Chapter 16 – The General
Cordelia:
— Here, take this potion. It should heal your wounds — she says, pulling a small silver vial from her belt and handing it to Adrian. The liquid inside glows with a soft green hue.
Adrian:
— Thanks, Cordelia — he replies, gulping it down with a grimace at the bitter taste.
— Can you still keep going, or should we try again tomorrow?
Cordelia:
— I'm fine. You're the one who looks like a mess — she says, crossing her arms.
— But if you can still stand, let's move. I'm not wasting a whole day over a scratch.
Adrian:
— I can take it… But if I pass out, you're carrying me — he says with a tired smile.
Cordelia rolls her eyes but smiles back.
Cordelia:
— Let's go, before your courage runs off.
They push forward, passing through a rusty gate and into a stone building, its walls draped in roots and crumbling with age.
Adrian:
— Hey, Cordelia… what do you think this place used to be?
Cordelia:
— Judging by the marks… looks like a training ground. Probably where the soldiers of the old kingdom trained — she says, running her fingers along sword cuts etched into the stone.
— Why?
Adrian:
— Just thinking… if they gathered here like they did in the last place—
BOOOOOM!!!
A deafening roar shakes the ground.
Adrian instinctively pulls Cordelia aside.
Adrian:
— WATCH OUT!
A colossal sword crashes down from above like a meteor, splitting the ground with a thunderous crack that echoes through the ruins.
Cordelia:
— What the hell was that?!
Adrian:
— Exactly what I was thinking… is happening again.
They look up.
From the shadows, a monstrous figure emerges — towering over three meters tall, clad in black armor inscribed with glowing red runes. It wields a blade the size of a door, heavy enough to crush walls in one swing.
Cordelia:
— Looks like we found the boss…
She raises her hand with fierce resolve.
— Divine Possession!
Her body erupts in a blazing golden aura. Her clothes shift into a radiant form with angelic designs, and her eyes glow with sacred light.
With superhuman speed, she launches forward like a divine spear.
— Holy Kick! DIE, MONSTER!
Her foot slams into the creature's chest like a cannon of pure light, creating a shockwave that ripples through the air. But the monster blocks the strike with its massive blade and counters with a brutal punch.
The blow sends Cordelia flying like a ragdoll, crashing into the wall with a thud that cracks stone and wood.
Cordelia:
— Ugh… damn it…
Adrian:
— Cordelia! Are you okay?!
Cordelia:
— Still standing… barely — she groans.
Cordelia:
— I have a plan. But it might kill you.
Adrian:
— Then let's do it.
Cordelia:
— I'm going to transfer half of my divine energy to you.
While I bind him, you finish him. Got it?
— No time to waste…
— NOW! — she shouts, slamming her palm against his chest.
A surge of divine power explodes like a lightning storm. The ground cracks, the air trembles, and Adrian is engulfed in golden light.
Adrian:
— AAAAAARGHH!!
The energy scorches through him like holy fire, igniting every nerve in his body.
Cordelia:
— Adrian, it's all yours now!
She turns to face the monster.
— Hey ugly… try this!
— Chains of the Divine Lamb!
Golden chains burst from the ground, wrapping around the enemy like sacred serpents, locking its limbs and sword.
— Finish him! Go, Adrian!
Adrian stumbles, nearly collapsing.
Adrian:
— Stand up… STAND UP…
— I didn't come this far to die to this trash…
He rises, his eyes blazing gold, body crackling with power that makes the very air shimmer.
Adrian:
— DIE!!! DIVINE PUNCH!!!
BOOOOOOOM!!!
The impact is cataclysmic — like a comet striking the earth. A shockwave of light erupts outward. The ground shatters, the sky flashes white.
And then… silence.
As the dust settles, the monster's body lies in pieces. Adrian collapses, falling backward.
Adrian:
— I… did it… — he mutters, then blacks out.
Cordelia:
— ADRIAN!!
She rushes to him, frantic.
She checks his pulse… and lets out a breath of relief.
Cordelia:
— Still breathing…
— Good night… and thanks for the effort — she whispers, gently brushing his hair aside.
