Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Opening the Beast Taming Space

"It seems that the Slime can't utilize the Alternating Tactics paired with the Spiritual Energy Spring talent."

The Alternating Tactics is the best strategy for the Spiritual Energy Spring, but the prerequisite for successfully employing this tactic is that your Pet Beast with the Spiritual Energy Spring can defeat the opponent's Pet Beast. The Slime's overall stats are too low, making it difficult to triumph over other Pet Beasts.

If it can't even win, how can it alternate?

[Talent]: Growth Aura

[Level]: Blue Rare

[Effect]: Accelerates the growth speed of surrounding creatures, plants, and minerals.

[Note]: In battle, it can speed up plant growth-type skills.

Aura-type talents are extremely rare, and the rarity of the Growth Aura is even higher than that of a Purple Epic talent.

If you were to sell a Slime with the Growth Aura and a Slime with the Spiritual Energy Spring online, the Slime with the Growth Aura would fetch a higher price than the one with the Spiritual Energy Spring.

[Talent]: Digest

[Level]: Green Elite

[Effect]: Enhances the Pet Beast's digestive ability.

[Note]: A true Glutton, so watch your wallet.

Among the three talents, Digest is of the lowest quality, but Li Cunxu knows the method to evolve it into a higher-tier talent.

Talents can evolve, provided you know the evolution method and gather the necessary resources for the talent's evolution.

The evolution chain for the Digest talent: Stomach Fortification (White) → Digest (Green) → Rapid Digestion (Blue) → Glutton (Purple) → All-Consuming (Gold).

Li Cunxu is inclined to choose between the Growth Aura and Digest, with the Spiritual Energy Spring being the first to be ruled out.

Although the Spiritual Energy Spring is a good talent, it can't help a weak Slime turn the tables.

Talents aren't necessarily better just because they are of higher quality; they need to be more suitable.

A Slime with the Digest talent can evolve into a formidable Devouring Slime. In a previous game, a high-level player who loved experimenting managed to cultivate one.

The Devouring Slime is incredibly powerful, with few rivals at the same level.

The cost, however, is that it consumes too many resources. The resources that could have been used to cultivate ten Lord-level Pets were spent on just one Gold-level Devouring Slime.

That high-level player who loved experimenting only managed to cultivate the Devouring Slime to the Gold level before stopping.

The reason was that it was too resource-intensive. If he continued, he would have run out of resources to cultivate his main Pet Beast and would have fallen out of the ranks of top-tier players in Divine Taming.

After some hesitation, Li Cunxu picked up the Slime with the Growth Aura.

The cost-effectiveness of cultivating a Devouring Slime is too low. If he were a tycoon, he would definitely choose the Devouring Slime, but he isn't.

Aside from the low cost-effectiveness of the Devouring Slime, there are two other reasons for choosing the Slime with the Growth Aura.

First: Li Cunxu knows a secret about aura-type talents.

Pet Beasts with aura-type talents are more likely to comprehend a Domain and easier to break through from Gold-level to Lord-level.

There is a vast chasm between Gold-level and Lord-level, and only by crossing this chasm can one be called a true powerhouse.

This chasm is extremely difficult to overcome, and many talented individuals have been stuck at this stage, ending their lives in frustration.

Second: Li Cunxu knows a method to grant a Pet Beast a second talent.

In the later stages, Li Cunxu will have the opportunity to grant the Slime with the Growth Aura an additional Digest talent.

Of course, it was only an opportunity, not a certainty. The method to gain a second talent was extremely dangerous, requiring the retrieval of an item from the perilous forbidden zone known as the Mist Sea. Whether one could obtain that item was purely a matter of luck.

Li Cunxu closed his eyes, focusing intently as he recited the Contract Document of Beast Taming.

The Contract Document possessed the power to commune with the heavens and the earth. As he finished the recitation, the surrounding area was enveloped by the energy of the universe, and an ancient, mysterious light array appeared on the ground. The array consisted of two circles, one large and one small, connecting Li Cunxu and the Slime.

Three Contract Slots materialized, and Li Cunxu chose the one that was slightly smaller than the other two, resembling a moon that had been bitten by a dog—a flawed Contract Slot.

The final and most crucial step of contracting a Pet Beast had arrived.

The Pet Beast's consent.

The contract was a matter between the Beast Tamer and the Pet Beast, and both parties had to agree for it to succeed.

This was a step Li Cunxu wasn't worried about.

High-quality supernatural beings disdained forming contracts with humans, with the proud dragon race being the most representative example. This was because, even without the help of a Beast Tamer, they could grow incredibly strong.

If a Beast Tamer's aptitude was lacking, it would only hold them back, as the level of the Pet Beast was tied to that of the Beast Tamer. If the Beast Tamer failed to break through, the Pet Beast would be unable to do so as well.

On the other hand, low-quality supernatural beings were particularly eager to form contracts with Beast Tamers, as the Tamers could help them break through their racial limits and evolve.

This newly born Water Slime didn't fully understand what the contract meant, but its subconscious and genes told it that signing the contract would bring immense benefits. Thus, it agreed without hesitation.

Li Cunxu's mind felt as if it had been struck by lightning, wracked with excruciating pain.

This was the power of the heavens and the earth, helping Li Cunxu open up his Beast Taming Space.

Li Cunxu's veins bulged as he gripped the sofa tightly, preventing himself from collapsing to the ground. The pain washed over him like relentless waves crashing against the shore.

A voice echoed in his mind, urging him to sleep. If he slept, the pain would vanish.

Li Cunxu forced himself to stay awake, knowing that if he succumbed to sleep now, the opening of his Beast Taming Space would halt.

Although some space had already been opened, falling asleep at this moment would result in a much smaller Beast Taming Space.

The process of opening the Beast Taming Space would last ten minutes. Holding on for one minute was considered decent, three minutes showed strong willpower, and five minutes demonstrated an iron will.

Holding on for the full ten minutes was rare even within the entire alliance.

The pain made Li Cunxu lose all sense of time, each second feeling like an eternity.

In reality, after five minutes, the Beast Taming Space would stop expanding.

Continuing to endure would make the Beast Taming Space more stable and increase the number of Bearing Points.

Bearing Points were crucial. On one hand, they indicated the stability of the Beast Taming Space, and on the other, they determined the number of Curios it could bear.

Curios had diverse functions. They could alter the environment of an otherwise blank Beast Taming Space or imbue it with special effects.

For example, the Beast Taming Space itself did not generate spiritual energy. It required a Curio capable of producing spiritual energy for the space to begin generating it.

Similarly, bearing a volcanic Curio could evolve the Beast Taming Space into a volcanic environment suitable for fire-attribute Pet Beasts, while bearing an oceanic Curio could create a marine environment ideal for water-attribute Pet Beasts.

The opening process had concluded, and Li Cunxu found himself sitting on the ground at some point, with a puddle of water beneath him.

Sweat poured down like rain.

His clothes were soaked through, as if he had just been pulled out of water.

Glancing at the time on his phone, he realized that the process of opening the Beast Taming Space had taken a full twenty minutes.

"Normally, it takes ten minutes, but it took me twenty. Could it be because of the fusion of my two souls?"
