Chapter 6 - Poisonous Beast Boss

Hiss—Hiss—Hiss—

A low, warped hissing rose from the western room of the farm, sharp as blades dragged across stone. The pitch shifted, voices overlapping like something with too many mouths.

Wang Xian's eyes lit up.

It worked.

In his last life, he'd read a forum thread titled:"On the Possibility of Artificially Breeding Bosses"—a legendary discussion compiled by theorists and madmen.

Among the various speculations, one method stood out: breeding a Five Poison Beast.A monster born from chaos and hunger.

It required combining five venomous species—gecko, centipede, viper, scorpion, and toad—feeding them well, and letting nature—or code—take its course.

Let them fight. Let them evolve. Let the strongest consume the rest.

Wang Xian had done exactly that. Before digitization, he'd already stocked the room with geckos, centipedes, and scorpions. The snakes and toads? He'd only had a few, but it had to be enough.

Now… it seemed it was.

The first boss kill… it's mine.

The hissing intensified.

Wang Xian moved fast. He went to the cockroach breeding room, grabbed two large foam crates—50x70x30—and filled them to the brim. Cockroaches, Level 0 wild monsters, writhed over each other.

He hauled the boxes to the door of the western room, then grabbed another box from the supply room—black with a red skull printed on the front.

Dichlorvos.

A chemical poison banned in many regions, but still common in village storerooms. A relic from the past. And, as it turned out, the perfect tool for what came next.

Sorry, boys.

Wang Xian cracked open six bottles and dumped them into the foam crates.

The stench hit instantly.

"Ah-CHOO! Damn…" He gagged, wiping his face. The vapor clawed at his throat, thick with chemical burn.

He stirred the sloshing mix with a stick until the cockroaches twitched and spasmed—half-dead, half-drunk on death.

Dinner time.

He hoisted the box and poured it into the room through a specially cut feeding chute. Inside, the hissing turned into screeching—then silence—then crunching.

They're eating.

The Five Poison Beast thrived on venom. It fed on toxins to evolve. The first time it encountered a new poison, it would suffer—but if it survived, it would adapt.

And adaptation meant transformation.

The beast was in pain now, fighting the venom inside. But it was alive. It would harden.

Perfect.

Wang Xian waited at the door, crouched in silence, listening to the creature's painful, ugly hisses slowly mellow into slow, deliberate breathing.

That's the sign. Time to move.

He stepped back. Then he kicked the door open, iron shovel in hand, and rushed inside.

The room stank of rot and wet decay.

In the center lay a monster the size of a small dog, twitching weakly on the dirt floor. Its body was a grotesque amalgam:

Carapace of a centipede

Tail of a scorpion

Body like a bloated toad

Head of a viper, fangs glistening

Limbs twisted, like those of a dying gecko

Its skin bubbled with poison, breath ragged but steady.

[Five Poison Beast] (Normal)Level: 5HP: 377 / 2000Attack: 10Physical Defense: 21Magic Defense: 10Skills: Unknown

He could only see part of its stats—standard for fighting creatures at his own level. But the skills were hidden. No doubt it had venom-based abilities: toxic bites, tail strikes, maybe worse.

Doesn't matter. I prepared for this.

[Name]: Wang Xian[Nickname]: Fairy King[Race]: Human (Dragon Kingdom)[Class]: Independent Farmer[Age]: 24[Talent]: [Learning (Common)], [Growth (Taboo)][Level]: 5[HP]: 150[MP]: 130[Attack Power]: 17 + 3[Defense]: 16[Free Attribute Points]: 40

He hadn't distributed his free points yet—but now was the time.

+20 Strength+20 Constitution

His stats surged.

New HP: 350New Attack: 40 (including shovel bonus)

Wang Xian let out a long breath.

Good. I'm ready.

"Let's go."

He raised the shovel, and with a yell, slammed it down on the snake-like head of the Five Poison Beast.

–38

A blood-red number appeared—weak point damage.

The beast screeched and reared back, eyes burning with rage.

So the snake head's the weakness.

But the beast was fast.

It lunged, tail arcing like a whip. Wang Xian dove to the side, rolling across the dirt floor just as the venomous tip slammed down where his leg had been.

He rose and struck again, this time hitting the creature's body.

–19(White damage — normal hit)

The beast hissed, tail curling again—and then it lashed out.

A black blur.

THUNK.

Wang Xian grunted. The stinger buried itself in his calf.

–0

Didn't pierce defense...

Ding!

"You've been poisoned."

His eyes widened. Though the tail hadn't pierced his armor, the venom had entered.

–15

A green number floated over his head.

[Scorpion Tail Venom]Duration: 10 secondsDamage: 15 per second

150 total damage.

Shit. He couldn't afford to stall.

The beast darted forward again, fangs snapping.

Wang Xian struck low, catching its leg.

–19

Then pivoted and smashed the snake head again.

–38

Keep pressure on the weak point.

But the poison burned through him. His movements slowed, legs stiffening.

–15–15–15

His health dropped to 305, then 290, then 275.

He gritted his teeth, sidestepped another strike, and brought the shovel down—hard—onto the snake head again.

–38

The beast screeched and stumbled.

Almost there.

The Five Poison Beast thrashed in desperation. Venom sprayed from its mouth in a wide arc—Wang Xian rolled through it, coughing as droplets sizzled on his coat.

–15

Status: [Poisoned x2]

HP: 260

End it now or die.

With a roar, Wang Xian leapt forward, shovel overhead, and drove it straight down into the snake-head—one last time.

–38

The Five Poison Beast gave one final, gurgling cry—then collapsed, body twitching, blood hissing in the dirt.

Ding!

"You have slain: Five Poison Beast [Normal]""+250 EXP""Special Drop: ???""Title Gained: [Venom Slayer]"

Wang Xian dropped to one knee, breathing hard, sweat pouring off him.

His screen flashed again:

[Scorpion Tail Venom]: expired.[Venom Breath]: expired.HP: 245

That… was way too close.

But it was done.

The boss was dead. The first of many.

And with it, the first blood reward of this new world was his.
