Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: First Meeting with the Five Elders of My Own Family

[Holy Land, Mary Geoise]

"Lord Rosse! Please mete out punishment!", Guernica knelt on the ground, a look of fear on his face.

From the conversation between Rosse and Kong, even if he were truly stupid, he had realized the problem.

Perhaps Rosse didn't intend to talk with Kong at all, but wanted him to pass on a message to Saint Saturn. It was his own foolish assumption.

"Go to my grandfather, and tell him what happened today. If I find out you've hidden anything, you know what comes after," Rosse spoke lightly. If he were currently stronger than Guernica, or had a confidant stronger than Guernica, he would've killed him on the spot.

Someone this stupid, keeping him around would only invite disaster.

Still, as long as today's situation reached Saint Saturn's ears, his goal was achieved.

As for fools like Guernica, Saint Saturn would take care of them.

People like Guernica were only suited to shine on the frontlines and finally die loyal to the World Government.

"As you command!", Guernica didn't dare say another word, afraid Rosse would change his mind. He moved his body and instantly disappeared without a trace.

"Strength, huh…", Rosse sighed softly. Just now, Guernica's departure path, he couldn't see it at all.

Unfortunately, this body was too weak. Unless he ate a Devil Fruit, relying solely on training to become stronger, even with the best instructors and training resources, would still take years.

Even after eating a Devil Fruit, development and growth also take time.

At present, he didn't hope to become strong himself.

He was already a Celestial Dragon; the key now was to first find a group of strong confidants.

If the already grown ones with Conqueror's Haki couldn't be subdued, then start nurturing them from young. First strengthen his team.

This Buster Call on Ohara was a very good starting point.

An hour later, a short, stout old man with overwhelming authority slowly stepped into Rosse' palace.

The old man made a grand entrance. Two lines of CP0 members stood on either side, extending from outside the palace all the way to the Jaygarcia family's gate. A wide path was left in the middle, showcasing the old man's nobility.

'Just returning home and still putting on such a display, who even is it for?', Rosse shook his head inwardly. His gaze slowly shifted and landed on the tall CP0 member behind the old man to his left.

This CP0 was holding the just-departed Guernica. At this moment, Guernica looked nothing like when he had left. His white suit was in tatters, his entire body covered in blood marks, his aura weak to the extreme, appearing absolutely miserable.

Rosse glanced at Guernica's tragic state, but felt no emotional ripple. He just thought this was all perfectly normal.

Among the Celestial Dragons, he probably counted as a kind-hearted one.

"Grandfather!", Rosse stood up and walked forward with a smile, his gaze ultimately settling on the short, stout old man at the front.

The old man had a fat build, a full head of white hair, and a beard all gray and white. He held a cane in his hand and exuded an aura of authority.

At the same time, information about this old man quickly surfaced in Rosse' mind.

Jaygarcia Saturn, head of the Jaygarcia family, one of the Five Elders, overseer of the Navy and external affairs, also Rosse' biological grandfather.

[Jaygarcia Saturn]

[Overall Rating: S+]

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Overall rating was a combination of strength and status. Otherwise, Rosse couldn't have gotten an A rating.

Perhaps Saturn's strength alone didn't reach S+, but combined with his status as a Five Elder, being rated among the world's highest was not a problem.

"Rosse, it's been a while since I came here. You seem a bit different from before," Saturn spoke cheerfully, like a kind old grandpa.

After hearing Guernica's report, Saturn keenly noticed Rosse' change.

In the past, Rosse only fought crickets. When would he ever care about naval matters?

Guernica might be dim-witted, but his memory was intact. What Guernica couldn't grasp, Saturn understood instantly.

This grandson of his… seemed not so simple anymore.

Still, Saturn was mostly pleased. He didn't overthink it. Sudden changes in people were normal in the pirate world; there were countless cases of personalities shifting dramatically.

The Jaygarcia family had been unremarkable for generations. If anything happened to him, the Jaygarcia family might sink to the level of the Roswald family.

"Maybe it's because I've always seen you as my goal, so I never paid much attention to the family environment," Rosse replied with a smile.

"Haha, what goal am I? If your generation can produce a few God's Knights members, I'd be satisfied," Saturn laughed, shaking his head.

"Since it's Grandfather's wish, then I, your grandson, will definitely become a member of the God's Knights," Rosse started spouting nonsense.

The God's Knights was a combat force composed of Celestial Dragons and special elites. They were solely responsible for the safety and rule of the Celestial Dragons. The Supreme Commander had the authority to deal with Celestial Dragons and was always a Celestial Dragon himself. Their status was second only to the Five Elders.

Normally, if there was a vacancy among the Five Elders, it was filled by the God's Knights commander.

Rosse and Saturn chatted about family matters, like any ordinary grandfather and grandson.

In memory, Rosse and Saturn didn't have much of a bond. They barely saw each other and only had the nominal tie of blood.

Back when Saturn saw him, he was never this warm.

But even if it appeared warm, every word from Saturn had an undercurrent of probing.

Some of those probes Rosse chose to ignore, following Celestial Dragon customs. Others he answered the way Saturn hoped.

After only half an hour of chatting, Saturn already had a smile on his face, "Rosse, I heard you requested Admiral Zephyr from the Navy and also plan to participate in this Buster Call?"

After all that talk, the real topic finally came up.

As the God of Scientific Defense among the Five Elders, Saturn oversaw science and military affairs. The three forces of the World Government were all under his charge.

Rosse requesting Zephyr from the Navy was the same as poaching someone from him.

"Yes. Those old slaves are too weak. I heard Zephyr is good at training, so I'm planning to let him train my slaves," Rosse said casually.

He knew whether he could get Zephyr depended on Saturn's stance.

But if he wanted Zephyr, he couldn't appear too eager. Otherwise, Saturn definitely wouldn't let him succeed.

Though he called Saturn "grandfather," they didn't share true feelings. If Saturn knew he had designs on Zephyr, he would definitely get manipulated.

"Zephyr, huh? He's indeed good at training Marines, but using him as your personal guard seems like overkill."

"Grandfather, how's it overkill? Just an Admiral, right? Can he be nobler than our Jaygarcia family? I don't really care who it is. If you find someone about the same, that works too," Rosse said nonchalantly.

"True, just an Admiral," Saturn nodded understandingly. He didn't think there was anything wrong with Rosse.

But directly giving Zephyr to Rosse, that won't do.

It wasn't that he couldn't part with a top-tier force, but because of Rosse' identity.

The Celestial Dragons weren't just his family, there were four other Five Elders.

If he gave Zephyr to Rosse, the other Five Elders would think he was using his position to benefit his grandson.

If word got out, the other Elders would definitely want something in return from him.

But the Jaygarcia family hadn't produced any elites for generations. If Rosse could rise up, assigning an Admiral-level guard wasn't out of the question.

"Let's do this," After thinking for a few seconds, Saturn said calmly, "I'll appoint Zephyr as a CP0 instructor, temporarily responsible for training CP0 for the Jaygarcia family."

First transfer Zephyr to CP0, let him spend some time with Rosse.

Whether he could keep Zephyr depended on Rosse' ability.

If he could, it meant Rosse had elite potential and was worth investing in.

"Thank you, Grandfather!", Rosse grinned wide.

'Isn't that settled?'

With Saturn's words, he didn't even need to talk Zephyr into it anymore.

Said to be training CP0 for the Jaygarcia family, but once he arrived, wasn't he just Rosse' bodyguard?

First Admiral-level combat power—acquired!
