Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Life Once More.

In the deep of the Abyss where not a spec of light lived, where the lack of heat was so chilling that souls would freeze. Where a scream would be nothing more than a gentle breeze two colliding beings fought.

One was the Ruler of this Abyss who for the first time met a foe who could push it back.

The Ruler of this dark Abyss was a beast that would rend the minds of any mortal who laid eyes on it. Shapes that mortal minds were not meant to gaze upon, mouths where eyes should be.

Barbed tentacles surged like a sea, incomprehensible words that would drive any man into the depths of madness.

Mouths screamed, screeched, cursed, and writhed as the beast fought against the one being who had obstructed its invasion. The Abyss had arrived on this world 1000 years ago to feed on all the minds of those who lived on this world.

The Abyss had done this exact thing for ages and in that time devoured champions considered unbeatable.

Sages with magics so powerful they were more like miracles were drowned in the sea of the Abyss. Gods whose divinity made them believe that they were immune to the Abyss had their divine sparks eaten.

Demon Kings who felt they were evil enough to rule the Abyss had been enslaved

However, in this world lives one man who not only fought back against the Abyss he even pushed it back. The beings who came from the Abyss could have their forms destroyed, but never truly killed so they never feared death.

However, this one man not only could destroy their forms but actually kill them.

This had never happened before so the Abyss felt for the first time an emotion that it was not supposed to have. Fear.

Its legions of Abyss-born monstrosities descended on the world and yet this champion always rose to the occasion and always destroyed its legions.

His magic was a magic that the Abyss had never encountered before. Desolation Magic, a magic that was above even Destruction Magic could destroy even souls.

This magic destroyed all it touched even the Abyss was not spared this. And this champion used it to great effect against the Abyss.

His title of Knight of Desolation came because of his magic. During this long war against the Abyss, his world suffered greatly.

All the races of the world had joined as one and crafted two pieces of gear just for their champion. His Magic destroyed all it touched even his own armor and weapon.

As such, they pooled their magics, techniques, and materials and forged a set of armor and a giant two-handed sword which amplified the effects of his magic. This very armor and sword were the only things that the ruler of the Abyss feared.

Each swing of this sword cleaved through its tentacles and kept it from healing. The armor destroyed its attacks and the Abyss which was inhospitable could not even touch Draven.

He had been fighting this thing for the past year and now was the time to end this.

Draven had reached his limit as his armor was not in pristine condition. It was riddled with holes that pierced through his organs and his body.

Draven was the Champion of the World, each of the races had blessed him to save them. The Queen of the Gods, the goddess of light, and life had blessed him with the highest form of regeneration.

The Dragon God of War had given him his Blood Essence which gave Draven the frightening strength of the dragons. The Dwarven God had blessed his armor and sword and had personally participated to forge it.

The Strongest Spirit King had personally taught Draven to better understand his magic.

The Elven God King had allowed Draven to bathe in the essence of the World Tree making his mana regeneration near instant. The Beast God had taught Draven the secret art of the Beastkin to release their innate fighting intent.

The Demon God of Murder had blessed Draven making him stronger as long as he murdered. As a human, Draven represented them with his adaptability to anything, but even with all of those blessings, the Abyss ruler was a being that would not go down easy.

For the past year, they had ripped into each other countless times and were reaching their end. Draven roared and charged through the sea of tentacles and slashed, cleaved, and stabbed through.

Each time he swung a formless energy would follow and seemingly destroy the tentacles.

Desolation Magic was near formless, but even then it was very real. A slight graze would destroy a being in its entirety never to be resurrected.

Through this Draven had whittled down the Abyss King to just this weak being, but the Abyss King had done the same.

This was the end of the bout and it seemed that neither one would survive this. They both understood that and they sought to make sure the other would follow them.

Draven raised his massive two-handed sword and channeled his Destruction magic and his very own life force to the blade that had been forged by the united effort of the Dwarves, Beast Men, Elves, Demons, Gods, Spirits, Humans, and Dragons.

The most powerful weapon created in the history of this world. The only time that the races had worked together on anything.

And the Abyss King drew in the otherworldly powers of it's home in the Abyss.

Its tentacles seemed to fuse together to create an impossibly black blade. Draven and the Abyss King unleashed their killer attacks which would have razed worlds.

The Abyss Sword cut through Draven's armor like it did not exist and cleaved from shoulder to waist.

Draven's Desolation Blade tore through the body of the Abyss King erasing a large part of its body. This last exchange was horrific and no matter how much power the two godly beings had they were dying.

The Abyss King had lived and conquered worlds for millions of years and now it was at death's door.

How could it fall here? Death for a being that should not know death was horrifying. It writhed and tried to fix its broken body, but
