Act 2
(Lights up on Phoebe sitting in the car, staring out the window. She turns to the audience and speaks directly.)
Phoebe (narrating):
Hi. I'm Phoebe.
Seventeen years old.
Assembly prefect.
Perfect attendance record.
And today... the first day of my senior year, I woke up late.
(She shakes her head and smiles a little.)
Not the perfect start, right?
But maybe that's the thing about senior year — you can't plan it. You just have to live it.
--Perfect! Let's pick up where we left off — Phoebe and Leslie are in the car driving to school. Here's a natural continuation for Scene Two:

Scene Two
(Inside Leslie's car — Phoebe fidgets nervously in the passenger seat, glancing at the time on her phone.)
Phoebe (anxious): Oh gosh, it's already 7:05... Assembly starts in twenty minutes!
Leslie (calmly): Relax, drama queen. We'll get there.
Phoebe (muttering): Easy for you to say. You're not the one who could lose their prefect badge.
(They pull up in front of the school. Students are already filing in through the gates, laughing and chatting.)
Phoebe (grabbing her backpack): Thanks, Les! You're the best!
(Phoebe jumps out of the car.)
Leslie (calling out): Knock 'em dead, sis!
(Leslie drives off.)
(Phoebe rushes up the steps, nearly colliding with her two best friends, Liam and Tessa.)
Tessa (laughing): Whoa! Slow down, tornado!
Liam (teasing): Is that... sweat I see? Miss Perfect Attendance?
Phoebe (catching her breath): Don't even joke about it. I woke up late. Almost had a meltdown.
Tessa (grinning): You? Late? The world must be ending.
Phoebe (laughing nervously): Seriously. Let's just get to assembly before something else goes wrong.
(Phoebe rushes up the steps, almost slamming into Sarah and josie)
Josie(laughing): Whoa! Slow down, tornado!
Sarah (teasing): Is that... sweat I see? Miss Perfect Attendance?
Phoebe (catching her breath): Don't even joke about it. First day of senior year and I almost ruined it.
Josie (grinning): You? Late? That's history being made right there.
Phoebe (laughing nervously): Seriously. Let's just get to assembly before something else happens.
(They start walking toward the auditorium. A big banner is being put up: "WELCOME SENIORS — CLASS OF 2025!")
Liam (reading): "Welcome Seniors"? Man, it feels weird seeing that.
Tessa (excited): I know, right? Our last first day!
Phoebe (softly): Last first day...
(She looks around, soaking in the atmosphere — groups of students laughing, teachers waving, decorations everywhere.)
Josie (bumping her shoulder playfully): Hey! No getting all emotional on us already. Save it for graduation.
Phoebe (smiling): Yeah, yeah. Let's go!
(They hurry inside the buzzing auditorium, ready to start their final year of high school.)
(Lights fade as they enter.)
---
Liam (reading): "Surprise Assembly"? What's that about?
Tessa (excited): Maybe it's something fun! Like, a senior prank reveal or a flashback video!
Phoebe (panicking slightly): A surprise? But I'm supposed to help organize the assembly! Why didn't anyone tell me?!
Liam (teasing): Maybe that's the surprise. You're not in charge for once.
(Phoebe, Tessa, and Liam laugh together as they hurry inside, wondering what surprises await.)
(Lights fade as they enter the auditorium, buzzing with excitement.)
