Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

Sam stood in his office, phone pressed to his ear as he listening to the person on the other end.

"I thought we had an agreement," the voice said. "By the time you get her, you'll send her down to me, and I'll forward the remaining money I owe you. We had an agreement – she was supposed to come straight to my domain."

Sam's expression darkened as he listened.

"I wouldn't take this from you, Sam," the voice continued. "Do what you're supposed to do. I'm giving you less than forty-eight hours to send her down."

Sam's grip on the phone tightened.

"I will do no such thing," he replied, his voice firm. "Plans have changed. You think you can outsmart me? I'm way smarter than you are. I'm sorry, but we have to reschedule. She is not coming down to you, until every payment is made".

The voice on the other end grew agitated.

"How do you expect me to just send a whole forty thousand dollars without seeing her first!!!!!!...?"

Sam cuts the call, his anger boiling over. He strode to his cabinet of drinks, poured himself a glass, and downed it in one gulp. He repeated the process, his movements swift and agitated.

With a sudden burst of energy, he storms out of the building, got into his sports car, and sped out of the compound.

Sarah, seated at the veranda of her room, watched him leave, a look of concern on her face. She wondered what had triggered his sudden departure

Shorty after,

The car returns, but this time with lady, a lady Sarah curiously watches from her open veranda,

The car is parked, and Sam emerges with the mysterious lady. He takes her hand, and they walk towards the building. As they approach, Sam looks up and catches Sarah's eye.

For a brief moment, they lock gazes. Sarah feels a sudden pang in her chest, Sam quickly looks away, breaking the connection and continues into the building with the lady.

Confused, Sarah quickly rushes into her room, unsure why she's reacting this way. She's never thought of Sam in a romantic way; he's always been cold, harsh and demanding towards her.

With her back against the wall, Sarah's emotions swirl. She tries to shake off the feeling, but it lingers. She sits on her bed, wondering why she's here and what's her purpose is for being here.

She thinks about her past, her safety, and her life. Questions flood her mind: Why am I here? Am I really safe here as Ahmad said? Where's Ahmad? Does he still have my phone?

She needs to talk to someone, to share her feelings and get clarity.

****************

Sarah heads to the kitchen, she needed someone to talk to,

The kitchen is huge with high ceilings and lots of space. There are different types of meat on counters, and cooks are busy preparing dinner. The kitchen is filled with the smell of food and the sound of sizzling.

Ma'Cherry, walks in and smiles at her. "Oh Sarah, how are you? Do you want to join us?"

She asks then quickly chips in

"eventhough joining us wouldn't be advisable since Sam wouldn't like seeing you in here but since he has a visitor I don't think he would be coming out any time soon". She smiles again

Sarah is still curious about the mysterious lady with Sam, so she asks Ma'Cherry, "Who is she?"

Ma'Cherry's expression changes, and she says calmly, "I don't know who she is. It's best you mind your business. Sam doesn't like people poking into his business. If word gets out that you're trying to find out who she is, it won't end well for you."

Sarah feels a chill and says okay. She sits down on a low chair in the corner of the kitchen, watching the cooks prepare dinner. Her mind starts to wonder what's going on behind Sam's closed door.

Dinner has been served but Sam is no where to be seen, Sarah had already began digging into her meal when Sam quietly walked in with the mysterious lady.

They sit across from Sarah, shortly after,

Sam clears his throat to get everyone's attention.

"I'd like to introduce Grace to you all," he says. "She'll be staying with us for a week. "please address her as Miss Grace,

he continues

"and mind you, i wouldn't be tolerating any form of disrespect etched her way from any of you." He says and settles his gaze on Sarah with a stern look..

Sarah knew Sam's words were sternly directed at her, so she didn't even dare to throw a glance his way,

After the introduction, Sam returns to his meal, and everyone else follows suit.

Miss Grace smiles to herself, seemingly pleased with the introduction.

After dinner, Sarah quickly exits the dining hall, not wanting to spend more time with Sam and his guest, she feels Sam's gaze follow her as she exits the hall but chose to ignore it.

******

She's nothing but a mere mistress, Sarah says to herself as she struggles to tye the strap of her night gown to the back of her dress..

"I don't see no ring on her finger" she continues..

"Jealous? I'm not jealous, he might be cute and all but he's a monster" she says to herself.

"There's nothing to be jealous about she adds as she steps out of her room into the hallway.

It's 12pm in the night and she still felt hungry so she quickly heads into the kitchen to sought out something to eat..

"I think I should take cereals, she says to herself as she begins to sort out the dish needed.

"What are you doing up by this time" a deep voice from behind boomed

Sarah jolts and quickly turns around only to find "The boss" standing at the doorway watching her ..

The air seemed to vibrate with tension as he took a step towards her, his movement fluid and deliberate, he quickly takes a peep to see what she has been up to and then reverts his gaze back to her.

"I..I am sorry, I felt hun..hungry, I just need something to eat" she tried to play it cool but she ends up stuttering

"I didn't ask you to leave the dining hall without having dessert" he smoothly said as he placed both hands into his pockets.

"I'm sorry, I will just head back to bed" she replies with a bowed head and begins to walk away

Just as she was about to step out of his face, Sam pulls her back towards him, now trapped between him and the kitchen counter, The soft glow of the kitchen lights illuminated her features, and her long black hair cascaded down her cleavage like a waterfall

Sam's eyes narrowed, his gaze piercing. "Why did you leave the dining hall?"

Sarah stumbled on her words then ended up keeping mute.

Sam's eyes seemed to bore into her soul, searching for something. Then, in a sudden movement, he reached out and grasped her chin, his fingers warm against her skin. "You're a very stubborn young lady," he whispered, his breath caressing her face.

Sarah knew he was tipsy because she could smell traces of alcohol lingering in his breath her heart skipped a beat as Sam's lips brushed against hers, sending shivers down her spine. The world seemed to spin around her, leaving her breathless and wanting more.

"Soft" he mummured as he began stroking her lower lip with his thumb..

His gaze rested on hers, she couldn't help but look away, Sarah felt a rush of emotion run through her spine,

She was torn between her desire to pull away and her curiosity about what was happening.

With a swift move, Sam's lips claimed hers, his kiss was gentle, yet possessive, it didn't feel like how Ahmad's kiss felt , this kiss woke every cell In her body leaving her inner cotton soaked.

The air was thick with tension as Sam continued to kiss her, his lips exploring hers with a sense of curiosity. Sarah's mind was a jumble of thoughts, but her body seemed to respond instinctively, her lips parting slightly to allow Sam's tongue to explore her mouth.

The kiss deepened, and Sarah felt herself getting lost in the moment. She was no longer thinking about the kitchen or the fact that she was supposed to be getting something to eat. All she could think about was the sensation of Sam's lips on hers and the way her body was responding to his touch.

As the kiss continued, Sarah felt a sense of surrender wash over her. She was no longer in control, and she wasn't sure if she wanted to be. Sam's kiss was like a force of nature, sweeping her up and carrying her away.

Finally, Sam pulled back, his eyes darkened eyes stayed locked on hers, he stayed mute for a while before he finally blurted out, his voice low and husky

"You're a very beautiful woman, Sarah," "I'm not sure what to do with you." With this said he quickly turns and begins to walk away.

Sarah felt a flush rise to her cheeks as she tried to process what had just happened. She wasn't sure what to say or do, so she just stood there, frozen in place, as Sam walked away.
