Chapter 14 - Roommates and Class Assignments

As Asura left the plaza, he kept thinking about the words of the two deans. He wanted to become stronger, to be guided by the powerful. Seeing a powerful person flying in the air for the first time had left a deep impact on him.

Before he knew it, he had arrived at the dorm. When Asura opened the door, he found three boys sitting in the living room chairs. As soon as they saw him, their eyes all turned toward him.

Asura guessed that these three were his future roommates and awkwardly forced a smile. Before he could speak, a well-dressed young man with outstanding charisma stood up and said, "You must be the late arrival to Room 138!"

"I heard that the last arrivals are all the talented students specially recruited!"

The well-dressed young man spoke with a refreshing tone, and the other two, hearing this information, began to look at Asura more carefully.

Asura's face turned red, and he awkwardly said, "No, no, I'm just lucky, just lucky!"

The other three assumed he was just being modest and didn't press further. The well-dressed young man laughed heartily and said, "We're all in the same dorm, so don't be so humble!"

"We'll be living under the same roof for nine years, let's look out for each other!"

"Are you all from the Varenxi Empire? Let's introduce ourselves. My name is Jin Ze, I'm a Water Magic Level 3 Mage." He then turned toward a blond young man sitting in the chair.

The blond young man, although dressed simply, had the demeanor of someone from a noble family, his every move exuding refinement. He nodded slightly to Asura and said, "I'm Arthur, Level 1 Warrior."

Asura clicked his tongue in surprise. There were already students here who had reached the level needed for the exam after three months. This academy truly had many geniuses!

The last young man, with messy hair that looked like a bird's nest, shyly stood up and said, "I'm Angelo, you can call me Xiao Luo. I'm studying weapons and equipment forging!"

Asura thought of what the instructor had said about the academy enrolling one hundred non-combat professionals, and he guessed that Xiao Luo must be one of them.

At this point, the three turned their attention to Asura, waiting for him to introduce himself. Asura immediately straightened his posture and said, "My name is Asura, and I'm a Level 3 Warrior!"

After Asura spoke, the three roommates looked at him with doubt.

Asura knew they were probably still thinking about how he got into the academy through a special talented student quota. He was just about to explain the admission test when Jin Ze, the well-dressed young man, cut in and said, "Alright, let's all help each other from now on. By the way, how old are you this year?"

Asura told them his age. All four boys were born in the same year, though the months differed.

According to their age, in the dorm, Jin Ze was the oldest, followed by Arthur, then Asura, and finally Angelo.

After a brief chat, it seemed like the conversation lost steam, and the four just stared at each other for a while. Finally, the cool-headed Arthur said, "I'm going back to my room to rest," breaking the awkward silence.

They all exchanged farewells and returned to their rooms.

Asura was overjoyed as he lay down on the simple single bed in his room. After six months of traveling and enduring the hardships of life on the road, this was the first time he'd slept in a bed since leaving home.

As he lay there, a wave of emotion surged within him, and he nearly started crying. But he held back the tears, knowing they wouldn't help him. Now, he could only rely on himself.

In just one day, he had already met two students at a higher level than him, and he felt a great pressure and urgency to become stronger.

Lost in his thoughts, the young man unknowingly fell asleep.

The next morning, accustomed to waking up early for the journey, Asura woke up early. After a brief physical stretch, he checked his academy badge with his mind. There was a new message instructing him to report to Classroom 13 in the designated teaching building.

Asura left his room and saw Jin Ze, the oldest, and Arthur, the second oldest, having a simple breakfast in the downstairs cafeteria.

The academy provided free meals in the cafeteria, but most students preferred to buy some food and store it in their bags or storage spaces, eating whenever they had time. This saved the time spent eating in the cafeteria, allowing them to use it for training instead.

Jin Ze, seeing that Asura had arrived late and probably hadn't bought any food, smiled and handed him a roasted meat sandwich.

Asura thanked him repeatedly and sat down to eat. Xiao Luo, the youngest, hadn't woken up yet. Asura wondered how their schedules were arranged.

After finishing breakfast, the three roommates went their separate ways to their own classrooms. Asura, wearing his warrior outfit, wondered what kind of lessons he would have today.

However, when he arrived at the designated teaching building, he felt something was off.

Everyone entering and leaving the building, both older and new students, was wearing magic robes, except for him. He stood there, dumbfounded in his warrior attire.

At that moment, a crushing thought crossed Asura's mind—had he been assigned to the Magic Academy by mistake?

But he had never practiced magic before! Being assigned as a Magic Apprentice would be a disastrous start!

Asura suddenly recalled the middle-aged instructor's meaningful smile during the entrance test, and he gritted his teeth in frustration...

He silently vowed to pluck that instructor's beard someday!

But what should he do now? After thinking for a moment, he gritted his teeth and stepped into the historical Magic Academy building.

When Asura arrived at Classroom 13 and stepped inside, he found the classroom, which was originally empty, even quieter now!

The eight or nine students who had arrived earlier were all staring in surprise at the black-haired boy in warrior clothes.

Ignoring their gazes, Asura walked straight to a seat in the back near the window.

In front of him, a chubby boy came to his senses, turned around, and asked, "Excuse me, are you in the wrong classroom? There are no Warrior classes in this building!"

Asura didn't know how to answer. He helplessly said, "I wish I had walked into the wrong classroom, but I'm here to report."

The chubby boy was even more confused by Asura's words. The other students also thought Asura was a strange person, and they soon lost interest in him.

They chatted in small groups, and occasionally, new students would walk in without causing much attention.

Until a silver-haired young girl walked gracefully into the classroom.

The entire room froze once again.

If Asura's oddness had shocked the students, then the girl's beauty had made them all lose focus again!

The girl walked calmly into the room, and at that moment, a tall, thin boy wearing an extravagant mage's robe immediately flashed a bright smile.

The thin boy beside Asura quickly pulled out a chair and, gesturing towards the girl, said, "This beautiful lady, please sit here!" He made a very gentlemanly gesture to invite her to sit.

However, the girl didn't even glance at him and walked straight past him, heading for the aisle next to him.

The boy immediately felt embarrassed, but everyone's attention was still focused on the girl.

No one noticed his awkwardness, which made him feel a little more at ease. He quickly returned to his seat.

Asura recognized the girl who had just entered — it was Clara! Upon remembering that she was also a Thunder Magic user, he wasn't surprised. No wonder they were in the same class.

When Asura recognized Clara, she also noticed him. It couldn't be helped—his outfit was simply too eye-catching! Even though he had tried to sit in the back to be inconspicuous, his appearance still stood out.

Clara was momentarily taken aback by his mismatched attire, but then she remembered his quirky performance during the entrance exam and couldn't help but smile slightly.

That smile caused the chubby boy sitting in front of Asura to lose all sense of composure. In his mind, there was only one thought: "The goddess actually smiled at me!"

What shocked the chubby boy even more was that the goddess seemed to be walking toward him.

She finally sat down diagonally behind him, which was to Asura's right. Though she didn't sit next to him, there was only a narrow aisle separating them...

The chubby boy was so excited that he didn't dare move. His mind was filled with thoughts like: "Why did the goddess sit there? Is she sitting there so she can see me at any time?"

"How should I behave? Does my hairstyle make my profile look good...?"

After Clara sat down, she briefly scanned the surroundings. Then, suddenly tilting her head, she stopped speaking and just stared at Asura.

Asura, a bit confused by the girl's behavior, thought, wasn't she avoiding talking to me yesterday? What's going on today?

But then he figured it didn't matter; a man should be magnanimous. He decided to greet her.

Asura awkwardly forced a smile, raised his hand, then let it fall, and sheepishly said, "Uh, long time no see!"

His awkward greeting made Clara burst out laughing with a soft "Pfft."

The silver-haired girl, Clara, smiled sweetly and called him a "fool."
