Chapter 32: Tiandu
Daredevil breathed a sigh of relief, realizing the imposing man before him didn't believe Mrs. Gao.
Claire, however, looked at Yang Xu with clear concern. "Since Madam Gao won't help you, won't she tell others? Or notify the Oracle...?"
Yang Xu waved his hand dismissively, his tone casual. "It doesn't matter who she tells. I'm just casting a wide net. The 'God's Legacy' has never been easily accessed. It's dangerous and mysterious!"
He paused, looking at their questioning faces. "And do you know why it's called 'God's Legacy'?" He then warned, "These powers originate from the remnants of fallen gods. If you can't control them, they will devour you, turning you into a stepping stone for the return of those dead deities."
Matt, a lawyer by day and Daredevil by night, was constantly exposed to crime. Hearing the explanation of "God's Legacy," various conspiracy theories immediately surfaced in his mind. My body is possessed by an unknown entity, and I'm being manipulated towards death...
Anxiously, he looked at Yang Xu. "I remember you said in the factory that the 'God's Legacy' will only be awakened by the right person! Does this suitable person have similar characteristics to those dead gods?"
Yang Xu raised his eyebrows, feigning surprise at Daredevil's urgent question. After a moment of silence, he slowly confirmed, "You are right! 'God's Legacy' does prioritize humans with similar characteristics. Once a person is chosen, it activates instantly and begins to transform their body. The weak bodies and spirits of mortals have no resistance to divine power. They will surely go berserk, causing great chaos and destruction. I intend to find the person who holds the 'Oracle' before that happens. If not, I will defeat the 'God's Legacy' itself!"
Claire and Daredevil were both stunned by Yang Xu's explanation.
[God's Legacy, gain Matt Murdock's reputation value 41]
[God's Legacy, gain Claire Temple's reputation value 14]
From the perspective of reputation gain, specializing in these superheroes and villains is also a good choice. Yang Xu nodded silently, noting the system message.
When Daredevil regained his composure, he looked at Yang Xu again, his voice serious. "Come to me if you need anything!"
Yang Xu nodded. "If I do, I certainly won't hesitate."
"Wait, I have another question!" Claire exclaimed, her eyes shining with excitement, like a child who had just learned magic existed. "Can you tell me the name of your organization? When I was a kid, I really wanted to receive an admission letter from a magic school."
Looking at Claire's eager face and Daredevil's attentive ears, Yang Xu smiled. "The organization I belong to is called [Tiandu]."
…
The tallest building in Hell's Kitchen offered a panoramic view of the entire city from its top floor. Standing there, behind his desk, Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin, accepted a cigar from his subordinate, took a deep puff, and slowly exhaled a plume of smoke.
Through the haze, he observed the frail old woman with a hunched back standing not far away. "Mrs. Gao, the factory you control seems to have encountered some trouble."
Madam Gao leaned heavily on her cane and slowly replied to the burly figure, "I did encounter some difficulties just now, but it's nothing significant."
Kingpin's expression remained casual. "It seems Madam Gao has other plans." He knew that a meeting between him and Mrs. Gao in Hell's Kitchen wouldn't be about something as trivial as a processing plant.
Extinguishing his cigar, Kingpin fixed his gaze on the elderly woman and asked meaningfully, "Mrs. Gao, can you tell me who destroyed the factory? If you do, I can build another one for you."
Facing Kingpin's offer, Mrs. Gao gently shook her head in refusal. "That factory was merely a convenient disguise. But now, there's no need for it. I can sense a violent and unstoppable storm approaching."
She continued, her voice firm, "This is an old woman's opinion. Don't expect to gain any benefit from it, Kingpin! The chips and capital you possess are utterly worthless. You will die!"
Kingpin's casual demeanor vanished, replaced by a sharp intensity as he looked at Madam Gao, who seemed to possess a strange foresight. "You already know?!"
Mrs. Gao didn't answer. She turned and slowly made her way towards the elevator, her cane tapping rhythmically. But then, as if remembering something, she turned back to Kingpin. "One last piece of advice for you: be more careful! Someone has already arrived here. You will never be able to defeat him."
Kingpin didn't try to stop her. He watched Mrs. Gao disappear into the elevator, then turned and walked to the massive floor-to-ceiling window. His imposing physique was clearly defined beneath his custom-made white suit in the bright moonlight.
Kingpin pulled out a letter, sent by a ninja whose fate was unknown. The underworld emperor read the personally written words: The chosen one, we will grant you the power to transcend the mundane world, and you will prostrate yourself on the ground to accept God's grace.
--[Oracle]
Bullseye, who had been lurking in the shadows, noticed Kingpin's distracted state and warned, "Boss, this is just a ridiculous prank!"
"No, Lester! Perhaps it wasn't a prank." Kingpin gently stroked the letter, a thoughtful expression on his face, as if speaking to himself. "This world does indeed conceal infinite secrets and miracles, and I can now vaguely sense them. They truly exist; they are merely hidden!"
Kingpin shifted his gaze from the letter and looked down at the city lights below. "Whether it's wealth, power, or even my own body, I have reached the limit of what an ordinary person can achieve. It's becoming increasingly difficult for me to advance further, unless..."
Looking at the sporadic fires still burning in Hell's Kitchen, Kingpin slowly put away the letter and whispered, a hint of excitement in his voice, "Finally, there is an organization willing to guide me to an entirely new world. I truly desire to improve!"
