Chapter 15 - Perspectives of the Guardians and Workers

Aric's Point of View

I've always been a guard. It's what I was made for, what I was trained for—standing watch, keeping the area secure. The rhythm of it is second nature to me. Even in this strange new world, I fall into the role without hesitation.

But something's different now.

I'm guarding more than just land. I'm guarding Darius—his vision, his resolve. He's no king, not yet. But the way he works, the way he thinks ahead, the way he keeps pushing forward… there's something about it that demands respect.

I watch over the land as I always do, scanning the perimeter. The forest is quiet today, too quiet. The breeze rustles through the trees, but there's no sense of danger. Lira moves quickly with the resources, and Darius seems to have an endless energy for the work. They make it look easy, even though I know the effort it takes.

It's not just about guarding, though. I see the houses coming up. The small village that's growing. I'm not just standing watch anymore. I'm a part of something.

When I see the new houses going up, I feel a flicker of pride. Darius hasn't just built a shelter—he's building a future. It's like watching a tree grow from a seed, one step at a time. I know my place in this.

Still, there's always the quiet in my mind. The feeling that something is watching us. But it's not time to act yet. It's not time to prepare for anything bigger. For now, my duty is clear: protect, watch, and ensure that nothing interrupts the work.

Lira's Point of View

I wasn't expecting this.

The last thing I remember before being summoned was the cold, endless dark. And then, suddenly, I'm standing in a forest, surrounded by trees and moss, with a man named Darius telling me that I had been summoned to help him. I didn't understand it at first, but I've learned quickly.

Darius is different from the masters I've known before. His commands aren't just orders—they're part of something bigger. He's building something, something real. And I'm a part of it.

I can't remember much about who I was before this, but I can feel the knowledge of work running through me—gathering, building, sustaining. This world, strange as it is, feels like a place I've been meant to help.

Right now, I'm focused on the work. Stone and wood, the materials of this land. I feel the weight of them, the rough texture of the stone in my hands, the splintering of the wood. I gather it all carefully, efficiently, knowing that each piece of stone, each cut of timber, brings us closer to something greater.

The houses are starting to look like homes, not just structures. They're places where we can live, where we can grow, where we can belong. The first house stands tall, and there's something about it that feels like a promise—our future, secure and steady.

I see Aric, standing guard at the edge of the area. He's always watching, always alert. I don't know much about him, but I can tell he's dedicated to keeping us safe. There's a quiet strength in him—he doesn't say much, but his presence is reassuring.

I'm here to build. To gather. And I will give my all to it.

Darius' Observation

---

As I look at Aric and Lira, I see the strength in their different roles. Aric stands guard, an ever-watchful protector, while Lira works tirelessly, gathering and building. They don't ask questions, they don't hesitate. They've settled into their roles as if they've always been here, as if this was always their purpose.

And in some ways, I suppose it has been.

I'm grateful for both of them. Without Aric, I couldn't focus on the expansion and growth of the settlement. Without Lira, the construction of homes would be slow, the land still barren and untended.

This is more than just survival. This is something new, something worthwhile. Together, we're creating it.
