Chapter 1 - Bomb Them

"Imagine wishing for things you could never get, only for life to take a stupid joke seriously. Rack, a lowly boy with little to no ambition, found this out the hard way"

"One fateful day, Rack's best friend, Grand, asked him what wish he would choose if he had any. Rack, not taking him seriously, flippantly replied, 'I wish monsters appeared, and we all got powers!'"

But then, something extraordinary happened. Huge, giant pods appeared, followed by a spaceship. Grand, stunned, thought, 'Is this an alien invasion?' Still in awe, Rack pulled him away, saving him from the debris flying their way.

Grand, thanking Rack for saving him, asked what was happening. But Rack said he didn't know. While they were wondering what was going on, they heard cries. Looking to the side, they saw six-foot lizardmen with spears attacking people. Most people were brutally stabbed. Rack pulled Grand down so the lizards wouldn't notice them

But they still caught the attention of the six-foot lizardman. They tried running into a back alley, but it followed. Rack now confirmed that it was blind but used sound to locate people. Rack told Grand he should trust him, no matter what. Grand, scared, nodded. Rack told Grand to get the lizardman's attention so it would chase him. Then, when it was off guard, Rack would stab it.

Seriously?! Fucking life, don't do this to me! The plan was perfect! Grand had that blind, scaled bastard completely focused on him, and I was just about to end it. Then, snap. A goddamn twig. A twig! Now, that thing's spinning around, its spear whistling through the air, and I'm scrambling backwards, cursing my clumsy feet. Grand's screaming, and I can hear the lizardman hissing, its breath hot and rancid. This isn't how it was supposed to go. Not at all. I thought I had this, I really did. I guess wishing for monsters and powers wasn't as cool as it sounded.

That thing rushed me, a blur of scales and fury. It kicked me, right in the gut. I swear, I heard a rib crack. A sharp, sickening snap. 'Big guy thinks I'm afraid of you,' I thought, trying to keep my voice steady, but inside? Inside, I was screaming. I'm gonna get shredded. Torn apart by this monster. I mean, seriously? Imagine dying to something shorter than you. It's humiliating! I can barely breathe, and that spear is swinging again. This is it, isn't it? This is how it ends. A stupid joke, a blind lizardman, and a broken rib. Fantastic.

Just when I thought I was a goner, Grand, bless his panicking soul, seized his moment. He grabbed this massive rock – a boulder, practically – and smashed it down on the lizardman's head. There was a sickening thump, and the thing staggered, nearly immobilized. I let out a shaky laugh. "You son of a bitch! Took you long enough! All that 'aura farming' training finally paid off, huh, bitch?" I was still reeling from the kick, but a surge of adrenaline, and maybe a little bit of hysterical relief, was pumping through me. That lizardman was still twitching, but it wasn't moving much. We might actually get out of this.

Grand grabbed my arm, yanking me away. We started moving, fast, thinking that rock had finally done the trick. But then… it stood back up. I just stared, disbelief washing over me. "No way," I whispered. Grand was frantic, telling me to run, to leave him. But I just laughed, a bitter, shaky sound. "We're in this together," I said. "We wished for this mess, didn't we? We're seeing it through." I couldn't leave him. Not now. Not after everything.
