I sat in my office, sipping my scotch as I stared out the window. The Ron Johnson case was getting more complicated by the minute. Natasha had reported back to me, telling me about Ron's incredible abilities and his refusal to cooperate with S.H.I.E.L.D.
I couldn't shake the feeling that Ron was more than just a talented individual. There was something about him that didn't add up, something that I couldn't quite put my finger on.
Just then, my phone buzzed. It was Maria Hill, my second-in-command. "Nick, we've got a new lead on Ron Johnson," she said, her voice tight with excitement.
I raised an eyebrow. "What is it?"
"We've tracked Ron's movements to Switzerland, then Egypt, and now Germany," Hill replied. "He's been traveling under the radar, but we think we can catch up to him."
I nodded, my mind racing with possibilities. "Get a team ready to move out," I growled. "I want to know what Ron is up to, and I want to know now."
Hill hesitated. "Nick, are you sure this is a good idea? We don't know what we're dealing with."
I frowned. "I don't pay you to question my orders, Hill. Just get the team ready."
I hung up the phone, my eyes narrowing as I thought about Ron Johnson. What was he hiding? And what did he want? I was determined to find out.
