Cherreads

Chapter 2 - The Beginning 2

The sun sat as usual and next morning came. Shambhu and his family got up and completed their morning routine. Then they went into the compound for the ceremonies. As they reached there, they saw the same fat man, Punda Mote, was there for the ceremony too. There was square hole in the ground, Kundam, and some wood has been put in to the the hole in such a way that air flow was not stopped. There were other materials and tools for the ceremony in different colored and sized, round plates.

Mote - Come, come. I was waiting for you people. You didn't have any problems , did you ?

" We were totally comfortable. There was no problem. " Satya said.

" Okay, So what are the names of you ,boys?"

"Shambhu"."Ananta". Both of them replied one after another.

"Can you tell me what are you guys here for? "

" I am here for my sacred thread ceremony." Said Shambhu.

" And I am here for my first head shaving." Ananta replied.

" Ananta, your ceremony will be done by the man behind me, Giri. You , Shambhu, come and sit on the west side of the Kundam. "

Shambhu sat accordingly facing east direction and Mote sat on his right hand side facing North. Mote started reciting some mantras and the fire started burning in the Kundam on its own. A thread of yellow colour was brought and then some sacred rituals were done to the thread. Then Mote asked " Which class do you choose? "

" What's there to choose. I was born a SEEKER. " Sambhu replied.

Monte retorted with slight dissatisfaction "That's not how it goes. You can choose whatever class you want to be. You must atleast know the basics."

Shambhu looked towards his father, who signaled him to just choose his own choice and complete the rituals silently. Shambhu listened and completed his ceremony by taking the final oath. The rituals got completed but a question was still hanging in Shambhu's mind.

Everybody returned to their rooms and so did Shambhu and his family. His father had gone to bring fruits to eat and he was still thinking about the things that were different than what it was supposed to be according to him. His mother saw him with a restless face and asked.

" What is troubling you, Son ?"

" Mother, there are so many different things than what father had said. If whole world works like this then why are we different and what is the truth?

" Hmm , you really are restless. Remember your father told you about the last lesson. Today is the day you will get it. Let him come back and ask him what ever you want to ask"

As they were having this conversation Satya came back . He spoke as soon as he entered the room " Shambhu, eat whatever you want then get ready for a test and a lesson."

After some time the son father duo was sitting facing each other. Satya then asked with a calm expression" Tell me ,son, what you know about the society and the world on a basic scale. Tell me what I taught you then you can ask your questions? Shambhu started speaking " This world, our planet, is known as Dharitri . There are seven main lands called Dweeps and we live in Jambu Dweep. There are over 30 billion humans in this world. The other Dweeps don't have any defined structure of society, people do whatever they want and that's it. There are no duties bound by birth. Here the society is divided into four classes SEEKERS, PROTECTORS, MERCHANTS, AND WORKERS. These classes are designated by God, the supreme consciousness, by birth. This is what you taught me. But here everybody says everybody can choose to do what he wants or rather he becomes what ever he does as the classes are ever changing. "

" Hmm. You are right. But tell me about these classes and how they build society according to DHARMA. "

" A SEEKER'S job is to pursue knowledge of all kinds and know DHARMA at any moment. A PROTECTOR'S job is to protect dharma and society with his life at any moment.

A MERCHANT OR VANIK'S duty is to do business and thus become the financial backbone of the society. And WORKERS itself are the society. They provide services and they are the industrial backbone of the society. When they all come together a complete society is formed. "

"And what does Dharma do? " Satya asked .

" Dharma means duty. In any situation or role ones moral obligation is called Dharma. Thus it makes every person responsible for its own duty."

" What if one doesn't follow DHARMA? "

" Then the protector must do his duty and protect DHARMA".

" And what if the Protector says that he has now become a seeker?"

" He can't say that as he is bound by his duty. But if he says so, the society itself must punish him otherwise society will crumble"

" Now you see the problem if one decide to be whatever he wants, whenever he wants there will be chaos everywhere. One must fulfill its duties. As a Father it's my Dharma to protect you . I can't say no to it. Same is class." Satya spoke with a smile. " See, son , most of the world believes in KARMA. But more than half of them believe life is one time thing. Even those who believe souls and reincarnation say that whatever you sow is reaped here, thus no next life will be influenced by your deeds in this life. But what they don't think about is that it is only possible if life was one to one interaction. But in life, depending on your position and power, your one decision can influence lives of thousands of people. Even a simple man's work will influence people he don't even know. Then how can one reap every single seed sown in one life time. The good or bad deeds remaining from this life will decide your next birth. You can be a seeker, protector, merchant or worker. You can be human, bird, animal, fish or even an insect".

" But father how do you know all of this but didn't tell me? "
