Chapter 2: The Truth of the New World
Jin closed the shelter gate behind him and climbed to the rooftop of a ruined building. His three zombies stood guard below as he entered a dusty apartment. Somehow, this place still had electricity—barely. A flickering TV showed a live broadcast.
A shaky reporter, covered in scratches, spoke with terror in his voice:
"It's been just one day… and already 90% of the global population has turned into zombies. This is not a disease… this is something else.
But there's hope. Some humans—those who have survived—are starting to awaken strange powers by absorbing glowing crystals found inside certain zombies…"
Jin's eyes widened. So it wasn't just him. Others were getting stronger too.
"...As of now, power-holders are being classified by ranks: E to SSS. Some say a man in Europe has already reached C-rank within just a day…"
Jin gritted his teeth. "I'm already falling behind?"
He didn't want to be a background character. He had a system, after all. That had to mean something.
Jin stepped outside again. The blood rain had stopped—but the city was still crawling with the undead.
He began his first true hunt.
Three zombies.
Five zombies.
Ten zombies.
Slash. Command. Kill.
His controlled zombies tore through the E-rank enemies, but…

After twenty kills, Jin collapsed behind a car, panting in frustration. "Why the hell am I not getting any crystals!?"
The system's cool voice echoed:

Jin stood up, cracked his neck, and stared at a new pack of zombies crawling from the alley.
"Let's hunt again. This time… I'll get something."
