Pamela;
I sway my hips as the loud music that shakes the ground and bangs against my ear swirls around my head. After all these months of working here, you'd think I'd have gotten a hang of this… but I haven't.
There's something about being submerged in loud music for too long that makes your ears ache. However, after a while, you learn to pretend like it has no effect on you.
And when you pretend long enough, it starts becoming true.
"A tip for the pretty tigress, " I hear a man say at a table in the distance, and when I turn, I see him waving a few dollar bills to Judy.
She smirks, strutting over to him with that signature sway of hers.
"Oh, how sweet. Now I have something to remember you by…" She coos as she raises her leg and places it on his seat.
"Care to keep it for me?" She questions, and I raise a brow.
"Right there. Safe in my sock." She adds, and my eyes widen. It's against the rules for customers to touch the server girl here… or even mess with us. But I guess it's different when the server girl initiates the contact?
Judy is wild!
The man smirks before slowly tracing his hand up the calf of her leg, and buries two of his fingers into the band of her sock.
He keeps his eyes locked on hers as he folds the dollar bills, pulls the band of the sock, and tucks the money into it.
He lets go of the extended bands, and when it snaps back into place around Judy's leg, she lets out a moan, causing the dashing but terrifying looking man who seems to be in his mid-fifties but is built like a gym coach to chuckle. He's clearly entertained.
"Hope to see more of you, handsome," Judy adds before turning around. Her eyes lock on me, and she smirks.
She walks over to me, and we walk back to the bar counter with our trays of empty cups.
"That's how you do it, honey." She whispers proudly and I stare at her in awe.
"Judy, you are crazy!" I whisper-yell at her, and she kisses her teeth.
"I know… You can't blame me though. I grew up watching Samantha Jones run Manhattan in heels. Of course, I turned out like this." She replies, and I roll my eyes.
"And you're both blonde. I'm starting to see the pattern." I joke, and she giggles.
We finally get to the counter and Jerome walks over to us.
"Ah… If it isn't my favourite pair. Veronica & Cheryl." He says, and I raise a brow as I lean against the counter.
"What show is that, again?" I question as I turn to Judy, and she gives me a look like she can't deal with me any longer.
"Riverdale, Pamela. Riverdale." She replies, and I remember.
"Ohh…" I reply, and she kisses her teeth again as she pushes her tray towards Jerome who starts taking the cups out of it.
"So? How much has our newcomer made tonight?" He questions, and I smile as I remember the dollar bills sitting pretty in my apron pocket.
"Three hundred dollars," I reply proudly, and Judy gasps.
"Nice! That's a solid start." Jerome says, nodding as he takes my tray and starts emptying it while Judy smiles at me like a proud mother.
"And the night is just beginning too. Oh, you're about to leave this place grinning ear to ear." Judy says, and just then, Jerome pushes our trays back to us.
"Let's make a bet. You make a hundred more dollars, and I'll give you fifty. What do you say?" She questions, and Jerome coos.
"Ooo. Now this is a fancy bet." He notes and I stare at Judy dumbfounded.
"And if I don't?" I question and she smirks at me.
"You'll let me take William out on a date." She says and my jaw drops.
My brother is 17 years old and has the BIGGEST crush on Judy. He's been begging me for a chance to let him hang out with her, and I've been refusing. The whole thing is just weird and I want the idea out of his mind.
But Judy is fond of him and finds his attraction to her funny and cute. She indulges him, saying she wants to teach him how to pull girls his age and how to be a gentleman.
She may think she's doing big sister duties, but it only makes William like her more. I don't want to see him hurt when it's time to accept that he and Judy can never happen.
"So…?" Judy questions, and I smirk as I take her hand.
"You're on. I'm not letting you teach William any crazy tips to impress girls. I don't want to be an aunty anytime soon." I reply, and I shake her hand, and Jerome chuckles before speaking.
"I think we got our first target."
Judy and I turn back to the crowd, and in a corner, I see a man with his hand raised.
"Looks like you got your first prey. Let's hope you can squeeze a tip out of him." She teases as she nudges me forward, and Jerome lightly drums on the counter.
"Let the games begin!" He says, and I take one deep breath, square my shoulders, place my tray on my waist and walk through the sea of tables, and past other waitresses till I get to him.
"What would you be having, handsome?" I question, as I pull out my pad and pen from my pocket and ready myself to write, but I'm met with silence.
I look away from my pad, and up at the man, and my heart seizes when I see the pit of light green eyes staring at me.
I may have only seen them once before, but I would recognize those eyes anywhere!
It's the chocolate man from this morning. Shit!!
Out of everyone in this damn city… Why him? Why did I have to see him again?? Here. Tonight. Of all places, and now of all times!
I feel my stomach twist into a knot so tight it just might snap. And the man tilts his head as he stares at me, causing me to gulp.
"…Do I know you from somewhere?" He questions, and my soul leaves my body.
Please, God. Oh please don't do this. Let me just walk away from this table and avoid him for the rest of the night.
I'm wearing heavy makeup so hopefully, he doesn't recognize me.
God, please. God, please. God, please.
"No…"
I lie and suddenly his brows shoot up.
"It's you! From the mall this morning. The rude chocolate lady!" He replies and my heart drops.
"I… don't know what you're talking about. If you'll excuse me, I'll call one of my colleagues to attend to you. I have another table to serve.." I ramble as I turn away from him and try to rush off, but he grabs my wrist.
"I know it's you. I'd recognize those arrogant eyes anywhere." He replies, and my heart dies in my chest.
Oh, heavens. I'm screwed!
