Chapter 1 - 01

"Hmm... Join any high school team and qualify for Nationals…"

Kota stared at the wall, muttering to himself as he came to terms with his new reality.

"Man, is getting isekai'd this casual nowadays?"

Kota, your average college student in 2022—mid-tier grades, average looks, nice guy vibes, basketball enthusiast, and also... let's not talk about that. Aside from being oddly good at poker, he was basically the template for a generic side character.

He had a bad habit of talking big while watching Kuroko no Basket, throwing out lines like:

"These edgy power-rangers with flashy powers? Please. Drop me in there, give me any ability, and I'd wreck them."

And, well... you know how these things go.

"Alright, time to check out my powers. There has to be a system, right? You can't send a bro into a superpowered basketball world empty-handed."

He fiddled with the classic isekai interface until a skill screen finally popped up.

Name: KotaHeight: 182 cmWeight: 140 lbsWingspan: 180 cmVertical Jump: 40 cm

Kota frowned.

"Wait a minute... this is just my old body! How am I supposed to keep up in a world where people basically fly?"

In his previous life, Kota was the starting point guard for his college's intramural team. He wasn't super athletic, but he had great fundamentals and high basketball IQ. He watched NBA games religiously and loved analyzing highlight reels.

After five or six years of serious ball, he'd become a pretty solid player—for Earth. But here? In Kuroko no Basket? Where people dunk from the free-throw line mid-game and vanish like ninjas?

"I'm gonna die with this 40cm vertical…"

Still, he kept scrolling.

Talents:

Court General – When you're holding the ball, teammates become calmer and less prone to mistakes.

"Speed isn't always the answer, you know~"

Pick-and-Roll Master – After running a successful pick-and-roll, your shooting accuracy increases. The more synchronized the play, the more stable your shot.

"It's not 1v1 all day, bro. Ever heard of teamwork?"

Pants-Up Defense – Pulling up your pants boosts defensive posture, recovers a bit of stamina, and might just intimidate the ball handler.

"This is it. I'm going full defense mode!"

Kota stroked the stubble on his chin in thought.

"Are these talents from the system, or just how I naturally played?"

Back on Earth, his playstyle focused on controlling the tempo, executing clean pick-and-rolls, and maximizing efficiency. The system seemed to have scanned that and built his talents around it.

Still, that raised a serious issue...

"These are nice, sure, but how the hell am I supposed to stand toe-to-toe with the Generation of Miracles? What am I gonna do—pull up my pants and hope for the best?"

Back then, he had stamina issues. His style was ball-dominant, and by halftime, he'd be gassed. His only way of conserving energy?

He discovered that adjusting his shorts mid-defense lowered his stance and tricked opponents into thinking he was about to clamp down—sometimes it even worked.

So while he was a little shocked that Pants-Up Defense made it into the system, he couldn't argue—it was part of his style.

Besides, who expects point guards to be elite defenders anyway? That's for wings and bigs. Point guards are there to look cool, break ankles, and make no-look passes, right?

Suddenly, a voice interrupted his train of thought:

"World synchronization complete. Newbie Gift Pack unlocked."

"Open it!"

Kota had seen enough isekai to not waste time. He was dying to know what cheat would let him throw hands with miracle-tier freaks.

New Talents Unlocked:

The Right Choice – In the final 3 minutes of the last quarter, each pass you make slightly buffs your teammates.

"This pass... it carries all our hopes!"

Overthinker – With memories from two lifetimes, your brain processes game scenarios at an abnormal level. Slight boost to passing and ball control when in possession. Slight boost to positioning and steals when off-ball.

"Being the best second-in-command… is better than being a half-baked leader."

All four talents (well, maybe three—Pants-Up Defense was still questionable) were solid.

On Earth, he'd be ecstatic, but here? In Kuroko no Basket?

They were just... okay.

Then Kota realized something horrifying:

"Where's the scoring? I have no offensive talents?! It's all passing and control! How am I supposed to win games if I can't score?!"

Sure, Pick-and-Roll Master helped with shooting—but only if I've got a teammate. And the rest? All about assists, tempo, and team play.

He clenched his teeth.

"No... I've been cast as the support character. My dream of being the boss... shattered."

Still, he tried to comfort himself.

"It's the point guard's job, right? Not support — tactical leader! That sounds cooler."

But if he couldn't overpower the Generation of Miracles, what then?

"Wait—'Join any high school team'? So… I could actually team up with the Generation of Miracles?"

"Confirmed."

"Yo that's sick!"

Kota, being a practical 2022 guy, didn't mind bandwagoning. Why suffer with scrubs when you could run with monsters?

"Kuroko and Kagami? Nah. I'd be third wheel there. And Akashi… way too authoritarian, plus we'd both be point guards. Clash of egos incoming."

He ran through the list.

"Murasakibara's got Himuro. Already a second-in-command slot filled. Pass."

"Aomine, Kise, Midorima… hmm…"

Aomine was insane early on—definitely stronger than Kise or Midorima. But his problem? Total lone-wolf mode.

Didn't believe in teammates after awakening his abilities.

He literally told everyone to get out of the way so he could go full ISO (cue Akashi's intervention).

Midorima?

He already had a great point guard: Takao.

If Kota joined them, they'd have three guards—backcourt overload.

"What is this, Run & Gun 2.0?"

Kota shook his head, clearing away the ridiculous mental image of a triple-guard death lineup.

So that left only two real options:

Aomine Daiki

or

Kise Ryota.
