Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Live Treasure Appraisal—The Treasure of Pokémon!

"Gurururu!"

Half-asleep, Ye Yinchuan thought it was thunder outside and was about to rush out to collect the laundry—

Then he turned his head and saw—

A creature with two big ears, blue and white skin, looking like a cross between a cat and a rabbit, standing at his bedside. It was gazing at him with pitiful, helpless eyes.

"What the heck?!"

Ye Yinchuan jumped back into the corner, terrified by the unknown creature.

"Did I just wake up too hard? Wait a sec…"

He looked closely—and realized…

Dark blue skin, white belly, big round eyes with tiny pupils, and a strangely intelligent look.

Though it resembled a robotic cat, this was clearly the Munchlax from Pokémon!

After all, intelligence can't be faked!

Looking again, the Munchlax had a big mouth with two sharp little teeth underneath, long fur draped like a cloak, and beneath it, white feet with three claws poking out.

"Uhh…"

The Munchlax opened its mouth—

The rumbling sound earlier wasn't thunder.

It was its stomach growling.

At the same time—

Ye Yinchuan's head throbbed. A flood of memories surged into his mind.

His life hadn't changed much—still an orphan from the Starting Point Orphanage, no parents, got into streaming after high school.

The only difference was…

"Huh? I transmigrated? To a Pokémon parallel world?!"

He looked at the dopey little Munchlax and gave a bitter smile.

As if having less than thirty bucks left wasn't bad enough, now he had to feed this bottomless pit of a Pokémon?

How was he supposed to afford that?

According to his memories, this Munchlax was a stray he picked up.

It was scavenging garbage on the street, looking pitiful, so he brought it home.

Within days, he understood why it was out there—it ate food equal to its body weight daily.

Normal households couldn't keep up!

But he had a rule: once he took it in, he'd never abandon it.

So with what little he earned from his monthly livestreams, he somehow managed to… starve it skinny.

Yup. Starved it so it lost weight, and thus needed less food.

Only problem: it was severely malnourished and couldn't grow properly.

But it didn't matter. He was just a streamer, not a pro trainer. Combat stats didn't mean much.

Still, he couldn't help but feel sorry for the little guy.

At least in the wild it had trash to eat…

Now? It might get arrested by city patrols.

"I think you keep two buns under your armpits, right? Come on, take them out and eat."

Ye Yinchuan gave the Munchlax a soft, affectionate look.

Sure enough, Munchlax reached into its long armpit fur and pulled out two buns—

One for him, one for Ye Yinchuan.

That big mouth of his even curled into a goofy smile.

A clear message: One for you, one for me.

Even though it was starving, it didn't forget Ye Yinchuan needed to eat too.

"Eat up."

Ye Yinchuan ruffled its fuzzy head. It felt soft and comforting, especially those big ears that twitched when he touched them.

Munchlax opened its mouth, and the bun vanished into the abyss like it was dropped into a black hole—poof, gone.

Then it stared at Ye Yinchuan's bun with wide whites and tiny pupils, like a green bean.

Ye Yinchuan paused, staring at his bun…

That was dinner. Half a bun.

He opened his phone, browsed the news, and confirmed it—

He really had transmigrated into a parallel Pokémon world.

"Today, two Rhyhorns collided in a tunnel due to fatigue. Fortunately, no injuries or Pokémon casualties."

"A shady businessman illegally detained nearly a hundred Pikachus for forced electricity generation. This severely violates Pokémon labor laws and will result in penalties."

Pokémon—also known as "elves"—are extraordinary natural beings.

In this world, humans and Pokémon are deeply intertwined.

People catch, train, and raise Pokémon, even breeding them as companions and helpers.

In everyday life, in battles, exploring wild zones or secret realms—everything revolves around Pokémon.

For instance—

Ponyta can serve as a rideable transport.

Machamp can help with construction work.

Arcanine helps police catch criminals.

Chansey assists nurses in taking care of patients.

As supernatural creatures, Pokémon also have immense battle potential.

Squirtle sprays water, Charmander breathes fire, Pikachu releases electricity…

This whole world revolves around Pokémon.

Even streaming—the hottest trend—is centered around Pokémon content.

Becoming a Pokémon Trainer takes money.

Especially combat-oriented Pokémon. Food, supplements, registration fees, evolution materials… all major expenses.

With no family or backing, Ye Yinchuan had dreamed of owning a Pokémon since high school.

He originally planned to earn enough through livestreaming to buy a Pokémon egg.

Then he found Munchlax, and suddenly, his life goal became feeding it and surviving.

"Could be worse. Compared to being a true orphan, at least now I have a cute Pokémon."

He accepted this reality optimistically.

"Almost seven. Time to prep for the stream."

A message from the landlord stressed him out—it was rent time again, and he had less than thirty bucks.

No wonder he ate plain buns every day…

"Is streaming even worth it anymore?"

Looking at the few hundred followers on his account, Ye Yinchuan felt lost and uncertain.

Luckily, he had joined a streamer guild. Even if his streams underperformed, he still got a monthly base salary of 1,500 yuan—barely enough to scrape by.

"Oh well. As long as I've got food, I'll stick with it! I won't starve, and someday I'll make it big!"

Just as he made up his mind to keep going—

Ding! Live Treasure Appraisal System Activated!

Would you like to claim your newbie gift pack?

Ye Yinchuan froze—

Was this… his cheat code arriving?

He got excited and immediately selected "Yes"!

You've claimed the Newbie Gift Pack! You've obtained the exclusive skill: Appraisal Insight!

Skill: Appraisal Insight

Description: Even through a screen, no detail about a Pokémon escapes your eyes. You can now appraise Pokémon, see their stats, and uncover hidden information!

"Now that's what I'm talking about!"

Ye Yinchuan's heart thumped with excitement—this cheat was legit.

In the real world, you'd need advanced instruments or professional know-how to assess a Pokémon's potential.

And even then, it might not be accurate.

But now? He could see everything with a glance?

How could his stream not go viral?

It was only a matter of time!

Just as Ye Yinchuan gleefully prepared to test his Appraisal Insight on his Munchlax—

His phone rang.

It was Hu Yue, the manager from his streaming guild.

He picked up, ready to say hello, but she spoke first:

"Xiao Chuan… I'm so sorry. The guild's shareholders just issued an order—any streamer with no performance for three straight months will be terminated. But don't worry, we'll still pay you for this half-month."

Her voice was hesitant, like she was afraid he'd break down.

"I understand, Sister Hu."

Surprisingly, Ye Yinchuan sounded calm.

"If there's anything else, message me. It's almost 7—I need to start my stream."

Hu Yue was stunned—how could he be in the mood to stream after such a blow?

"The guild account you're using will be revoked too…"

"I'll just register a new one."

His voice was carefree.

Now that he had the Live Treasure Appraisal System, it was only a matter of time before he blew up.

Without the guild, he wouldn't have to give them a cut anymore—win-win!

As for the few hundred followers?

Out with the old, in with the new!

"Oh, and thanks, Sister Hu."

With that, he hung up.

To avoid any hiccups during his stream, he turned to his Munchlax and activated Appraisal Insight.
