Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: The Legendary Da Huang

Everyone struck by the Seven-Star Demon Abyss Sword was left with a gaping, fist-sized hole in their chest. Like a phantom of the night, the sword darted through the battlefield, brutally tearing apart every challenger trapped in the illusion.

Ever since absorbing the Qingkong Dragon Fox, Ye Chen's spiritual power had surged to terrifying levels—enough to overwhelm even high-ranking soul masters, perhaps even rivaling a titled Douluo.

With the constant nourishment of system soul power, he was now capable of casting a massive illusion affecting thousands. Compared to his ocean-like mental strength, these fourth-ring soul masters were like toddlers—fragile and helpless. If his fourth soul skill didn't consume so much energy, Ye Chen believed he could've wiped out their consciousnesses entirely inside the illusion.

As bodies dropped and blood pooled on the grass, Ye Chen didn't hesitate. If roles were reversed, he knew these challengers wouldn't spare him either.

Participating in a battle-for-bride match required the resolve to die. No one is born a killer, but that didn't mean Ye Chen would show mercy.

In the skies above the West Building, the long crimson arc left behind by the Demon Abyss Sword grew even more intense. Its twisting, elegant trajectory was lined with thick, tangible blood mist. The air was heavy with the scent of iron. The sword's trail looked like a streak of living blood—ominous and deadly.

"Ye Chen's grown so strong… I can't believe how much he's changed in just a few months," Hu Liena said from atop the stone statue, her eyes full of relief. "As long as he's safe, I'm content."

Beside her, Bibi Dong smiled slightly. With this strength… my plans will not go to waste.

"Hiss... Did he just kill all those people by himself?"

The genius soul masters watching from the sidelines gasped in unison. Their faces were pale with disbelief.

"Isn't he only at level 41? How can he be this powerful?!"

"This is insane… he's suppressing thousands single-handedly. Who else can do this in our generation?"

"If I faced a thousand attackers, I'd be lucky to take down a few before dying."

"His true strength is beyond comprehension. That illusion—just that alone—crippled everyone. What kind of mental power does it take to trap thousands at once?!"

"Guys… Ye Chen's killing people left and right. Why hasn't the Pope stopped him? Unless…"

One of them suddenly grew alert. "I think I need to visit the Elder Hall..."

Most of them were frantically calculating their chances of defeating Ye Chen—and the more they thought, the less confident they became.

Just sensing the mental pressure from the battlefield was enough to tell them they wouldn't last a second inside his illusion. Even soul kings like them would be like lambs to the slaughter.

And that might not even be his full power.

Ye Chen stood there—calm, composed, with a faint smile. Handsome and seemingly gentle, yet what he just did was pure carnage. Bodies were strewn everywhere. Blood soaked into the earth like ink on parchment.

The remaining dozen or so genius soul masters exchanged nervous glances.

Then, Ye Chen slowly looked up and asked, "Anyone else?"

Before he could finish, a burly man raised his hand and yelled, "Crap! I forgot to hang up my laundry—gotta go!"

And with that, he sprinted off and vanished.

Another man slapped his forehead. "Damn it! I left chicken stew on the stove. If I don't go now, I'm skipping lunch!"

Then another added, "Speaking of which, I just remembered—my 6-year-old sister hasn't been fed yet. She's probably crying her eyes out. Later, folks!"

"…Dude, your sister's six. She's not breastfeeding. Can you make a better excuse?" someone snapped.

Next to him, another guy declared seriously, "My puppy was just born. Needs me. Can't stay."

"Hold up!" someone shouted. "Isn't your dog Da Huang a male? Yesterday he humped my dog! And now you say he's a puppy?!"

"Yeah! Not just a perv, your Da Huang is sneaky too! He stole my sausage the other day—then left a piece of his own crap in its place!"

"That's nothing! My poor alpaca got violated. THREE times in a day. Now every time it hears the word 'dog,' it foams at the mouth and bites everyone!"

"Same here!"

"And me!"

A full-blown shouting match broke out as everyone blamed Da Huang. In the middle of it, a bewildered guy—presumably Da Huang's owner—cried, "My Da Huang's only a month old! You monsters! You've slandered my sweet pup! I'll fight all of you!"

And fight they did.

They summoned their martial souls, unleashed skills, and chased each other off the battlefield, gradually disappearing from sight.

Now, only two figures remained standing among the corpses and blood.

One was a tall, sharp-eyed woman dressed in tight black leather. Her wrist bore a small crimson mark—like the legendary virgin's seal. She looked about 25.

The other was a man no one had seen before. He wore a suit with a flashy gelled-up haircut that didn't match his vibe at all, and on his feet… flip-flops. He looked both sharp and slobby at the same time. A walking contradiction.

Before Ye Chen could speak, the woman stepped forward and introduced herself. "I'm Qiu Xiaoxiao. You can call me Xiaoxiao."

The man beside her sighed and muttered, "Call me Qiu Bin. And please ignore my delusional sister. Honestly, I'd prefer she married a decent guy like you—strong and good-looking. You'd be a great match."

"Brother! Don't say weird things!"

He shook his head dramatically. "I just don't want you throwing your life away. So I'll have to win this match and save you from yourself, my foolish little sister."

"You're the fool!"

Ye Chen looked at them bickering and let out a sigh.

Why do I feel like I'm the extra in this scene…?
