Skylar's POV
MOMMY ,MOMMY!
Skylar stood at the gate of her 3 year old son's kindergarten when she heard the sweet sound of her baby boy. With a wide smile she swept him up once he reached her and showered him with kisses.
" How was your first day my baby?" Skylar asked him.
"So much fun Mommy" her son beamed.
"I have a new frwend, his name is Michael" he stated in a high pitched voice filled with excitement.
Seeing the excitement and joy on her son's face, Skylar could not help but feel relieved that she indeed made the right choice to send him to kindergarten despite her previous anxieties and doubts.
"Look Mommy , there is my frwend" her son said while waving at a boy across the street.
Skylar looked up and saw a small boy about her son's hight , with chocolate brown hair and sun-kissed chubby cheeks.
The boy waved back with just as much enthusiasm as her son and a wide grin on his face. Next to the boy was a woman with the same chocolate brown hair and brown eyes that seemed to sparkle in the sunlight.
Skylar could help but be mesmerized by the woman's beauty, even with no make up and hair tied in a high bun, the woman looked absolutely stunning.
As Skylar walked to her car, the woman approached her.
"HI, you must be Duwayne's mother" she cheerfully greeted.
"OH HI, yes I am "Skylar replied.
"Nice to meet you, I am Mariah, I am Michael's mother" Mariah responded.
"Nice to meet you too Mariah, My name is Skylar, I hear our son's are quite the best friends" Skylar stated with a smile.
"OH my Goodness, I didn't even get a proper greeting when he came my way, just a "Mommy there is my Friend Duwayne ,we shared our lunch and candy" Mariah laughed.
With a giggles of her own Skylar responded " I am just happy they have been able to make friends on their first day of school"
"Me too, but hey listen, I am having a birthday party for Micheal this weekend, if you are not busy, I would love for you guys to join us , I believe Michael will be over the moon if his friend could join us" Mariah stated
" OH my , I am not sure , I will have to check my schedule and let you know" Skylar advised.
Skylar was a manager at a local logistics company, meaning she had to work or stand in at random times, she never knew how her weekends would look like and never made arrangements before hand.
"I understand , but here , take my number and let me know, we would really love to have you guys there " Mariah beamed.
After exchanging numbers both ladies went their separate ways.
Skylar headed back to the office to finish up some paper work that were due the following day.
Finally it was time to knock off, Skylar headed home, with her son, laughing and making jokes along the way.
Once home, Skylar prepared dinner for them and headed to the shower to wash up.
They both ate dinner and after eating they sat in front of the TV to watch a movie together.
Halfway through the movie , Skylar noticed that Duwayne had fallen asleep, she could not help but stare at her son's beautiful face, the face that resembled his father so much, the man that had broken her heart and left her as a single mother to this precious little soul. As much as she wanted to hate his father she couldn't, that man was her first, her first love , her first kiss , the first man she had shared herself with. But looking back she realized how blinded she was , blinded by love , how she did not realized that the love they "shared" was one sided.
Shaking her head , she picked up her son and headed to his room to lay him down in his bed. After switching on the bedside lamp, she closed the door halfway and headed to the kitchen to wash the few dishes from the dinner they had.
Once done she made sure all the doors and windows where closed and locked and headed to her bed.
Laying in bed she said a quick prayer and laid down to sleep.
Due to the busy day she had, it didn't take long for Skylar to dose off.
