Chapter 10: Leaving for Hogwarts
Holiday time passed fast.
King's Cross Station.
Dylan was whisked away by his parents.
"Take care, and when you get there." Maeve reminded.
"Did you pack everything?" Hubert enquired.
"Don't worry, I have all my personal things, and all the rest has gone on to the school. I'll be fine." Dylan assured.
And then he told his parents, "You don't need to work so hard overtime. I'll make heaps of money when I turn out to be a wizard, so don't get too tired."
"Good lad, it's not your time yet to worry about us." Maeve smoothed Dylan's hair.
"All right, don't be late, off you go." Hubert spoke.
Dylan nodded ever so little: "I'll write to you from school. Remember to look after my owl."
"Mommy will."
Once he said goodbye to his parents, Dylan walked into the station with only a traveling bag.
It was not the first time. His parents occasionally took him out for excursions while they were on holiday.
So he quickly found the third pillar between Platform 9 and Platform 10.
As he came close to it, he realized that the Muggles around him did not even notice it.
Even if they looked, they would immediately look away as if they had not seen anything.
Dylan had seen with his own eyes a young wizard charge headlong into the pillar, but the onlookers did not even flinch.
He could not help but breathe in sharply.
Headlong charging into the pillar still required some guts.
"Go!"
Dylan closed his eyes and charged headfirst into the pillar.
And in an instant, he felt as if he had entered a vacuum.
Then, after moving a little further ahead, the feeling of vacuum vanished, and his eyes twinkled suddenly.
"Rumble."
A red-hued train pulled into the platform.
Steam arose.
Dylan blinked, and his mind immediately thought of the almost soundless high-speed rail and even maglev trains.
"Despite the fact that technology is not up to the mark, the wizards didn't apply some magic on the train to accelerate it, huh?"
After walking in, Dylan found there were several more kids and parents there.
He didn't have a family.
Thus, he did not need to wait for anything. When the train came to a stop, he moved toward the nearest door.
The carriages in this train were to be accessed without barriers, and the tickets bought were not limited to any specific seats.
So after getting onto the train, he saw a compartment nearby and got into it.
Taking off his backpack and putting it aside, Dylan sat down at the left side.
Gazing at the scenery outside the window, Dylan took out a book from his inventory.
Most of his equipment were in stock, which saved him some shipping.
After he had spent a period of time studying spells, Dylan found that just scratching the surface was far from sufficient to learn magic.
You had to know it inside and out and fully comprehend the significance of a spell.
Only then could a spell reach its full potential.
He opened the book in his hand.
This was a book he had not completed reading before he departed.
It was also a book Professor McGonagall had suggested to him in the bookstore—"A Concise Guide to Transfiguration Spells."
Flipping open the bookmark page, Dylan read on.
This book discussed the rules of Transfiguration Spells at length, as well as the things to keep in mind when applying Transfiguration Spells in different scenarios.
But some of it consisted of advanced Transfiguration Spells.
Dylan hadn't taken the course yet, and just reading the book was not able to understand the key points of advanced Transfiguration Spells.
But the book also had very detailed records and descriptions of even amateur Transfiguration Spells.
It went from primary to advanced, and even provided instructions on how to use Transfiguration Spells in various practical battles.
It was definitely a great book.
If he could fully understand this book, his Transfiguration could be of high quality.
"I didn't know that using Transfiguration Spells on sneak attacks would be so effective."
Dylan turned to the applied battle explanation section of Transfiguration Spells.
It explained many situations in which Transfiguration Spells need to be used under certain conditions.
Dylan remembered the wand beautification aspect offered by his system.
For a brief moment, many dirty tricks crossed his mind.
They were even dirtier than some of the sneak attack methods recorded in the book.
"I always have the feeling that the practical battle explanations in this book are graphic, but they are missing something, or better, they do not explain the sneak attack methods well enough in some practical battles that require sneak attacks."
After mastering the six full-level spells, he could always make connections from other things even when learning other spells.
Not to mention that his thoughts were not limited to this century at all. It was the superposition of two lives that introduced a new dimension.
It made him remember all sorts of ways of using Transfiguration Spells so as to cheat people.
"Whoosh"
The compartment door was flung open.
Two redheads stuck their heads in.
"Hey~ hello, are you alone here?" asked one redhead.
"Do you mind if we sit here?" added the other redhead.
"I am sitting here myself. Come inside." Dylan gave the two of them a look.
Two names occurred to him in that single moment.
As soon as the two redheads calmed down, they couldn't help but introduce themselves to Dylan.
"Thank you. My name is Fred."
"No, I'm Fred and he's called George."
"Who said this? George, I'm called Fred!"
The two of them bickered for a while.
When they saw Dylan just standing there in silence, they turned around.
"What's your name?"
"Dylan."
He replied bluntly.
Since they knew their names, he realized that they must be the Weasley twins.
Since they were here, didn't that mean.
"Are you seniors at the school?"
"Oh, certainly!"
"Are you a freshman? Then you'll be in the same year as our brother."
"But it doesn't look like you'll be in the same house."
"Yeah, he's reading a book. Ron would never read a book."
Ron?
So, he and Harry Potter were in the same year, then?
Even though he'd read Harry Potter, he didn't remember the timeline exactly, just generally what was happening and stuff.
Like, one of these twins had seemingly died in the war later on.
But he couldn't remember who.
"You look like you'll be a Ravenclaw student."
"I think so too!"
"It's hard to understand why someone would read a book during the trip."
"It seems to be a professional book except for the textbooks."
"Good heavens, I have a hunch about which house the Sorting Hat will place this young wizard in!"
"I said it just now!"
"I agreed too."
