Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3

NALAIA'S POV

"Honestly, Brina told me you hadn't had breakfast yet, that's why I prepared it for you, I know you have a lot to clean," he replied, and I looked around at the entire library

"I don't know why he only assigned me to clean this room out of the many maids here, don't I have the right to have someone help me?" I questioned, taking a slice of the bread I was holding.

"There is." Xas and I both instantly bowed to the person who entered the room. "He," he answered, pointing to Xas. "You two clean up and I don't want to see any dirt, do you understand?" he said, and we quickly responded.

I grumbled and sipped juice after he left. "Why did he come back here?" I inquired of Xas, as he placed the food that he had brought on the table.

"The news is that he is looking for someone. You know about their tradition in wolves tribes? They choose their mate, and his mate is missing, so he came back here to look for her," he explained.

"Mate? Do they have something like that?" I ask.

"Yes, they have, and if he didn't see her before this years end, it's his loss, and he needs to find someone again to be his mate," he said while mopping.

I had no idea they had that kind of tradition. I merely shrugged and went on doing my job. I don't know how long Xas and I cleaned; all I know is that my body feels exhausted. We merely relaxed for a while before leaving the library room, and I was shocked when the prince appeared, and Xas and I promptly bowed. His signal that one maid to come inside and inspect the area to ensure that we had cleaned it properly. The woman emerged and bowed to him.

"They did well, Prince Zixs," she said.

I smiled and turned to face Xas. "Open the door," he instructed solemnly.

At this point, I was worried, but I made a way to ensure that neither Xas nor I were reprimanded and that if someone was to be punished, it would be me rather than Xas. The prince emerged with a solemn expression, then turned to face me, but I remained bowed.

"You did a good job. Even though you're ugly, you're good at cleaning. You can rest," he said, and I was a little offended by what he said.

When we left, I immediately ran to the kitchen, then I lost my temper and screamed. "He's a dumbass fucking wolf! He's fucking just handsome and he's a prince, but his fucking behavior is uglyr than my fucking face! He's a member of evil!" I said, angrily.

"Chill, Nalaia," Xas said to me, making me calm down.

"How do I fucking do that? I know that I am ugly, but he didn't need to repeat it again and again! I will kill that man!"

The prince's command to me didn't had not even been completed after a few days. I think he's punishing me because, in addition to the fact that I can't be here, I have to remain because I want to prove myself to him. I sat on the grass, taking a deep breath and gazing up at the wonderful sky. I no longer feel free, and I am burdened by the weight of my prior life's wrongdoing as if I were being punished by God. I lifted my hand and said a magic word, and the water ball emerged in front of me. I smiled after playing it.

I could see my reflection in the water and suddenly it poured on my face when I saw the sudden change in my appearance, causing me to sit down and catch my breath. I held my chest, looked around, took out a mirror and looked at myself. But nothing has changed in my face, and my ugly appearance is still there.

"What is happening to me?" I wondered to myself.

I remembered what happened in the past when I cleaned the prince's room and remembered the woman who was the reason I was scolded. "Nalaia!" I turned to someone who called my name. "What are you doing there?" she asked.

"Ahhh... resting?" I answered her.

"Prince Zixs called you a while ago, and you have to go to him now," Brina said, and I quickly ran to where the prince was.

When I got to where he was, I hardly knew what to do first, and I saw how he frowned at me. "Where did you come from? I've been calling you for a while, and you didn't even hear me? Did I tell you to rest?" he said angrily, then I swallowed my saliva, and looked at him.

"Don't you know that I'm also tired? You don't even know how to feel sorry for your maids! That's why many people don't stay with you for long, and I won't tell you why," I said, annoyed.

His eyes widened, and the soldiers immediately surrounded me and pointed their swords at me. I raised my hand. "Who are you to say that to the Prince?"

"S-Sorry! I haven't been able to rest properly since this morning. I still haven't eaten; that's why I'm complaining. How can I get strong again if you just order me around, right?" I reasoned, and I looked at Zixs.

I saw that he was silent at what I said, then he signaled his soldiers, and they removed their swords that were pointed at me. "Alright, I'll give you enough time to eat and enough rest today. But tomorrow you have to catch Malina in the Jadira river, do you understand?" he said, and I smiled.

"Yes! I promise, I'll hunt tomorrow before dawn!" I said, then smiled sweetly at him.

He didn't even show me any expression, then he signaled and let me go. I screamed while running and left the palace, and returned to where I was stationed earlier. I saw Brina's eyes widen, and she frowned at me, probably wondering what happened. I tell her what happened and the conversation I had with the prince, and she almost couldn't believe what I did to the Prince because I was the only one who could say those words to the prince that I didn't expect either.

The next day, I woke up early. Even before the sun rose, I went to the Jadira River to hunt Malina. While I was walking, I heard a rustling that made me stop, then look around me. Someone was following me, and I knew he was just behind me earlier. I walked again and then prepared my weapon in case an enemy charged. I reached the river, and I felt whoever had followed me was getting closer and closer. I can't release the powers I had because it's too delegated.

I immediately looked behind me when I felt him. But I immediately stopped whatever I was going to do when I saw his face. "Xas!" I snorted.

"That blade is too sharp, Nalaia. You might stab me," he said, raising both of his hands.

I immediately lowered my knife and then looked at him again. "Why did you follow me?" I wondered.

"Brina told me," he answered.

"I can handle myself," I answered.

"There's nothing wrong if you are with your friend, Nalaia," he answered, and I facepalmed.

"I didn't say that being with someone is bad... but I don't want to be with someone anymore," I said, and he frowned at me.

He would have asked more, but I ignored him and prepared for what I had to do. While I was preparing it, I was thinking about how to divert Xas' attention while he was with me. He couldn't notice that I was doing magic while catching Malina. I began hunting. I went to the middle of the river and looked at the Malinas. As I followed it with my gaze, I smiled. I first looked at Xas, who was busy catching.

This is my chance.

I put my hand just above the water. When I did that, I cast a spell to make the Malinas come to me voluntarily. When I did that, I smiled, as I almost got a lot. I got out of the water and then lowered the bucket I was holding. I called Xas and motioned for him to come to me.

"We're going back to the palace," I said, then showed him what I caught.

"Whoah?" he said in disbelief. "It's a lot," he added.

I didn't answer him anymore, and we returned to the palace. When we got back, I immediately brought it to the kitchen, and Brina was getting ready for the prince's meal. That's why I took a shower before helping them. When I got back, they were about to prepare the food on the table, and at that time, I was the one who took care of preparing the food.

I saw Prince Zixs, who was only dressed in robes. I see her beautiful body, and my forehead is wrinkled because of the memory; I don't know where it came from. When he saw what was served on the table, he stopped for a moment, then looked at me.

"As promised, Prince Zixs," I said before bowing.

I saw how Xas smiled at me, so I smiled back. "It is good, and you keep your word," he said, sitting in front of the dining table.

After he finished eating, he returned to his room, and then he made me follow. I did not complain and looked at Brina and Xas, who were just frowning at me. But I gave them a signal that I was fine. When I got to the Prince's room, I stopped. I bowed deeply and avoided looking at him, no matter what happened.

"Since you kept your promise, you won't work today…" he said, causing me to look up.

"W-What?"

"You have nothing else to do but rest, and tomorrow you have to come with me to Lapiro," he said, which confused me even more.

Even so, I said nothing and simply followed what he said. I left and went back to the maid's quarters, and Brina asked me what the prince said. When I said what Prince Zixs said, she couldn't believe it. She said that I was the only one who was given such a break and was able to talk to him properly. But I don't care because my life also depends on it. Anyway, I went to the garden, where there were beautiful plants and flowers. I also get bored if I have nothing to do all day. As I looked at the plants and flowers, I couldn't help but smile. They give me comfort whenever I rest.

"He seems nice," I said to myself. "He just can't show his kindness because others will be abusive," I added.

I looked up to see where the prince's room was, and then I sighed. "Nalaia." I turned to face the person who had called me and noticed Xas waving and carrying food. "I know that I would only see you here," he said, and I frowned.

"Are you looking for me?" I asked, and he nodded.

"You haven't eaten, have you?" he said, and then I nodded. "This is your food," he said before handing it to me.

"I forgot about mealtime because I lost my appetite," I explained, and he winced.
