Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: No Turning Back

Dominic was alive—but barely.

Matt's bullet had torn through his shoulder, and his men had dragged him out before Matt could finish the job. But the message was clear.

Dominic's reign was ending.

Matt sat in Luca's safe house, a cigarette burning between his fingers. Across from him, Luca winced as Miriam stitched up a gash on his forehead.

"Hold still," she muttered.

Luca smirked. "You're enjoying this, aren't you?"

Miriam pulled the thread tight. "A little."

Matt exhaled smoke, his eyes distant. "Dominic won't hide. He's too proud for that. He'll come for us."

Luca wiped the blood from his chin. "Then we hit him first."

Matt nodded. "We finish this. No more waiting. No more half-measures."

Miriam leaned against the table. "We're talking full-scale war."

Matt crushed his cigarette. "We already started it. Now we end it."

The Final Play

The plan was simple.

Cut off Dominic's last remaining allies. His men were loyal to power, not family. Take away his money, his resources, and they'd turn on him.

Flush him out. Make the city too dangerous for him to hide.

Kill him.

By dawn, Matt's crew was already moving. Dominic's safe houses? Burned. His lieutenants? Either killed or bribed to switch sides.

By midnight, Dominic was down to a handful of men.

And Matt knew exactly where he was hiding.

The Last Stand – Abandoned Church, South Side

Rain poured as Matt, Miriam, and Luca stepped into the ruined church. The stained-glass windows were shattered, the pews rotting.

At the altar, Dominic stood waiting. A gun in one hand, a bloodstained bandage on his shoulder.

He smirked. "Took you long enough."

Matt stepped forward, gun raised. "This ends tonight."

Dominic chuckled, shaking his head. "You think killing me makes you a boss? Makes you a man?"

Matt's jaw tightened. "It makes me free."

Dominic's smirk faded. "No, Matteo. It makes you me."

The words hit harder than the bullet Matt had put in him. But he didn't flinch.

Dominic sighed. "Go ahead. Do it."

Matt didn't move.

Miriam and Luca watched in silence.

Then Dominic smirked. "You don't have the balls."

BANG.

The shot rang through the empty church.

Dominic staggered, blood dripping from his mouth. He looked down at the bullet hole in his chest—then back at Matt.

A slow nod. Respect.

Then he collapsed.

Dead.

Aftermath

The city belonged to Matt now.

The Bianchi name was his to shape, his to rule. But as he stood outside the church, rain soaking his clothes, he didn't feel like a king.

Miriam stepped beside him. "You did it."

Matt didn't answer.

Because for the first time in his life…

He wasn't sure if he'd won.
