This Problematic Original Host
After Su He finished her bath, she finally felt alive again.
She had been sweating all day and could even smell her own body odor.
The countryside nights were truly comfortable—neither too hot nor too cold, with fresh air.
The children's hair was short, so it dried quickly, but Su He's took much longer. She found a fan in a corner and used it to dry her hair halfway before entering the room.
The room was peacefully quiet, with the two children already asleep, sprawled all over.
Seeing such a heartwarming scene, Su He couldn't help but smile as she tucked them in.
Feeling the rough, fuzzy texture of the bedsheet, Su He made a decision instantly.
She entered the space and headed to the home essentials section to look for bedding sets and duvet covers.
So expensive—1,000 points? That's daylight robbery!
This set was even crazier—10,000 points? A blanket that expensive?
"Is there any customer service here?" Su He called out directly in the space.
"Hello, Support Agent 101 at your service. How may I assist you?" A soft, sweet voice responded immediately.
"I only have 423 points left. I'd like to exchange for some affordable bedding sets and duvet covers," Su He said.
She didn't plan to exchange clothes in the space—she could buy those in town later. But the bedding in this era was too low-quality, and Su He refused to put up with it.
"Hello, I've switched the display to bedding sets and duvet covers under 400 points for you," the support agent said. Su He turned and saw that the scene before her had indeed changed.
This tech is amazing. Su He couldn't help but marvel.
"Alright, thank you."
Su He picked out a cotton blanket and a bedding set, not daring to buy anything else.
Though she wanted to replace all the bedding, her points were far too limited.
Just these items cost her 200 points—and they were the cheapest options available.
But even the cheapest here was better than what they currently had on the bed.
She'd wash the bedding set tomorrow before putting it on the bed.
She couldn't depend too heavily on the space. To live well, she needed real-world money.
The space could only exchange items, not this world's currency, so Su He began figuring out how to make some cash. She was completely broke.
After exiting the space and storing the exchanged items, Su He looked at the two soundly sleeping children. She fixed their sleeping positions and was just settling into bed when Zai Zai suddenly spoke.
"Mom."
"Hmm? What's wrong?" Su He leaned down and stroked his head.
"Mom, please don't go back to how you were, okay? Me and my sister had such a great time today," Zai Zai said sleepily.
"Alright, I promise you I won't go back, alright? Go to sleep now."
Perhaps because he was too sleepy, hearing Su He's confirmation, Zai Zai closed his eyes and went back to sleep.
Exhausted from the long day and carrying such extra weight, Su He was also extremely tired. After tucking herself in, she fell asleep almost immediately.
Half-asleep, Su He began to dream.
Like watching someone else's life, the protagonist of the dream was none other than the original occupant of this body before her transmigration—Su He.
Her father, Su Shiming, was a schoolteacher in the city. Thanks to his modest teaching salary, the family wasn't wealthy, but compared to others in that era, they were getting by better than most.
Her mother was called Wen Qing, a woman devoted to her family. She was skilled with her hands and had once been an embroiderer, but after marrying Su Shiming, she took on odd sewing jobs to help make ends meet.
In their own circles, the couple was a pair others admired.
However, Wen Qing almost died giving birth to Su He and could never conceive again. As a result, the couple spoiled her rotten, which ultimately led to disastrous results.
Su He was raised in luxury—all the best food at home was reserved for her alone. Combined with her natural build, she became severely overweight from childhood and was constantly nicknamed 'Chubby.'
While chubbiness might be cute in a child, failing to slim down as she grew older made Su He increasingly insecure. She began to resent her parents for her appearance, blaming them for her weight.
She was rebellious and rude, but because her father was a respected teacher and she herself was large and intimidating, she became a local bully in her neighborhood. No one liked her—people avoided her whenever possible.
As their only child, her parents tolerated her behavior despite her lack of manners, as she had never committed any major wrongdoing.
By the time Su He turned eighteen, no one had come forward to propose marriage. Having already entered her awkward teen years, she was crushed by this rejection.
One day, a university graduate whom her father had taught came to visit. Su He was smitten the moment she saw him. That man, unfortunately, was none other than Fu Tinghua, the father of her twins.
Smart enough to realize Fu Tinghua would never be interested in her, she turned to the black market, where her so-called friends helped her purchase an aphrodisiac for a small fortune.
Choosing a day when her parents were out, she went to the hospital where Fu Tinghua worked and got him to come over under the pretense of her father's invitation. After successfully drugging him, Su He took advantage of him.
When her parents returned and learned the truth, Su He was slapped by them for the first time in her life.
To salvage her reputation, her father, Su Shiming, had to beg on bended knee and plead with Fu Tinghua not to expose the incident.
Out of respect for his former teacher, Fu Tinghua reluctantly agreed.
A month later, however, Su He went to Fu Tinghua claiming she was pregnant and demanded he take responsibility.
Naturally skeptical, Fu Tinghua took her to his hospital for an ultrasound, which confirmed not only her pregnancy but also that she was carrying twins.
In that era, reputation was held in high regard, especially for someone like Fu Tinghua—a well-educated university graduate. Thus, he decided to marry Su He, the "dung" to his "flower."
The wedding, which shocked both Fu Tinghua's and Su He's social circles, became the talk of the town for all the wrong reasons.
Everyone marveled at how accomplished Fu Tinghua was—a medical student from a prestigious university in the capital, dashing and cultured.
Rumors spread that the director of his hospital had wanted to introduce his own daughter to Fu Tinghua, only for him to turn around and marry Su He instead. Truly, it was a case of "a flower planted in cow dung."
After their marriage, Fu Tinghua remained indifferent toward Su He. He had only married for the sake of the children, so while he allowed her to live in his workplace-provided home, he often stayed in the hospital's small dormitory, unwilling to return.
Even when he did go home, the two slept in separate rooms—Fu Tinghua never touched Su He again.
Su He, however, wasn't about to live like a nun. Having gone to such lengths to secure such a handsome husband, she refused to resign herself to an empty bed.
