Chapter 1 - Unbalanced

DARKNESS...

The courage of his heart lifted the curtain of his eyes.

The first thing he saw… was his left severed arm.

Completely apart from his torso.

Sin: "Ahh, great. Now I can't wipe my ass."

Sin was a strong swordsman—without any power of invocation.

As he started to crawl toward his arm, he saw it...

Something unexplainable—something for which words didn't exist in this reality.

And for the first time, Sin couldn't find words.

Just then, something hit the fabric of reality itself.

Like God had punched the heavens.

And he woke up.

Sin: "Ahhhhh noooooo!"

Sweating, gasping, Sin sat upright on the bed—his heartbeat echoing like war drums in his ears.

The dream—or whatever that void was—felt more real than the room around him.

His eyes scanned the dim morning light seeping through the window.

Still intact. Arm still attached.

He let out a heavy breath and wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.

A sudden KNOCK! KNOCK! at the door snapped him from his thoughts.

Someone knocked.

As he opened it, he saw his own image—no—it was his partner, Kuroi.

Kuroi: "Go grab your toy. We gotta move."

Kuroi was an Invoker of Gravity, able to bend the rules of gravity itself and merge it with his sword style.

That's what made him powerful against his foes.

Sin: "Sighh... it's you. Come on in."

Kuroi stepped in and noticed the bed.

Kuroi: "Are you on your periods?"

Sin: "You got a death wish or something?"

Kuroi: "Look at your bed and say it again."

The bed was soaked in pure black blood.

Its sight sent an echo of horror through their spines.

Sin: "But... there's no scar or wound on my body."

Kuroi: "Umm... yeah."

Sin: "I don't even have a girlfriend yet."

While muttering, Sin grabbed his sword and stepped outside with Kuroi.

Thus began the journey...

The village was named Syndriola—an isolated town nestled between cliffs and forests, untouched by modern systems or influence. The sky above always held a subtle golden hue, as if the land itself remembered ancient gods.

What made Syndriola truly special was the Morning Bazaar.

It wasn't just a marketplace—it was a phenomenon.

Every stall had a different scent, color, or story.

It was said the Bazaar had its own rules and could only be found by those meant to be there.

Even invokers and beasts from other lands respected its silence.

You could find anything in the Bazaar: enchanted scrolls, items from dreams, and sometimes weapons that whispered your name.

As they both stepped through the bustling street, the bazaar greeted them with floating fruits, stalls held together by runes, and spices that distorted time.

Kuroi: "Did you dye your hair?"

Sin: "Huh? Why are you acting weird today?"

Kuroi: "I'm acting weird? Bro, you woke up on a bed soaked in blood!"

Sin: "Don't shout that out loud—people will think I murdered someone!"

As they walked, a shadowy figure slowly stepped toward them.

Sin: "I think you already noticed."

Kuroi: "Yeah. You don't have to tell me—just get your ass moving."

Sin: "Let's get out of the village. I don't wanna scare the cute girls."

Kuroi: "Yeah, I don't wanna hurt my future wife either."

They started running.

The shadowy figure chased after them, unaware that both Sin and Kuroi had already sensed his presence.

They reached the edge of the forest outside the village.

Kuroi: "Move when I draw my sword."

Sin: "Ahh, fine..."

The figure, now holding the blade of death, aimed for Kuroi neck.

But Kuroi deflected at the last moment.

Kuroi: "I've always wondered who claims the human soul after death... but I never planned on finding out firsthand."

Meanwhile, Sin rise from the dirt and held the blade around his neck.

Sin: "Guess I just saved your ass. I better hear a thank you from that mouth."

Kuroi: "Now reveal your face. Who are you?"

The figure took off his scarf…

It was a long-lost friend.

Lumière.

Kuroi: "Lumière, you bitch! You almost had my neck!"

Lumière was an Invoker of Light—able to bend and distort light itself and fuse it with her sword technique.

She was stronger than both Sin and Kuroi.

Sin: "Kuroi, you dog! You made me attack my beloved light of my life! What if she got hurt? My future would've gone dark!"

Kuroi: "If I hadn't stopped her, we would've had darkness in our eyes! And she's mine, you better stay away from her."

Both had the same attitude toward any girl they met.

They'd rather kill each other for a date.

Lumière: "You both mother suckers—"

SMACK! SMACK!

Lumière: "I hope you've learned your lesson."

Sin: "Please hit me more..."

Kuroi: "Nooo, hit me! Not him!"

Lumière: "Geez... these two."

As the three stood there, still bickering, something subtle shifted beneath their feet.

The wind stilled.

Birds vanished.

The ground… began to hum.

Without warning, a perfect circle of earth around them started cracking, as if etched by an invisible blade.

It tore itself free from the land, lifting upward—slowly at first, then faster, and faster.

Sin: "Uhh... is the ground supposed to fly?!"

Kuroi: "Nope. This isn't gravity... this is something else."

Lumière: "Brace yourselves!"

The floating circle of land—like a platform—shot toward the sky, slicing through clouds like a blade through silk.

And just like that...

The earth beneath their feet became sky.

And the sky above them?

Was no longer the limit..
