athlete?" Rudy asked, still bewildered.
"Maybe he's on a secret mission!" Jonas added playfully.
"Or maybe he's in military training without us knowing!"
The other workers burst into laughter, while Evan only smiled awkwardly. He couldn't explain that he was receiving daily quests from a strange system in his head.
Day Four: The Pain That Started to Feel Normal
At night, after returning home from work, Evan still had to complete his shadow sparring. Even though his body was exhausted, he stood in his small room, swinging his virtual sword repeatedly.
"Attack!"
He imagined an opponent in front of him. Every strike, every sword movement, felt sharper and more precise. His body was developing better endurance, even though his muscles still ached.
Lilia, his younger sister, who had just come out of the bathroom, looked at him in confusion. "Brother, what are you doing?"
Evan paused for a moment, then smiled. "Just a little training..."
Lilia frowned. "Don't push yourself too hard. You need enough rest too."
Evan nodded, even though deep down he knew he couldn't stop now.
Day Seven: The Results of Hard Work
On the final day, Evan's body felt lighter. He completed his jogging without feeling too exhausted, and the push-ups and sit-ups that once seemed impossible were now much easier.
During his lunch break, he sat in a corner of the warehouse and checked his status window.
