Chapter 6 - A rabid animal

ODETTE'S POV:

I felt the energy in the air shift, a dark and dangerous aura surrounding me, it felt cold and full of hate. The heavy weight of the malice all around was suffocating. It was so stifling, it was getting hard to breathe.

"Well, well, well, Princess, we finally meet." I heard a man say from the shadows.

Loud blasts went off in the background and lights covered the sky from a bright firework display, before the sound of screams and howls overshadowed the sounds of the fireworks. I could hear the fighting that was happening outside, and I started forgetting about my own predicament for a moment, fearing for my family and fiancé.

My heartbeat was erratic, my mind started racing. I looked around frantically. An unsettling and eerie feeling casted down upon me. I shuddered, the hairs on my neck stood up.

What did he mean, 'finally'? I was caught by complete surprise hearing a man's voice.

"What's going on? Who are you?" I snapped at him.

"Your worst fucking nightmare, stick her boys." Was the last thing I heard before I felt a sharp prick in my shoulder and darkness filled my vision.

When I finally awoke, I was in a dark cellar. Cold and alone. The sound of water dripping in a corner reverberated in the cell. Looking around, it took time for my eyes to adjust to the dimly lit room.

I had a wooden table and a rickety wooden chair. Beneath me laid a mat, if you could even call it that, and a blanket.

"Hello?" I called aloud. but the only response I received was the echo of my own voice.

Fear and panic kicked my adrenaline in. I checked over my body for wounds or injuries of any kind, but I found nothing. That was until I checked her neck, what she found was a metal collar.

"What the fuck is this?" I asked herself tugging at the metal.

Who would dare put her in a collar? Was this some sick joke? Fury and rage flooded me. I jerked and yanked but nothing

"Hello, anyone? Who the fuck locked me up like a dog?" I yelled louder this time, "This isn't a joke."

"Hello???" She repeated over and over wanting someone, anyone really, to answer her pleas.

Hearing no response still, I got up from her mat on the ground dusting off my dress. Checking the lock, I tried to telekinetically unlock it, but it didn't seem to move.

Instead, I felt a harsh zap sink into my skin. I winced from the unsuspected pain.

"Ssttt Ow! What the hell?"

The sound of footsteps repeated down the hall, getting louder as they approached. I listened in closely; the strides were long and heavy.

"I see you find the collar, quite shocking, I suppose?" said the voice that accompanied the footsteps.

His voice was deep, firm and his tone spite full, it was the same familiar voice as earlier, the one that kidnapped me.

I snorted "Yeah you could say that." I started raising my voice. I had questions and I needed answers. "Who the hell are you? Why am I here? Where am I? The hell is going on?"

The voice choked from his own laughter. "Oh, my sweet Princess, all in good time."

"I'll show you sweet, open up this cell, let me give you something to taste." I threatened with a low growl.

"Oouu, you're so scary. Princess, if you aren't ready to play with the wolves, don't give such intriguing suggestions. You might me give me some very bad ideas." He sounded smooth with his words, like an expert manipulator.

I froze, reality striking me hard, I realized how much at a disadvantage I was in. I was trapped. Powerless. Alone. And worst of all, magicless.

"You wouldn't dare." I hissed.

Stepping closer, he snapped his fingers and fire appeared at the tip, lighting the dark cell just enough for me to see his face.

And in that single moment my whole life changed.

The smell of pine flooded my nose.

And then I saw him.

My captor was the most beautiful man I've ever seen. My heart practically ran away chasing after him. His piercing golden eyes shown like the sun. His hair was so black it blended in with the darkness that settled behind him. His jaw was strong and his chin sharp. He was breath taking. Literally, I caught myself unable to exhale.

Which only pissed me off. My heart and mind betraying me like this. What the hell was I even thinking?

He had the same aura that surrounded him, it felt chilling and oppressive. Like it would suffocate any light that dared appear in its presence. At the start of his neck, tattoos formed running up and down the side. A design I couldn't quite make out in this light.

"Oh Princess, I think you'll soon find out I dare to do a lot of things." He snickered with delight.

"Do you know who I am, what my family, mostly my father is capable of?" I snapped back. My father was a terrifying man capable of ripping a wolf in two, I've heard so many of my father's war stories.

The man moved quicker than I could blink, it took only that one moment for him to close the distance between us, reach through the cells bars and grab me by the throat.

"I know better than anyone the kind of bloodsucking monster your father is. Fuck, your whole entire family!" He viciously snarled at me.

I watched flashes of memory darken his gaze, narrowing his vision to see only me.

I clawed and scratched at his hands, digging my sharp painted nails into his flesh, this only made him squeeze my neck tighter.

Just before I blacked out, he dropped her.

Grabbing my throat and coughing, "You're… nothing but a… mongrel, a rabid… animal. One… that… should be… put down."

Then I did the unthinkable and spit at him.

"You'll regret that." His growl low and angry.

"No, I don't think I'll ever regret that." I continued to choke and massage my bruised and burning throat.

I sat on the hard cold ground peering up at him. My eyes narrowed. For a moment I watched as he smiled; it was a creepy and unsettling smile. Showing a single fang. That smile wasn't meant for anything good.

For a second my fear spiked, but I would be damned if I let my fear show. I maintained a fearless mask, but I wasn't quite sure if my captor had noticed me waver, I was really hoping he didn't.

His smile dropped and he turned and walked away from my cell. Leaving the room colder and damper than when he first appeared. I felt a body shiver.

I missed my mom, I missed my dad, I missed Delilah, and most of all I missed Kalvin.

When would they come save me? How long have I been here all ready? My mind was swarming with unanswered question.

Coward.
