Dominic wasn't just angry—he was out for blood.
By the next morning, one of Matt's businesses, a high-end restaurant that laundered money for the family, went up in flames. A message, loud and clear. But that wasn't the worst of it.
Luca was missing.
Matt stood in his penthouse, staring at his phone. The last call Luca had made was to one of their men, saying he was on his way to meet a contact. He never showed.
Miriam paced near the bar, arms crossed. "You think Dominic knows?"
Matt clenched his jaw. "If he does, Luca's already dead."
Miriam exhaled. "So what's the play? We hit Dominic back?"
Matt shook his head. "Not yet. First, we find Luca."
The Hunt Begins
Matt and Miriam hit the streets, talking to their informants, bribing cops, shaking down anyone who might have seen something.
By nightfall, they had a lead—a warehouse on the west side.
Matt loaded his gun. "We go in quiet. If Dominic has him, we get Luca out. If it's a trap—"
Miriam smirked. "We kill our way out."
The Warehouse – 2:00 AM
The building was dark, only a single light shining from inside. Matt and Miriam moved in fast and silent.
They slipped through a side entrance, guns raised. Inside, the air smelled like blood and gasoline.
Then they saw him.
Luca.
Tied to a chair, his face beaten, blood pooling at his feet.
And standing in front of him—Dominic.
Matt froze.
Dominic turned, a slow smile spreading across his face. "I was wondering when you'd show up."
Miriam lifted her gun. "Let him go."
Dominic chuckled. "You think I don't know what Luca's been doing? You really thought you could turn my own men against me?"
Matt stepped forward. "This isn't your city anymore, Dominic."
Dominic's smile faded. "You ungrateful little shit. I built this family. I made you."
Matt's grip tightened around his gun. "And now I'm taking it."
Dominic pulled out his own gun and pressed it against Luca's temple. "You want him? Trade."
Matt narrowed his eyes. "For what?"
Dominic grinned. "You. Surrender, and Luca walks."
Miriam whispered, "It's a setup."
Matt already knew.
He exhaled slowly, eyes locking with Dominic's. "You always taught me to think ahead, Uncle."
Dominic raised a brow. "So?"
Matt smirked. "So I already did."
Gunfire exploded from the back of the warehouse.
Dominic's men shouted as bullets tore through them. Matt's crew had been waiting, hidden in the shadows. An ambush.
Dominic cursed, turning his gun away from Luca—just for a second.
That was all Matt needed.
BANG.
A single shot. Right to Dominic's shoulder.
He stumbled back, dropping his gun.
Miriam moved fast, cutting Luca loose.
Dominic clutched his wound, snarling. "You really think this is over?"
Matt stepped closer, gun aimed at Dominic's head. "No, Uncle. This is just the beginning."
BANG.
The shot echoed through the warehouse.
Dominic collapsed, blood pooling around him.
Matt exhaled. Then he turned to Luca and Miriam. "Let's finish this."
Because Dominic wasn't dead yet.
But soon—he would be.
