Chapter 25: The Weight of Chains
Lia stood in the dimly lit room, the weight of her chains heavy on her wrists and ankles. She had been captured by Alessandro's men, taken from the streets and brought to this place.
As she looked around, Lia saw that she was in a luxurious room, filled with expensive furniture and artwork. But she didn't care about the decorations, she cared about getting out.
Alessandro's voice cut through the silence, his words dripping with malice. "Welcome, Lia," he said. "I've been waiting for you."
Lia's eyes locked onto Alessandro's, her expression fierce. "Let me go," she said. "I won't be your prisoner."
Alessandro chuckled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "You're not just a prisoner, Lia," he said. "You're a bargaining chip."
Lia's eyes narrowed, her mind racing with questions. What did Alessandro want? What was he planning?
As she looked at Alessandro, Lia saw something in his eyes, something that made her blood run cold. It was a sense of calculation, a sense of ruthlessness.
And Lia knew that she was in grave danger.
Alessandro's voice cut through the silence, his words dripping with malice. "You see, Lia, I have something that you want," he said. "And you're going to have to do something for me in return."
Lia's eyes locked onto Alessandro's, her expression fierce. "What do you want me to do?" she asked.
Alessandro's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with amusement. "I want you to betray Maximo," he said. "I want you to bring him to me."
Lia's heart sank as she heard Alessandro's words. She knew that she couldn't betray Maximo, not after everything they had been through.
But she also knew that she was in a difficult position. She was a prisoner, and Alessandro had the power to hurt her.
As she looked at Alessandro, Lia saw something in his eyes, something that made her realize that she had to make a choice. She could either betray Maximo, or she could try to escape.
And Lia knew that she would do whatever it took to protect Maximo, even if it meant sacrificing herself.
The weight of her chains was heavy on her wrists and ankles, but Lia knew that she couldn't let them break her. She had to find a way out, no matter what.
As she looked at Alessandro, Lia saw something in his eyes, something that made her realize that she had to be careful. She had to play a game, a game of cat and mouse.
And Lia knew that she would do whatever it took to win.
The game had begun, and Lia was ready to play.
