Chapter 9:
Cultivation emphasizes relaxation in moderation, particularly in the early stages where physical strength is key. In these early stages, the body is still too weak, and excessive cultivation could harm its foundation, hindering future growth.
Although Asakawa Naoki was eager to learn Samadhi True Fire, he eventually washed up and fell asleep after digesting his food.
The next morning, Asakawa Naoki went to the commercial street, drank four bowls of ramen under the ramen shop owner's watchful eyes, and arrived at the classroom just before the bell rang.
As he entered the classroom, the first-year students watched him with a mix of fear and curiosity, many of them whispering to each other. They hadn't expected Asakawa Naoki, who was usually shy and gentle, to have participated in the fight against Yamagami Taro's group with the transfer student, Uzumaki Kushina.
Asakawa Naoki paid them no mind. He knew they'd likely forget the incident in no time.
"You're almost late," Kushina said from the back of the classroom.
Although Kushina had earned a reputation as a troublemaker because of the fight, she was actually a well-behaved student. She had arrived early.
Kushina couldn't help but notice that Asakawa Naoki seemed different today. He appeared slightly taller, and his skin had become smoother and stronger.
"It took a little longer to eat breakfast," Asakawa Naoki replied as he took a seat next to her.
Not long after, the head teacher, Masaki Yuto, entered the room. Upon seeing Asakawa Naoki had made it on time, he felt a bit relieved.
"Today, we're going over the Three Body Technique."
As soon as Masaki Yuto spoke, most of the class perked up. The students who had previously seemed distracted now focused intently on the teacher.
Masaki Yuto smiled inwardly. The students had come to ninja school with the goal of becoming ninjas, but for the first years, much of the curriculum consisted of cultural courses, which bored them. The chance to learn new ninjutsu naturally excited them.
"The Three Body Technique is one of the most fundamental ninjutsu for any ninja. It's a basic skill for every ninja," Masaki Yuto explained.
"Other ninjutsu may be difficult to learn, but the Three Body Technique is among the easiest," he continued. "And it's also one of the graduation requirements. If you can't use it proficiently, you won't graduate!"
This caused a stir in the class. The graduation requirement made the technique even more important, and the students were suddenly alert.
"You'll be learning the basic forms of the Three Body Technique: the Clone Technique, the Transformation Technique, and the Substitute Technique."
Masaki Yuto then began to write the key points of the Three Body Technique on the blackboard for the class.
Though Asakawa Naoki couldn't actually learn ninjutsu, he planned to take notes and later use the fairy scroll to convert them into a form he could learn.
"First, we have the Clone Technique. The version we're learning now creates a phantom clone, one without a physical body," Masaki Yuto explained.
"Don't underestimate the clone technique you're learning now. It forms the foundation for more advanced physical clones in the future."
He proceeded to explain the seals and chakra movements required for the technique.
"Next, the Transformation Technique. This technique lets you temporarily change the form of an object by controlling your chakra. The easiest transformation is your own body," Masaki Yuto continued.
"Don't worry about not being able to change back—it's temporary. Once the chakra runs out, the transformation will automatically end, or you can release it yourself."
He wrote down the relevant seals and chakra operation methods.
"Finally, we have the Substitute Technique. This technique relies on illusion—when your opponent isn't looking, you swap places with another object, causing them to perceive an illusion," Masaki Yuto finished, explaining the seals and chakra method for the technique.
The class was captivated as Masaki Yuto spent the rest of the period detailing these techniques. The blackboard became covered with notes, and the students were highly attentive.
"Asakawa is taking notes very seriously," Masaki Yuto observed, noting how Asakawa Naoki diligently recorded the details in his notebook while the rest of the class stared at the blackboard.
"Although Asakawa's behavior can be a bit extreme, it's probably a result of his parents' sudden passing," Masaki Yuto thought to himself. He believed that Naoki was still a good student at heart.
"The Three Body Technique isn't dangerous, but you can practice it slowly," Masaki Yuto added. "I recommend you focus on the key points I've written to avoid forgetting them later."
The teacher's reminder prompted most students to take out their notebooks and begin writing. A few, however, stood still, ready to attempt the Three Body Technique with their chakra.
Suddenly, with a puff of white smoke, several students successfully performed the Clone Technique. The clones weren't perfect, but it was clear the technique had been successfully executed.
"The Clone Technique worked! Uchiha Kanmon!"
"And Hinata Goji!"
"Even Nara succeeded!"
"Even Sarutobi!"
"I can't believe Namikaze succeeded the first time!"
Whispers of amazement filled the room. As the students who succeeded in the Clone Technique proudly looked around, those who hadn't yet succeeded couldn't help but feel the gap between themselves and the faster learners.
"Is this the difference between geniuses and regular students?" many thought, including Kushina.
Looking at the envy and determination in Kushina's eyes, Asakawa Naoki realized once more just how strong she was. He could sense that she, too, was silently determined to succeed in the Three Body Technique and not fall behind.
"Don't stress too much," Asakawa Naoki advised. "They're from prestigious ninja clans. They've likely been practicing the Three Body Technique before school, which is why they're able to do it so quickly."
Kushina's expression shifted to one of understanding.
"So that's why. They must've learned it in advance," she said, grasping the situation.
"Exactly. We just need to focus on learning at our own pace," Asakawa Naoki replied.
In reality, he had missed an important detail—while civilian ninjas like Minato Namikaze might learn it right away, some students would struggle with it until graduation. This was the gap between natural talent and hard work.
"However, having such a talented opponent makes things more interesting," Asakawa Naoki mused. He looked forward to returning home and discovering how the Three Body Technique might evolve into something even more powerful with the help of his scroll.
