Chapter 5 - Take Her

AMBROSE POV:

Everything was ready, everyone was in their places, all of the pieces strategically placed, my revenge was mere hours away.

It was just waiting. Waiting. My wolf, Onyx, was pacing in his mind, the thirst for revenge was insatiable.

If you don't chill with the pacing, you might fuck this all up for both of us.

I'm just getting agitated; waiting is killing me.

I know, believe me. But you have to stop, you're messing up my thinking.

Fine.

After silencing my wolf, I was able to focus on the tasks at hand.

All I had to do was wait for Raven to do her part and bring her over to the trap, then I'd catch his prey. The predator in me purred. She would be the most interesting prey I've ever had.

Leaning against a car, parked behind the fenced in trash area, I listened closely as the graduation ceremony began.

The speeches from teachers and students were utterly boring, and time seemed to drag on forever, before finally hearing her voice.

"Ladies and Gents and all those in between, thank you for coming today. I know it's early in the day for all this boring banter, but hey you're here, so let's make the most of it. I've practiced a sword dance for you all this morning, as the champion fighter in the school, I wanted to show you why I'm worthy of the title." Odette's voice echoed in the open stadium.

The stadium was large, like a baseball field, with high walls that were lined with seats.

I could hear their applause reverberate. I pulled out my phone and pulled up the surveillance and watched as she danced with her sword. She kept the sword afloat effortlessly as it moved in sync with her, they looked like a matched pair, like the sword was an extension of her.

I couldn't help it, I was completely emersed in the screen, seemingly lost in her fluid movements around the stage, that's when I realized she wasn't touching the ground, she was doing this with her ability. I was entirely captivated by her strength and competency with her ability.

Watching her was making my heart race, rattling in my ribs. I couldn't help clutching my chest, trying to calm my erratic heart.

It must be the adrenaline; I need to calm myself. I can't afford to be clumsy and make a mistake. We only had one shot at this.

Ambrose…

Onyx not now, don't make me put a leash on you. I tried to control my wolf, his relentless pursue for revenge was exhausting sometimes, Onyx was rash and ran entirely on instinct.

After her dance was over, I heard her thank the crowd for their roaring applause and unyielding support.

I couldn't help but roll his eyes at how rehearsed her gratitude sounded.

She's a princess, no matter how skilled she is, she's still a spoiled brat.

She left from my main camera view sight switching views I find her returning to her seat with the rest of the graduates.

A look of unamusement and boredom was worn on her face.

At the end of the ceremony all of the students stood and threw their caps into the air.

I watched the camera intensely as Raven played her part. Walking up to Odette, her face dropped rapidly into a scowl. Crossing her arms, he could see Raven was doing exactly as she supposed too, storming off Odette followed behind her.

This was it. My heart was hammering into my ears as she grew near to the trap.

"Places everyone, the shows about to start." I said through the mind link.

"Understood boss we're in position."

"Good, now go, light'em up!" I gave the go ahead.

Finally, I'm getting restless.

You think I haven't noticed Onyx; you're driving my nervous up the fucking wall here. It's distracting.

A Flash ripped through the sky followed by an extremely loud bang. Fireworks had erupted and the crowd momentarily distracted. I snuck through the field and around the back near the dumpster.

I could hear Raven and Odette speaking.

"I just want to say sorry I was a total bitch this year. And every other year before." I could practically taste how bad the words were coming out of Raven's mouth. Just hearing them made my blood boil.

Raven's parents were also killed as a casualty of the attack on the CrystalBay Pack. I knew how hard it was to say those words.

"Is that why you pulled me away? To tell me your sorry. You think I care, if you care? You can take your sorry and shove it up your ass, it means nothing me with the shit you've done over the last four years here." Odette snapped at Raven.

"Keep it cool Raven, don't fuck this up. I said through the mind link.

"I can't deal with her snippy holier than thou ass. I want to kill her."  Raven answered

"I don't care, you'd lose if you challenged her, don't be stupid and ruin a plan that's almost as old as you." Ambrose bit back.

"I'm not saying I care; I did this for me not for you." Raven sneered.

"For you? You did this for yourself, what do you get out of this?" Odette's words were sharp.

"This." Raven said shoving Odette backwards, hitting the fence hard behind her and slid to the ground.

"What the fuck Raven?" Odette was pissed now, pushing herself off the ground she stormed Ravens way, only to slam face first into an invisible wall. She stumbled backwards, dazed and confused, she shakes her head, trying to wrap her mind around what just happened.

"Like a rat in a trap." Raven laughed manically.

"This isn't a joke, let me go before I bust out of here and kick your ass." Odette snapped.

"Not in your dreams." Raven couldn't stop smiling, her part was done, and she did it flawlessly. She was sure she'd catch my eye for this assist. She was so confident, which only made me annoyed, I would never be with anyone but my mate. Damn the rule about needing a Luna. It didn't do my father any good, and I'd been leading the packs since I was 13. I didn't need a Luna then and I don't need one now.

I smiled appearing from the shadows, tossing a crystal in the air with one hand and catching it, repeating over and over.

"Well, well, well, Princess, we finally meet." I said with words that tasted of venom.
