Chapter 2 - World Drenched In The Rain

Rain drops splattered on to my back, waking me from my sleep.

Did I fail yet again?

I got up from the ground slowly. Looking around I was still in the school yard. But there were not spray paints on the wall in front of me. I looked around and the empty bottle of pills was also missing.

There were many people passing; some with umbrella, others without; though they didn't seem to mind. everything, everyone was drenched.

The atmosphere was somehow hazy. I was still in my school uniform. I got up and started walking aimlessly around. The fountain was running. There were more people than I ever remembered seeing before and I could hardly recognize anyone.

Everyone seemed out of it. Walking as aimlessly as I always did. Their eyes seemingly empty. I kept walking till I reached what seemed to be the exit and the entrance.

It was a narrow slope going up hill. As I kept walking the path kept shrinking. It came to a point where it was very hard for even to people to walk past each other without touching. But strangely enough many people were riding their motorcycles in. The path was unsteady, uneven; hard for even a person to walk without tripping yet here they were trying to ride a bike in; almost as if trying to dive their way into death.

I stopped for a bit, observing.

In in front of me a middle aged man was climbing the mountain. he seemed like he could hardly carry himself. He was dragging a motorcycle uphill; well almost carrying to be more precise.

Why was he going through so much trouble in this drenching rain to carry that motorcycle up the hill? I might have voiced my thoughts out loud because an answer soon followed.

A small stall owner, where I was sitting answered

"It's because of his son, his son died wanting a bike; soon after the old man bought a bike and tried to kill himself by riding the bike from this very hill; and so everyday, without fail he carries this bike up to the hill and tries again and again to finally."

"Oh." Was my only response. I had felt for quite some time that this was not the same world I was from.

I got up and went on my way. I was soon outside the hill area. It was night time now. Before me was a highway with all of it's lights brightly lit but very few cars were one the road. The ones that were there were zooming past so fast that it was hard to even see them.

Without knowing where I was heading I kept on walking.
