Nate POV
It was just after midnight. The sky was pitch black and there was a cold breeze drifting around. I opened the door knob and was shocked to still meet Rhymes waiting for me.
"Are you alright buddy? the news of Victor and Elisa's engagement is all over social media." Rhymes asked with a hint of worry in his tone.
I let out a weary sigh. "I'm better now. Victor set me up by using Danny to lure me to the party. I met Elena and Elisa, but I left before any incident happens.
"Also, some of Victor's men try to jump me in the alley but I overpowered them." I went to get a cold drink from the kitchen and slumped on the living room sofa.
Rhymes gasped as he listened to my events of the night. "Maybe Victor is still testing you. We have to be careful."
"Yes Father!" I scuffed as I went to my bedroom. Rhymes only let out a "hmph" as he closed the front door on his way out. I lay on my bed still remembering the beautiful gown Elisa wore. I slowly dozed off to sleep after the wild evening I had.
The next day, I met with Danny in the back room of their club. Some of them stared at me with disdain looks. I remained unfazed as I reached Danny.
"I'm sorry buddy-" He had an apologetic expression on his face, I gestured him to stop. I already knew he wasn't involved. He opened his mouth to say something, but he later changed his mind and remained silent.
Suddenly, the tattooed henchman of Victor, "Dom" entered the room. He had a dark aura of sheer evil which sent shivers across all his room. They all shivered and meekly averted his gaze. He walked towards me with a sense of superiority.
"I heard you beat up some guys yesterday?" Dom smirked while gazing at me. I quietly cuffed at the mention of "some guys." His demeanor changed as he had a serious look on his face.
"Since your so tough, the boss wants you to handle this case personally." He shoved a brown file aggressively on my chest. I let out a sigh as I opened it,it had a female face and her profile details.

It contained all her information including home and office address. I had a puzzled look on my face as I glanced at Dom. Sensing my confusion, He twisted his lips slightly.
"The Boss wants you to eliminate her as she writes false and hurtful things about him. Two men will escort to make sure you complete the mission." He signaled two men who were also in the room to follow me. He had a wry smile which made me belief he didn't want me to succeed or return alive.
I snapped back and replied " Since the boss asked, I will get it done." Dom's face turned ashen in envy. He hissed and dismissed us out of the room.
Me and the burly men arrived her home later in the night. It was a block of apartments that had a security lock that is buzzed opened from the inside. We waited till one of the occupants came out then we quickly entered. We went up to her flat number '8' boldly written on the door.
We covertly picked the door knob. It made a creaking sound.

The door slightly opened and we quietly entered her house. She was sleeping on the sofa while the TV was on. One of the burly men lewdly looked at her wearing only an over-sized T-shirt printed with the name of a popular university. He eyes widened in mischief as he lunged at her. Just as he was about to place his hands on her, there was a swift flash.
Crack!
I stood behind him and twisted his neck. It made a bone cracking sound. Lila woke up in a panicked state with fear in her eyes.
The second burly man's face turned red in anger. He was about to strike me when suddenly I stood right in front of him.
Swish!
I slit his throat with a knife in her kitchen. He froze in shock as he slumped on the floor. I cleaned the knife with a napkin I found on the kitchen table to wipe out my finger prints. I glanced at Lila as she was shivering all over her body.
I approached her calmly. "Hello Lila, my name is Nate. I'm here to protect you from this men. I promise no one will harm you anymore." I spoke in a soft voice. She gazed at me for some minutes before rushing to hug me tightly.
"Thank you, Nate." She said in a hoarse voice with tears streaming down her cheeks. I froze not knowing the right response. My hands hung in the air as I stood nervously. Her warm skin pressed against mine, that sent a sweet sensation ran through my body.
She finally snapped back to reality and cleared her throat. "Cough..how were those guys?" She snorted while cleaning the tears on her cheeks.
"They were men sent by Victor Langston to make you disappear." I signaled with my hand running through my throat. She gasped in awe and shuddered.
"Why will he want me gone?" She had a puzzling look on her face. I saw in her eyes pondering on various motives.
"He said you're tarnishing his image by publishing false stories about him." I replied in a gentle tone. Her eyes widened in shock.
"I haven't published any story on him yet, I just got some confidential information from a reliable source." She snapped.
"We have to collect all the evidence you have against him and leave the house immediately." I said in a serious tone. She nodded in agreement. Her cheeks turned red embarrassed as she finally realized she was only wearing a T-shirt. I averted my gaze to give her some privacy.
She rushed to the room while I hid the two bodies in a cupboard close by. She wore a green hoodie and jog pants. We went outside and hurriedly booked a taxi.
