keep in mind that a 10,000 year soul beast hasn't necessarily lived for 10,000 years, it's just a name for the power system.

At the time of awakening, the amount of soul power you have determines your cultivation talent. this is called the innate soul power.

Each soul ring gives the soul master an additional ability called a soul skill, where 100,000 year soul rings give 2 soul skills, and 1,000,000 year soul rings give 4 soul skills.
The soul skill is primarily determined from the abilities of the soul beast you hunt, their age, and your martial soul.
The soul beast type determines the type of soul skill, the age determines the affectiveness of it, and your martial soul determines the way it's released.
If the attributes of the soul skill don't align with the attributes of your martial soul, the affect will be reduced.
a soul skill could be anything from farting psychodelic gas, to resurrecting the dead.
you can also create soul skills by yourself, which are called "self-created soul skills".
