Chapter 12 - Yellow Stonification

Yellow Stonification

***

Lawa reached a mound of sand, and he concluded that there was a cave underneath where things were stored.

Lawa looked around, he had learned his lesson. So, he tried to remember things he knew about the Yellow Desert Lizard. Well, there was not much.

Despite being Iron Grade Maha Beasts, they were solitary creatures due to their overwhelming confidence in their ability and their environment and Rachis Innate.

One thing was, if there was Silver Grade within kilometres, all Iron Grade to Bronze Grade Lizards would submit to them.

That is why sometimes they appear smart for their good.

Lawa calmed his heart and stayed away from the mound before he raised his hand and tried to feel the sand around him.

He relaxed and enjoyed the novelty of Extreme Skill before he yanked the mound open. If there was a Silver Grade Lizard, he would run away, but if there weren't, he would stay.

It was a cave, and his staff was the newest addition, and it was at the forefront.

Lawa noticed other stuff within, but mostly, they were junk.

The sand churned and moved the staff toward him together with a shield that seemed the only useful item there.

But he felt a tug on them. There was venom on them.

Their venom behaved like glue that can't be washed with water or sand. So rubbing it on the sand will not reduce its effect.

Lawa let go of the shield and began to add force on the staff while also making sand rise and fall around him.

That will serve as an intimidation.

A few minutes later, nothing was holding the staff. Lawa yanked it to himself before he began to move back slowly.

That was when multiple heads came out from the sand, and they stared at him. There was a staring contest for a moment before they went back.

Lawa sighed and left the place while keeping his attention on the sand. With Yellow Sand Dune he has some sensitivity inside the sand.

The lizard, also with limited understanding, knows that someone who can control sand is a bad match for them. Since they were basically like fish in the sand and served as their camouflage and hunting ground.

If there were at least fifty of them then they would deem it was good for them to attack him.

This coordination they showed confirmed one thing. They have Silver Grade close by.

Lawa moved fast until he no longer felt some scuffling under the sand.

He sighed and he steadily walked, still vigilant and pulled out a scribe tablet. It was a round smooth stone that he could clench in his fist.

He went through the plan many times, refreshing his mind.

He then walked ahead, as he was moving far away from trees and large mounds, he had to use his staff in case of mishap.

The staff was light to a degree, it was hollow inside with a sharp drill on the tip below.

When stabbed on the sand, he squeezed a liver where he held it and the drill tip would move fast and drill the inside the sand.

Connected with the drill were resilient thin strings; the moment the drill reached its limit, they would spread, serving as roots.

This way, it served as an independent tall object on the ground. Protecting Lawa from his rejection.

And even if he uprooted it, it still worked because a single string would still be left, which would be pulled forward when he stabbed it forward again.

To Lawa it was a genius way for him to bypass his limitations.

There was a level to it, one that he could stab and hold on to for a long time; there was one for moving slowly.

The one he was now using to walk required his control. The drill doesn't go far and also retracts just as fast, which allows him to move forward.

So he had to sync with it or he would be slower or faster than the drill.

He was now moving slowly, as he got used to the craftwork.

Throughout the day, Lawa forwent eating and practised, and by sunset, he was relatively good at it. He sat down where he sensed no creature around.

Sand shifted and moved and created a mound around him. He watched with fascination.

He had seen others have the ability to work without even command, and now he can do it.

"Rachis Hold is good!" Lawa said, "But I better get the hang of it by using it myself!"

A small cave of sand was now around him, their colour was gradually becoming yellower than the rest before additional sand from the desert masked the yellow taint.

From inside, Lawa's eyes were closed as he felt the cave around him and also used the Normal Skill Yellow Taint more.

The more yellow taint covered the sand from the inside, the more he could feel it was in his grasp. He pushed to his limit and felt as if they were his arm.

Arm Reach

That was what it was called if an object was in your control to a degree.

Lawa avoided the feedback of the numerous uncountable sand particles coming to him and held them as a whole and began to press.

Every Arm Reach provided feedback about their composition and arrangements. But only gifted people at Body Stage or those that were at Echo Stage can truly make use of those.

If someone weakly tries to take on the feedback, they may find their mind jumbled up and, most of the time, gain brain damage.

Of course, one can study them but only under the control of an expert.

The more Lawa hardened the sand cave the more feedback changed and reduced. When it reached a threshold of cracks, Lawa poured more power into it, and immediately, there was a snap.

Yellow Stonification

"Haha. I made my first stone"

He was drenched in sweat and felt extremely tired as if he ran a marathon. That didn't stop him from looking around the cave.

At first glance, it will appear as one whole with six cracks running around. Those were the imperfections that he had to refine with time.

Upon closer look, one will see some parts not that smooth but were clusters of sand held by a subtle force of the taint on them.

Lawa observed all that; he then recorded all that in his scribe tablet and was about to put it aside, he stopped and observed his hand and the scribe tablet.

"Look at me working hard!" He said in a bitter tone. His heart fell as he leaned back, feeling he would just rest and reminisce about his bleak situation.
