The shambler cried out in pain. Soo Min-ji thrust the dagger out, then plunged it over and over on its neck, making it roll over.
The stench coming from its skin, and black blood made her stomach churn, to the extent she was close to throwing up.
"Of all the things in the world, I get to be stuck with dead brains!" She snapped, kicking a flesh walker that came by to distract.
The shamblers all came rushing in at once on her, giving her no time to recover.
Thier stench made her almost fall back to the ground, but she was not giving up just yet.
"Make use of Intelligence, think of something quick!" She said with gritted teeth.
"Outrunning them would be a bad idea, so I could just.." she scrambled to her feet, but another Shambler knocked her down, before she could fully get up.
They were coming in their numbers, all of them trying to reach her head first.
With all her might, she held two of them at once knocking jamming their heads together.
The wounded shamblers, gave out a strangled cry, while some of the others tried to check if they were alright.
Using this as an opportunity, she scrambled to her feet, taking to her heels.
What if she just used her stamina instead? Using intelligence seemed really tasking at the moment.
"Roar!" One of them roared loudly, noticing she was getting away.
Soo Min-ji cursed loudly, "Damn it! These are no dead brains at all! Think Min-ji! Think!" She panted heavily, her face all sloppy with sweat.
The system's screen appeared before her again
[Host is losing her stamina points!]
"Oh no!" She whimpered, her breath hitching.
She looked back to see the shamblers almost closing in on her, "Oh dear, what am I supposed to do now?" She almost whispered.
A thought popped into her head, "What if I.. turn them against one another?" Her eyes widened at the thought.
"That should do it," she increased her pace, "I just have to think of how exactly to do that," she clenched her knife.
She saw a sloping part of the sand going downhill, "Hm, this should put them at a hold for a bit," she grinned, rushing towards the sloping part.
The screen's interface appeared before her again.
[Beep! Host is seriously losing her stamina points!]
A furrow rested on her brows, "I thought they had increased when I found the pool, have I just used them all?'
[Host has been withstanding the shamblers' attack for one and a half hours]
Her lips turned downwards, "Oh sweet heavens! Since when?" She gasped as she felt her knees giving way.
"If I don't do something, these things would kill me," she exhaled through her mouth, her sweat dripping all over her face to her neck.
She reached the sloping part of the sand, "Let's do this!" She stooped her knees to a certain level, spread them about two inches apart, then began to slide down as though she were surfing.
She was almost at the bottom, when the message came,
[Host has completely sucked up her stamina points! Host has to rely on her intelligence to save herself!]
"Oh dear Lord," she muttered under breath.
"Min-ji why haven't you thought of something yet?" She bit her lower lips, her heart pounding against her rib cage.
She didn't have much strength with which to battle with all those shamblers, plus she couldn't keep running away forever, so she had to act according to her first, and only plan.
"Turn them against one another. That way I will be able to strike them without them noticing."
[Zombies are very sensitive to noise. Host could create some sort of noise distraction!]
She stopped at the base of the sloppy sandhill, "Hmm," her eyes immediately began to scan the place, until they landed on some set of lone rocks.
"Perfect!" She ran towards those rocks.
Soo Min-ji heard their deafening roar at an earshot. Her heart skipped multiple beats, "Wait.. are they increasing?"
Her suspicion, unfortunately was right.
They came rolling down the hill, this time, they were a multitude!
Her heart sank as she saw them charge at her in their fingers.
"Aegenesis! Help! Can't I use my agility to outrun this things!" She screamed at the top of her lungs.
[Host should make use of the noise distraction, quick!]
Without thinking twice, she immediately scraped the knife against those rocks to produce a harsh grating sound. Eventually, she joined another stone, scraping both of them against the initial rock's surface.
The shamblers were at loss of where the source of the noise was coming from, since Soo Min-ji was blocking her 'weapons'.
For the first few seconds it seemed to be working, before..
Smack!
The dagger and rock was smacked away from her hand.
With dread in her heart, she slowly turned to face the shambler beside her, flashing her its jagged set of teeth.
"Damn you!" She attempted to reach for her dagger, but she was stopped in her tracks when she felt a stinging pain in her right leg.
She looked down to see.. the zombie thrusting its hand into her leg.
Blood spewed as the wound got bigger, and deeper.
A loud shriek escaped her lips. It was aiming to remove her insides! With all her might, she reached for a stone, throwing it at its head with brute force.
She tried scrambling back to her feet, her the wound in her leg was not permitting her to do so. Soon the fresh smell of blood wafted through their nostrils, directing them to the source of where this rather delicious scent was coming from- Soo Min-ji.
Min-ji began to panic, she knew they were coming for her. There was another futile attempt from her to stand up, but it was no use. The shambler had already done its damage.
Soon, they were closing in on her. She saw her life flash before her eyes again.
The images from her past life came flooding back. She was going to die here too? Why was she given a second chance then?
They were so close. The greedy claws, and horrible teeth lunged at her ready to devour her whole.
Boom!
A blinding light erupted in the midst of the zombies, then there was another painfully wrecking explosion!
BOOM!
Soo Min-ji was carried by that brute force, rolling in the air again. This was it.. this was how she died. With a heavy heart, and closed eyes she prepared herself to fall in the midst of debris.
A pair of strong arms instead encircled her.
"You are not dying again, not on my watch."
