Chapter 23 - 23

Chapter 23 Flame Durian Sapling

When it came to her looks, Su He definitely wanted to make some changes.

So she started using skincare products right away. The upgraded versions in the Space System were much better than those from her own time.

Once the kids were asleep, Su He comfortably applied a face mask, did her full skincare routine, and then went to bed.

This time period didn't even have electric fans, but the countryside was actually quite cool—so cool she needed to cover herself with a blanket at night.

She slept deeply, dreamlessly.

When she woke up the next morning, Su He felt well-rested but achy all over.

Yesterday's workload had been too much, and she wasn't used to farm work—her hands had gotten a few blisters.

Fortunately, the space medicine was very effective. By morning, the pain was gone.

Before making breakfast, Su He made sure to check the space forum and found several people had DM'd her with offers. However, they were all in the range of three to four thousand points, which disappointed her a bit.

It seemed the highest bid was still from the first person who had offered five thousand points.

When she opened their chat, she noticed they had sent her another message, but the system had blocked it.

"Eight thousand points, how about it? I really need these centipedes urgently—a certain medicine requires them. If you receive this message, please reply. If the price isn't satisfactory, we can still negotiate."

Eight thousand—this was a pleasant surprise.

Su He immediately accepted the deal.

For transactions like this on the forum, you needed the system's help, and the platform took a 5% cut.

In the end, Su He received seven thousand six hundred points from the deal.

Now, her account was up to nearly eighteen thousand points, and Su He decided to order seventeen durian tree saplings.

It wasn't like she had a choice—she couldn't afford more at the moment.

After breakfast, Su He headed out with her two kids to the Fu family's place.

At this time, the villagers were either heading to the fields or the construction sites. When they saw Su He, they couldn't help but turn their heads to look.

Su He: "..."

Why did it feel like she was receiving the entire village's attention upon returning?

But who was Su He? She didn't care at all.

Holding her kids' hands, she walked straight to the Fu residence.

The villagers were stunned when they saw her.

"Isn't that the Fu family's youngest daughter-in-law?"

"Why does she look so much thinner now?"

"Yeah, I've seen her before too—she's definitely lost a lot of weight."

"Enough chatter—back to work. So what if she's thinner?"

That's country life for you—little entertainment, so people love to gossip. Even a stray dog wouldn't escape their gossip.

When they arrived at the Fu household, the men of the family were just about to leave.

"Hey there, sis-in-law!" Zhang Xiaohua said with a smile.

"Hey, Big Sis, Second Sis, Third Sis... Let's head up the mountain later," Su He said to them.

"Sure, we were just about to go look for you, and here you are," Chen Sufen said as she stepped out of the house. They'd all swapped into long sleeves.

Just then, Wu Yanhua also came out. She glanced at the two kids trailing behind Su He and said, "Let them stay home with me."

Su He didn't answer immediately but instead asked the kids for their opinion.

"Will you stay home with Grandma and your older siblings?"

The kids stuck to her like glue and didn't want to leave Su He's side, but they reluctantly nodded anyway.

They knew they had to behave and not always hold their mother back from work.

Before leaving, Su He packed the kids' pockets with candy and cookies. She had initially thought of handing them out to the other children directly but decided to let her own kids distribute them instead.

With the promise of treats, the other kids probably wouldn't bully them.

Man, parenting's no joke—it takes so much effort.

When they got up the mountain, Su He first walked her sisters-in-law through how to dig the holes.

Customer service showed Su He the template for *Fire Durian* trees, which were practically full-grown saplings—several times larger than ordinary durian seedlings. No wonder they fruited in just two months.

So the holes needed to be quite large, and Su He walked them through every step.

After giving instructions, Su He said she needed to grab the durian saplings and told them to start digging first.

The sisters-in-law had assumed Su He meant tiny saplings, but when Su He came back hauling a whole dang tree on her back, all three of them were stunned.

"Whoa, these 'seedlings' are huge! Why didn't you say so earlier? We could've helped you carry them!" Chen Sufen quickly put down her hoe and said.

"It's fine, I'll move them. You just focus on digging the holes," Su He panted.

"Yikes, these are massive—we'll have to dig the holes deeper," He Fangfang remarked.

"Su He, let's help you schlep everything uphill first," Zhang Xiaohua said, ready to follow Su He.

Su He cursed herself inwardly. If she had known, she would've come earlier to stash the saplings here and just claimed she had carried them up beforehand.

Now she had to keep up the charade.

"I hauled them in shifts. The saplings are just down that stretch of the path," Su He lied through her teeth.

When they reached the spot Su He mentioned, they all stared at her in amazement.

"Su He, I underestimated you! In such a short time, you managed to carry so many trees here?" Chen Sufen said, her jaw dropped.

"No, no, I'd stashed them up here earlier. I only carried them a short distance," Su He quickly clarified.

She wasn't sure if they believed her, but they certainly wouldn't guess that Su He could pull stuff outta thin air.

The four of them worked together to schlep the saplings uphill, and by the end, they plopped down, wiped out.

"Is this really a sapling? It's almost as big as a regular tree," He Fangfang quipped.

Su He winced slightly but quickly explained, "It's precisely because the saplings are already so large that their growth cycle is shorter. In just two months, they'll definitely bear fruit."

"Su He, is this Fire Durian you mentioned really that delicious? Can it actually sell at such a high price?" Zhang Xiaohua blurted out.

When their father-in-law told them that Su He planned to grow fruit to sell later, the family was stunned.

Nowadays, running your own business is seen as shameful—most folks steer clear. Su He, being from the city, surprised everyone by deciding to grow fruit and sell it.

The family hadn't discussed how to split the profits if they actually made money, but the Fu family didn't mind either way.

To them, it was just about helping Su He out—just pitching in.

The Fu family had often relied on Fu Tinghua's support and had his back, so none of the sisters-in-law objected to helping his wife grow fruit.

But none of them could have imagined that the profits from these durians would bring a life-changing windfall to their family's lives in the future.
