Finally, a post that's not just humblebragging.

He clicked into the thread to read more.

[Dynasty Wars Leveling Guide — by Qin Xue of the Southern Village:

Early Stage: Activate the Newbie Protection Token. Find good terrain—preferably near mountains and water. Easier to collect materials, farm, mine, and hunt...Mid-Stage: Recruit refugees, build housing, and improve basic infrastructure. Promote refugee hosts, assign roles, increase loyalty and combat strength, then upgrade them to militia...Late Stage: Lead a large group of militia to sweep the mountains and increase your player level.

Note: Following this guide and proceeding step-by-step will guarantee reaching Level 10 and unlocking the 9th-rank class transfer before the end of the one-month newbie protection period.]

[BreezeApproaching: Whoa! Much respect, Master! Thank you for the amazing guide.]

In no time, the comments were all uniform—everyone was stepping on the thread.

Liu Yuan kept scrolling, his mouth twitching.

This post... is it actually useful?

Why does it read like empty boasting?

Level 10?

You need a month?

Liu Yuan silently exited the forum and glanced at his own stats:

[Player: Liu Yuan

Level: 9 (75.34%)

Class: None

Private Weapon: Butcher Knife

Faction: Liang City

Official Position: Executioner

Public Weapon: Nine-Ring Ghost-Head Blade]

Silently closing his stat panel, Liu Yuan looked down at the massive saber in his hand.

The blade was pitch black with dark red hues, exuding a thick aura of bloodlust. Nine iron rings hung from the spine of the blade, jingling ominously with every move.

The handle was stained deep red with dried blood, and the pommel featured a snarling ghost head with bared fangs—a chilling sight.

This was a Public Weapon—

The very blade Liu Yuan received from Zhang Yingjun upon choosing the path of an executioner.

His gaze shifted away from the saber to the square execution platform before him. Below the platform, corpses littered the ground. Blood sprayed from severed necks, flooding a sea of rolling heads.

Liu Yuan sat alone atop the high platform. He didn't need to show anger—his mere presence radiated killing intent.

"L-Lord Liu... the number of remaining captives who refused to surrender has been tallied. One 5th-rank martial general, three 7th-rank spiritualists, and three hundred and twenty-one soldiers."

"Shall we begin the executions now... or wait a bit?"

A trembling voice rang out. A soldier in a long robe, red with white trim, ran up nervously.

This NPC was named Wu Ming—specially assigned to Liu Yuan by Zhang Yingjun as his assistant.

Thinking back to his earlier bargaining with Zhang Yingjun, Liu Yuan felt fortunate.

—A few hours ago—

"You want to be an executioner?"

Zhang Yingjun's eyes widened, staring at Liu Yuan like he was some kind of freak.

Executioners were butchers of men—loathed by most NPCs for their heavy killing aura and constant stench of blood. On the streets, people avoided them like the plague.

This kid was a war hero in Liang City.

Zhang had offered him plenty of cushy positions—easy jobs with high pay.

Why pick executioner of all things?

He couldn't figure it out.

Liu Yuan nodded.

"Killing people is no different from killing chickens. If I can butcher your chickens, I can butcher people too."

"Old man, you're smart, but I'm not stupid either."

Liu Yuan raised an eyebrow, a glint flashing in his eyes.

"You've gone through all this trouble just to give me a post, so I'll stay in Liang City, right?"

"Well, my choice now should count as honoring your wishes."

"But being an executioner isn't exactly glamorous—so I need a promise from you."

"A promise?"

Zhang narrowed his eyes. He wasn't angry—in fact, he looked relieved.

This kind of bargaining attitude… finally, something that made sense.

"What kind of promise?"

Liu Yuan glanced back at the pile of dead chickens behind him and smiled:

"First, I alone will be the executioner of Liang City."

"Granted."

"Second, you must assign me a clever assistant."

"Also granted."

"Third, from now on, all prisoners and death row convicts in Liang City will be executed by me."

"P-prisoners…"

Zhang Yingjun narrowed his eyes, seemingly having guessed Liu Yuan's true intentions.

"Fine. I agree to all your terms."

"Last thing—keep my identity a secret."

Liu Yuan added with a smile.

The Mandate…

An outsider…

Marked for death!

If word got out about who he really was, countless people would come after him.

Better to lay low until he reached max level—then see who would dare lay a hand on him.

Returning to the present, Liu Yuan stretched and glanced lazily at Wu Ming.

"Heh, no point wasting food. Drag 'em over. I'll handle it in one chop."

Seeing Liu Yuan's smile, Wu Ming shivered.

This man had only just taken office a few hours ago.

But in that short time, he'd already executed hundreds.

A real killing god.

Wu Ming swore—he had seen dozens of executioners during his years in Liang City, but none were as capable as Liu Yuan.

Wu Ming quietly retreated. Soon, a squad of soldiers led a line of prisoners, all shackled and hollow-eyed, toward the platform.

They walked up one by one, stopping before Liu Yuan.

First up was the 5th-rank martial general—the strongest among the captives.

"Kneel. I'll give you a clean death," Liu Yuan said coldly.

"Pah! You dog! You want this grandpa to kneel? You're not worthy—Argh!"

Before he could finish, Liu Yuan raised the massive saber and slammed the flat of the blade into the general's knees, forcing him down.

As soon as the man knelt, Liu Yuan flipped the blade from spine to edge.

With a flash of steel—he swung.

Blood sprayed. Head rolled.

The 5th-rank martial general—dead!
